End of the Road || Emrys & Alec
It is only after spending the day occupying himself with the young pup in his charge, that he toys with the idea of sleep. Lips press gentle to Wesley’s brow and he rises from the bed to let his restlessness drive him from the warmth of his bed. The young wolf is asleep, troubled at his absence, but asleep nonetheless whilst he makes his way downstairs.
A glass of whiskey and a dull moonlight to keep the ache at bay, that was all he’s got to act as a balm. It’s enough distract, at least for now, at least before madness swallows what honor he has left.
There is a knock at the door.
Emrys glances away from the moon, puts away his thoughts, and sets aside his drink. The footsteps are familiar yet he cannot make out the scent until at last he opens the front door. At first, upon seeing Alec, he thinks of telling the man to leave. Yet there is something in the troubled expression that gives him pause. Emrys is patient.
  “What is it you want?”
Standing there, the vampire can hear the path the wolf is making to the door and in that last second, he feels like he's going to choke on his undead heart. The door opens and green eyes settle on the wolf he's spent so long respecting, even if he wasn't liked much in return.
The initial look on Emrys's face makes Alec think he's going to be chased off, but somehow, he's given a chance. He struggles with getting the words up to say, not only because of what he's going to ask but because of the potential ending result.Â
"I can't do it anymore," he manages to get out, doing what he can to keep his voice from breaking. "It ain't gettin' no better and I can't..." It's getting too hard. Arthur is his. They belong to each other and they should be together now. Plans, so many plans and now they're so far out of view, nonexistent doesn't begin to describe.
"I need to know what I have to do... to be allowed back in the North."
