delaney-cabotâ:
âWell, sort of,â Delaney prefaced as the brunette found herself glancing off to the side where the employee stood behind the counter. âWe just need to walk up there together and you just tell them it is your birthday and then theyâll give it to you. I told them your name was James, by the way.â Mainly because she hadnât actually been bothered to learn the manâs name in the first place. He was a stranger in a crowd that sheâd likely never see again but today he was James the birthday boy who just got out of the hospital, a small detail she didnât need to bother him with. âCan you lookâŚtired?â Delaney questioned as the two moved just a bit closer to the front of the line.Â
Callan nodded. That seemed simple enough, and at least she (who got him into this in the first place) would be with him. He looked over the heads of the people in front of him and tried to imagine the conversation he was about to have with the staff, trying to prepare himself. He chewed on his lip as he looked at the woman. âTired? Uh...okay.â He was no actor, but he tried his best. He let his face go slack and pretended to cover up a yawn as they approached the counter.Â
