The Japanese have many interesting and unique words that don't really exist in English. One of my fav is "Jinba ittai" & it means oneness with the horse. It comes from the unity of horse and rider in mounted archery where the horse is essentially an extension of the man. What does all this have to do with this picture? Well I feel like after many ruined films, out of focused or underexposed photos, I have attained Jinba ittai with my Leica camera and this photo made me realize it. This camera doesn't have auto focus, the exposure meter is off and framing is always a guessing game. But this is exactly why I and so many people love it. You form a special bond with it that can only be explained with a word that doesn't exist in English.

Behind every man is a woman, rolling her eyes, as to why he posts so many photos of her on instagram. Happy #internationalwomensday to all and the one in the center of my life. I got to experience a day (and many more) without women three years ago when Sami got into dental school in LA and let me tell, we need them in our lives, our homes, our jobs. They make everything better.
