Jesse allowed himself to be pulled to the couch and let himself fall backwards into it, leaning far back against the cushions. āRentās fineā¦I donāt think Iāve seen it, anywaysā¦but I do know Mattie likes itā¦so I should like it.ā He mumbled as she walked away into the kitchen to make popcorn. Finally her words registered with him and he sat up quickly and looked the way she had gone. āOh! Yeah! Donāt worry about me! Iām not hungry anyways. It would kind of suck if I hurled all over your apartmentā¦so nah.ā He turned back and shrank against the couch.
Once she came back in with the bag of popcorn, he grinned and watched her begin to sit down beside him. Before she made it all the way down, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her right up beside him, moving his arm to sling around her neck. He gently tugged her so that she was leaning against his shoulder and he smiled down at her. āYeah, youāre probably right. If I do wake up with something drawn on me, I know where to find youā¦ā He spoke softly before turning back to the TV.
Dani squealed slightly as he pulled her to him, but she leaned into his embrace a smile widening across her face. Her thoughts flashed through different things before she shoved the thoughts from her head. He didn't like her. There was no way. She wasn't anywhere near good enough for him when all he'd ever been to her was kind. She hated to ruin their friendship, hell, she hated the distance all the time. She wanted to go back to how it was before the whole date even if she still wanted him to know her feelings.
"Wait. Wait. Wait. You haven't seen Rent?! Are you nuts?!" she laughed slightly shaking her head slightly. "Well there's no way I can let you sleep now! And if you do fall asleep I'll have to find a sharpie to draw on your face! It's simply horrible that you haven't seen Rent when it's sooo good, no matter how sad it may be."

I go to AA as often as I physically fucking can, and itās honestly so disappointing to see you show up on my door drunk off your ass. I donāt want you to develop a reliance on it like I did. Jesse smiled down at the top of Daniās head. He knew that she liked him a lot, and he also knew that he probably wasnāt helping her by coming to her house, hanging out with her, and telling her things, but he needed a friend. Of course he had Mattie, but this was different in a way. Ever since the night when she told him about what happened to her so long ago, he just had this connection to her. He felt like he could tell her anything. Why stop that over a little crush she had on him that would most likely go way in a few week?
It wasnāt that he didnāt like her in that way, but it just wasnāt strong enough right now to act on it. If these were just silly fascinations, he didnāt want to hurt her by telling her things that he didnāt mean. Waitā¦was that really how he felt? Or was that just the booze talking to him? He shook his head quickly to clear out the thoughts.Ā
Once Dani looked back up at him, he pasted on a small smile to hide the confusion that was he was feeling. At least, he tried to hide it. Knowing his acting skills along with the alcohol, it probably looked more like he was in some sort of pain. āYeah, okayā¦but I wouldnāt trust my movie picking out skills.ā
Dani smiled shaking her head slightly. "While I may not trust your movie picking skills, it's still better than letting you go out there. I'll just put Rent in even if it is already in," she smirked pulling him to the couch and pointing slightly. "You sit on the couch and I'll make popcorn. Though you may not want to eat the popcorn because I simply don't want you to puke on my living room floor."
She laughed sauntering into the kitchen and making a bag of popcorn before heading back into the living room and plopping down on the couch. As she sat down, she grabbed the remote off the side table and turned the tv on. "Now you're probably going to pass out soon, be happy I don't have a sharpie," she grinned before pressing the play button on the remote. If she had a sharpie she'd probably actually draw a mustache or something on his face simply to irritate him the next day.
