               HE WAS STILL getting used to the angel gig, admittedly. And he certainly didn’t feel like he was very GOOD at it, either. But at one moment, he’d been in some sort of darkness, some sort of opposite of Being, and then, he’d been in front of this girl and it was like information had been downloaded into his head. All he knew was that this was Carrie and it was his job now to watch after her; that was it. 

It was proving to be easier said that done. Probably his fault. 

At first, when she’d do things that were probably, definitely BAD IDEAS, and he’d try to stop her, it was like he was less than air: poof. No sound. No matter. She couldn’t hear him; he could stop her. That had changed a few weeks ago, and the two of them — Reggie called them a TEAM, though Carrie didn’t seem to have signed on to that kind of name yet — had been experiencing… GROWING PAINS. 

she’s strong willed, that much is certain when it comes to carrie wilson. caroline was too soft a name for someone who drew so much power to her. the nickname for the steven king novel’s protagonist (and yes, she does read, contrary to popular belief), seemed far more suitable to the person she came off as. well, depending on who you asked anyway, she’d never been treated that way by a majority of her peers, but the power, yes, the power and the drive she could certainly relate to. the anger that she buried, definitely. 

her father would hardly believe her if she claimed she was seeing, especially speaking to, some sort of angel, though trevor wilson to be fair had enough on his plate as he always reminded her. he’d likely have her seeing his therapist if she started speaking of angels... she didn’t need that in her life, not now. having a guardian angel was an interesting experience to say the least, she’d never picture the leather jacket clad male to be one who was well... the guardian-ing type. but then she supposed a lot changes when you die. 

yeah, carrie didn’t always make the wisest choices, especially once her mom left, that’s where the anger came from mostly, well the source of her feelings varied, but that’s what the therapist would attribute most if not all of it to. now that she could see reggie, well, she would try to be at least a bit considerate of his words, feelings, that sort of thing. but frankly, there aren’t too many people she trusts enough to let in, the dirty candy girls, as well as her nonna when she was around mainly, occasionally her father, but that was very much a... complicated relationship the pair had. 

julie slid her back down the wall of the bathroom stall, trying to just tell herself to breathe. she pulled her knees up, leaning forward to rest her forehead against them, trying to ignore the tears as they fell. realistically, she knows maybe she should get someone. she knows she could text flynn and the other’d be out of class and there in an instant, or even the guys who could just poof to her… but right now she couldn’t bring herself to do that, right now she feels as though maybe it’s just better if she’s alone…

carrie doesn’t have to go to the bathroom, not really. well okay now that she’s walking down the hallway, she sort of does, but that’s not why she really got the hall pass from her pre-calc teacher. she knows her dad’s schedule by heart these days, and even when he’s home it’s hard to hear from the man so... now being the end of his usual psych appointment, she wants to text him while she can. 

carrie wilson has it all, at least on the surface, she’s dressed up today, like she is always. her little booties that couldn’t have come from anyone else’s closet make that little click clack sound on the tiled floor of the hallway and scuff against the metal that bridges the gap between hall and bathroom floor. ‘pick up your feet more carrie’ she hears her last dance teacher’s voice in the back of her mind as the sound of the slide, no matter how brief, echoes in her head louder than it should. 

of course as she whips out her phone (rose gold, obviously), she hears crying from one of the stalls. frankly, carrie wilson can empty a room as quickly as she can fill one, but she’s not the soulless demon flynn likes to call her. acrylic nails type out a message to her father with satisfying taps of the pink acrylic against the glass screen. she’s so graceful for such a seemingly aggressive person. 

                it started out with a ruse on why all of a sudden they were there instead of ― was it sweden that julie had originally said they were from? kayla was someone that had quickly caught his interest and to get to her he had to get to know her friends. carrie was ― against julie’s wishes ― was one of those friends. and carrie seemed to be the type that had been on a horse before or at least would want to.

it had taken reggie a few days to finally get the courage to talk to her. “have you ever been horseback riding? do you maybe want to go? with me. i just um… want to get to know you.”

               honestly, carrie thought this whole situation was sort of adorable, in its own way. kayle had been blushing hard at the end of julie’s little performance, and it was obvious it wasn’t her ex-best friend causing that sort of reaction from the purple girl. that said, she’d hold no ill will towards these guys, these members of her so-called ‘hologram band’. julie didn’t even draw hatred from carrie at this point if she’s honest, more like frustration, and well, though she’d never admit as much, jealousy...
