I think about Samus being inspired by Ellen Ripley a lot.
I kinda wish we saw this bleed into her modern designs more. I feel like sheâs moved more and more towards âgeneric pretty anime girlâ as timeâs gone on. Sigourney Weaver is gorgeous. I feel like thereâs more potential here.

Aww
Can I just say that Harper's fixation on the pc is just so oddly pathetic yet cute
Like 100% the man is a pervert to probably all of his patients, and is up to all sorts of shady shit... but Vrel confirmed in a comment at one point that Harper indeed has a fixation on the pc, and my brain is just going brrrrr... Like man just his entire insistency to get you on medication to get you more pliable... calling you in to see him every single week to touch youâ I mean examine you.. cough cough.
Using hypnotization so he can encourage you to do lewder mindless behavior, and so he can take pictures of youâ (which I'm sorry but we all know he jerks off to secretlv)
Seriously his general need to touch you, see every part of you, and in the asylum, his personally supervised showers especially are so uneccesarry other than the mere fact he's an absolute simp for the pcâŚ
And speaking of the asylum, his kissing lessons????? and the assessments with him intervening when anyone touches/gropes you when he hasn't planned it??? and a big big oof is also his need that before you're free to leave the asylum... that he calls you in for a last private assessment and all professionalism is gone from this man's mind. He even seems sad he can't justify keeping the pc at the asylum, and it doesn't take long before he's already groping and trying to kiss. Like the man is down bad, even stuttering when he says he'd like to keep seeing you every Friday at the hospital still đđđ
Also another scene that lives in my head rent free is that one scene on Remy's farm where he suddenly and impulsively kisses the PC before Remy comes back, like tongue and all... causing Harper to pull away immediately as soon as Remy comes back and stuttering... Like s i r.
Misery.

Teach children that this is not ok
Teach children that thereâs nothing wrong with this
Iâm really not understanding why you think cultural appropriation would be ok, unless you are assuming that the girl in the picture is part Japanese.
Yellow face yet sheâs using white makeup in the traditional style but okay.
Cultural appropriation isnât a thing, hon. âşď¸ Cultures should be shared by all means.
I disagree. The makeup is clearly reflective of traditional Geisha makeup which is yellowface and therefore racist. Furthermore, the girl is wearing a kimono, a garment that has for ages carried cultural significance. Assuming that she is white how can you think this is ok? And cultural appropriation isnât a thing? What rock do you live under? I suggest you educate yourself on the differences between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation.
I am japanese, in japan at this very moment. The only people who think culture shouldnt be shared are racists like you.
A vast majority of Japanese people actually enjoy other people making an effort to spread and enjoy japanese culture, and encourage it. Many make businesses in deliberately taking pictures of people in kimono. A common omiage (gift) for foreigners from japanese people is traditional japanese things such as kimonos, tea seats, shisa dog statues, ect.
And to top it off, basically 80 percent of japanese customs, traditions, and food, came from other countries. Japanese is an integration of different cultures, like america. Japan takes influences from places like korea, china, russia, and europe. If japan stuck to itself, there would be no tempura, japanese tea, tea ceremonies, kabuki, japanese bread, japanese curry, j- pop, anime, cars, or modern fishing techniques. The picture is not âyellow faceâ they are not making fun of asians. In fact, it looks like they put extra care and research into their work.
The only reason that you have a problem with this is because that little girl is white and you know that it is acceptable on tumblr to crap all over white people. The only racist here is you.

Dang she got shut down.
Damn Iâve never hit reblog so fast in my entire fucking life
Daaaaamn
Pew pew pew
I reblog this every time I see it
I live in Japan and Iâd like to back up this sentiment.Â
Recently a museum in Boston came under a lot of fire for allowing visitors to wear a âkimonoâ (it was featuring a painting my Monet of a girl â a white girl â in a kimono, and the museum had replicas made that guests of ANY RACE could wear to mimic the painting, Pageant-of-the-Masters style). After protests and heated debate, the museum closed the event.
I was living in Japan at the time, and out of all the *actual* Japanese people I asked, not a single one was offended by the event. Rather, they were excited that people half a world away were showing interest in their culture, and were sad that visitors could no longer enjoy the event.
This party, though somewhat silly in application, is an attempt at experiencing and appreciating another culture. The mom who put this together is not an expert on Japan, but she did her best. She got a lot of things right: there are few things Japan loves more than tea, Pocky, and sakura.Â
Where do you draw the line for who is âallowedâ to learn about Japan? If the girl were of Japanese descent, would that make it ok (even though her citizenship would be the same as the girl from the photo)? If one of the girlâs parents were from Japan, then would it be ok?Â
Are you only allowed to make pizza if you live in Italy? If youâre an Italian immigrant? How do we decide these things??
You canât say you want to dismantle racism and then in the next breath make rules â based on race â for who people can wear, try, or eat, especially when the intent is obviously to have fun experiencing a culture (as opposed to having fun by making fun of a race or culture, like blackface does).Â
When you tell people they can only experience things âmeant for their raceâ, it totally smacks of segregation to me and I canât stand it. As someone who (obviously) loves Japan, I say let people learn about it, let people experience it, let people appreciate it. You donât have to know every single thing about a culture to enjoy it.
fucking people got owned is what, fuck i hate how people say you cant do shit when culture should be shared and is shared its how it grows and changes through fucking generations itS HOW YOU LEARN about the world and just fucking, tumblr fucking stupid like 70% of the dam time
this new light
FINALLY SOMETHING LIKE THIS BECOMES POPULAR OH MY FUCK
THANK YOU
hell yeah share that culture

Can Tumblr Just Stop
Listen up yâall! Because when it comes to this topic:
I have had it with people saying you canât enjoy something that doesnât âbelongâ to your culture. Apparently youâre racist if youâre a white girl dressing up as Tiana for comic con. Or if youâre wanting to adapt a story from China into a blockbuster movie. Or if youâre trying to cook an ethnic meal even if you have no experience. Because according to Tumblr (and alarmingly a lot of colleges) itâs âculture appropriationâ to even be curious about another country. Seriously. I had to write a paper to explain that you can still enjoy Mexican food even if youâre not from Mexico. And people argued with me. My professor argued with me! They all claimed that if you enjoy food from other cultures that you were stealing from that culture! Really?
I see this kind of attitude all the time about media too. Like, people flip out when they see a black girl playing Eponine from Les Miserables. Or when a predominately white school is performing The Wiz. People just jump into blind hate and claim that these performers are racists⌠but most of the time these performers are doing a role or a show because they love it. Because they connect with it in some way.Â
Hereâs a quote we all need to read:
âYou donât need to be the same ethnicity as the story youâre watching in order to identify with it. If the story is told well. It [a good story] is about relating to people that you may not necessarily think youâre going to relate to in the beginning, but by the end youâre going âThatâs me.â â
You know who said that?
Lin-Manuel Miranda
AKA:
The guy who wrote In The Heights and Hamilton, which did WONDERS in including people of all different ethnicities in mainstream musicals. AND in the interview he said that he was inspired from when he saw Fiddler on the Roof when he was six years old. Even though he was Puerto Rican and the show was about Jews and Russia- he related to the story about the sacrifices you make for your family. Because thatâs something that everyone can relate to.
In other words, a good story can speak to anyone regardless of culture and thatâs okay!
Itâs okay for a Japanese cast to perform In The Heights. Itâs okay for an African American to play Ăponine in Les Miserables. Itâs okay for people to adapt a J-Pop song into English. And itâs okay for a predominately white school to perform Hamilton or The Wiz.
If people are doing something because they genuinely love it, then there is nothing wrong with that. And this applies to everything!!!
If youâre a white girl wanting to wear dreads in your hair because you think it looks cool- GO FOR IT! If youâre a Korean man who loves listening to Latin music- GREAT! If youâre an Irish kid obsessed with learning Japanese- AWESOME! If youâre British and want to try out for Hamilton- NICE! If youâre an African American who jams out to K-Dramas- SWEET! If youâre an American who has moved to South Africa because you want to learn more about local tribes- THATâS SO COOL!
Look:
People shouldnât be guilt tripped into staying in their own cultural norms. I hate it when people say âyou canât enjoy this thing because it belongs to another culture.â
Doesnât that sound a bit racist? Scratch that. IT SOUNDS A LOT RACIST!
Yo, I can kinda see where the anger comes from. I know there are people who claim to know a lot about a different culture⌠when they obviously donât by their actions or mistreatment to those who actually belong to that culture. But there is a HUGE difference between those who are being âentitledâ and those who just havenât learned enough yet. Learning about a different culture takes time! Man, it takes several years just to learn a different language. Much more to learn about social norms and values.Â
And if they get a few things wrong⌠for crying out loud, show some mercy! No one is perfect. Stop with the âall or nothingâ mentality. Show some compassion for those who genuinely want to know more about your amazing heritage/culture.Â
Because most of the time these people are trying their best to learn! In fact, 99% of the time, theyâre self conscious because they know they are an outsider to your thing. But you can teach them. Share your culture. Let it thrive! Give people a chance! If you treat outsiders harshly for learning and enjoying your culture, then youâre harming your own representation.Â
THIS KID IS OUT!
