Catie was so happy she got in touch and reconnected with Zeke. As crazy as it sounds but he was one of the first guys she ever went all heart-eyed for. She was just a little ol teenager and he was literally an adult. As weird as it was back then, Catie did consider him a friend, and now that they were both adults --the age gap was not weird anymore and they could continue to be friends. They decided to hang out at the coffee with love and catch up some more, especially with their artwork. “So--show me everything you’ve worked on so far. And get ready for my 100% truthful opinion,” she said with a cheeky grin. “I brought some stuff too so I expect you to be just as rough as I am with you.”

“but look at me.” zeke said and attempted to flash his best set of puppy eyes. “you’re gonna eat all my food and leave me with nothin? how could you do that to this face?”

“Ugh--your face is adorable but for some reason, you’re making me want to punch you,” she laughed. “You have to try harder than that.” It was fun getting a chance to meet up with Zeke and catch up after who knows how long. “Let me tell you--living in the city definitely toughened me up.”

dexter: oh my god catie stop being dramatic!!

dexter: what have you gotta do for this party anyway?

dexter: i've gotta sort out alcohol so i think i'm gonna ask noah if the brewery has leftover stock i can take

catie: idk how not to be dramatic

catie: decorations bc obviously they noticed i'm talented

“exciting and also fuckin’ terrifyin’,” river admitted with a light laugh, “it’s alright even if it is, you just might not get exactly what you’re after.” he teased before giving a small nod in response. “been training about a week, but yeah, fresh here and that. needed something to fill my time with and something that was actually legal so here i am and i actually don’t hate it.”

“I just need some wildflowers-- so maybe daisies or poppies? I need them for some artwork. I would go out and pick some but I do love supporting businesses,” she said with a smile. “Well, I’m glad to hear you’re doing something legal and loving it. That’s always a great thing.”

“okay, okay! i’m just making sure, chill out woman,” dexter teased, “please don’t strand us, i think i’d resort to eating oswald if that happened.” they held up the ferret in their hand, looking at them dead on, “i bet you taste disgusting.” now a diner on the other hand, that was just what dexter was going to need. they loved that comforting food and they knew they were going to need it with the day that was about to go ahead. but as they continued to drive and time ticked on, dexter would have been happy if the journey was to last a little longer because the sooner they arrived, the sooner they’d have to deal with her. and right on cue, catie asked the question which dexter wasn’t really sure of how to answer without sounding like an asshole. “i mean,” they sighed, “part of me doesn’t want to because i haven’t seen her in ten years, but then because it’s been so long, i do want to see her. i just don’t know how she’s going to react to me.” they admitted. “i mean, i’m not exactly the big masculine boy that she wanted, am i? but i don’t want to risk making things worse by purposely not staying over.”

preston: i have to ask because i'm curious, what's my good to bad ratio?

preston: that IS a good idea

preston: i didn't realize you were so smart

preston: tortillas are vegan friendly, right?

preston: this is so much responsibility, i don't even get this stressed building houses! 😩

catie: the bad is catching up !

catie: for the most part - i would double check with whoever is catering

catie: for people with gluten allergies though you'll have to get corn tortillas and not flour - flour is a big no no

Summer smiled at the younger girl. For someone who looked not a day over twenty four, she was sure making the twenty eight year old new parent a lot happier. She peaked her interest, though, when she brought up the ferret “Oh, I’ve never met someone with a pet ferret… I’ve seen them on Instagram, but that’s so cool! Where do you keep him?” She said with a curious tone. “Yeah, I don’t know how many commands she actually knows, but it’d be pointless to add more confusion. New house, new human, new place… She doesn’t need it. So far, it’s been Mapes and Mabes, but give me two hours and I’ll be calling her whatever”

“What????? Ferrets are the sweetest little nuggets to ever live!” she mentioned with a huge smile. She grabbed out her phone and showed the other girl some pictures. “His name is Oswald. He’s two years old and the best fur baby ever. Sometimes he stays in his cage--when I’m out and about, but for the most time when I’m home he roams the house and he sleeps with me in my bed. He’s very well trained and super smart. My brother Dex thinks he’s a rat. But I know deep down they love him.”  Catie smiled, “just be slow with her. As she adjusts to you, she’ll start to know more and more commands.”

preston: take it as you want to sweatie 😌

preston: but seriously, ok, no avocado

preston: anything else?

preston: cuz your brother has given me an idea to do a pasta bar or a taco bar

preston: and given i ain't a fan of pasta i'm prolly going all out with tacos and all that
