For this introductory assignment I have decided to create a lifestyle blog combining three of my passions: fitness, beauty and fashion. The blog will be organized by the three pillars, showing both sides of my personality. This blog will be named “The Mils Trifecta,” named after the three pillars inspiring the content that will be featured with my childhood nickname which has stuck throughout my life much like these parts of my personality. The athletic, sporty, driven parts of myself as well as the part that enjoys the finer things in life such as the simple pleasures of beauty and the inspiration I find from fashion and the style of others.
From a young age, I have constantly been involved in fitness and athletics. I grew up very much so being the “tom boy” type of young girl with a secret curiosity for beauty and fashion that I mostly kept to myself. My family is extremely active and very health oriented so I was surrounded by individuals frequently educating me on what a healthy and balanced lifestyle means. I participated in various athletic activities both in school and, on a professional level, outside of school. This taught me many lessons, which I didn’t realize at the time, would be invaluable in later periods of life. These lessons include communication skills, team work, and above all, self-discipline. As puberty began to hit, I increasingly felt my interests broaden into a more stereotypically-feminine area of beauty and fashion. I think what made me become enamoured with beauty and fashion is the feeling of empowerment it gives me. I believe that it both provides me with tools to express myself from my day-to-day in a way that allows me to showcase however I am feeling each day. Today, I believe beauty is something that exists both on the inside and outside. I believe that if an individual nourishes the things that will make them feel happy, with the things they enjoy they will feel beautiful on the inside, that will translate into an energy that is equally visible on the outside.
Regarding all three themes behind my blog, there is an ever-expanding social media presence in today’s world. There is content being released into the social spaces of countless social media platforms every minute, providing endless information for every topic under the sun. All of this information can be overwhelming to a novice in any field, so with this blog I aspire to educate both myself and the readers of my blog with shared interest in fitness, beauty and fashion with a “grab and go approach”. Through focusing on these subjects I hope to engage my blog’s visitors in exhibiting the benefits and downfalls of what is being shared on social media and how it can both uplift and cause their viewership to scrutinize themselves. This will show that, as with everything, sentiments and tastes will vary for different reasons and I hope to share my opinions through the mentioned topics.
