He hummed. “Good to know.” He tried not to be too affected, though he was sure he was failing. But he really was interested in the movie; it was one of his mom’s favorites, and that did mean something to him.

“I’m there when you want me,” she said, a hand running through her hair. It felt very strange, being around him. Like everything was being shot with a camera, and she was simply watching it.

“Then I guess we’ll have to watch it together sometime.” We. We we we we we. He said it on purpose…sort of.

She looks him up and down for a second, “I’m always down to watch good movies with cute guys.” Though, of course, she was still trying to decide if he really wanted to see the movie, or just say that he would.

He looks down at her phone, humming. “I’ve never heard of either of those guys. I mean, my mom has seen Almost Famous, but I never have.”

“You can’t be a writer and never have seen Almost Famous. That’s wrong,” she said. It was an exaggeration, but still. “You’re definitely a William Miller.” 

“…no,” he admits, shaking his head. “I have no idea who that is. Should I?”

“This is Opie Taylor,” she said, showing him a picture on her phone. It was a picture of a young Ron Howard as a kid playing the role, red haired with freckles, and to her, the epitome of innocence. “Or alternatively, William Miller from Almost Famous.” 

That smile. “Opie?” he laughed a little, brain kickstarting as he started to follow her. He’d follow that smile anywhere. A little embarrassing, but when was his heart not the most embarrassing thing about him?

She links her arm with his as soon as he catches up with her, asking, “You’ve never heard the term Opie?” She squeezed his arm a little, “You know, Opie Taylor?”

nodding her head as she brushed her hair out of her face, trying to tame it slightly, “oh fuck yeah, they are five stars and all.” despite the other’s innocent tone, nina’s was no different from her usual sarcastic bitchy tone. pouting mockingly, “aw did i hog the bed? oops?” throwing the covers off her legs, scannign the room for the pants that were missing, cool looks like i made it this far with no pants? not spotting her own any where she glanced back to the girl, “so guessing you should lock your door in the future, or this may be a new habit of mine.”

“Good for you, I wish you the best in your career.” She just watched the girl look around for something, pointedly ignoring her next statement. She didn’t know if she was trying to get a reaction out of her or not, but for now she decided to bask on the situation and try to understand it. After all, she was a writer. “I’m fine with it, but I think the security guard may have a problem with it.” Then she says, “I didn’t see anything of yours here, if you’re looking for something. Maybe try outside.” 

sliding up in the bed till her back was pressed to the bed frame, looking over at the other, “wow okay bossy, i’m nina, shocked you didn’t know that actually.” the girl knew she had a name for herself on campus, after all she picked fights with some of the most known people. “as for why i’m here, sorry, got no clue. comfy bed though.” 

BV examined her for a second before taking a sip of her coffee. Something told her this girl wasn’t going to be leaving anytime soon. “Why? Are your IMDb credits extensive?” Although she was being sarcastic, she dipped her words with enough innocence to let it pass as curiosity. She set her mug down on her vanity and crossed her arms, “I’m glad you were comfortable.” 

His brain was officially oatmeal. She kissed him. It was a dream, one he was pretty sure he was going to wake up from all alone and wishing he never had. “wha - oh, definitely,” he breathed, watching her, absolutely kiss-dumb. How did that even happen?

“Are you coming, Opie?” she asked, showing one of the few smiles she’d shown in her life. She turned and watched him stand there, a little dumb, a little dizzy. He was an easy target, which made all of this a little more fun. 

He blushed, felt it from the tips of his ears down under the collar of his shirt. He could see it on her face, he was busted. “I don’t really write about nature. I know it doesn’t make sense, but - I never feel like anything’s…happening?” He knew it wasn’t really true, because there was always something happening in nature, but people seemed to move more. “Maybe!”

BV shrugged, getting a little closer to him, “I just think there’s something about the way that everything moves. Everything is sort of... happening at once, you know?” She leaned in and kissed him softly, lingering for a few moments before saying, “Well, now I know that you will.” She smiled softly at him, turning around and starting to walk away.

Goosebumps. How did she give him goosebumps without even touching him? “I like to write about people. It’s the most organic thing to write about.” That was how it made sense; people were real. “…Maybe.”

She smiled softly, because that maybe sounded like a yes to her, and there was something about getting into people’s heads she loved. “Really? I’d say nature is.” She hummed, “I’m taking it as a yes.” 

He didn’t even have anything to say, words stuck a little when her hands were so close, that smile on her face. “I - well, not everyone,” he defended, though he wasn’t sure why he felt a need to. “Just…people that make me feel something.”

She hummed, moving her hands a little so they were barely grazing his. “Really? You seem like the type that would.” Not that it was a bad thing. She went through a similar phase the summer she turned seventeen. “Will you be writing about me?”

She was like magic, sort of; she’d look at him and he’d feel like he was under a spell, like that song from Hocus Pocus. It was kind of heartbreaking, in its way, but he didn’t think he’d trade it for the world. “I guess so.”

“I’m going to make an assumption about you.” It came out like a warning. She leaned forward, her hands very nearly touching his. There was a sly smile on her lips, but she tried to not make it too obvious. “You write a poem about almost every person you meet, don’t you?” 

byron rolled over on to his stomach to face the blonde as he snapped his fingers at her , shaking his head enthusiastically , “ no , don’t you see ?! that’s it , you got it ! “ he let out a belt of laughter and rolled back over on to his back , but his lopsided grin continued to play at his lips as he put the cigarette to them. he inhaled deeply , exhaling the smoke back out through his lungs , “ if they’re killing me and everyone that partakes in the lovely little poison then of course it is , oui ? “ he snickered as he lolled his head to the side in order to once again look at her , “ the notebook ? mm ,  noah was on to something though , non ? “ he gave her a wink before shifting his attention back to the changing traffic lights overhead. green. yellow. red. he counted the seconds in between each shift. 

“There are quicker ways to die,” BV shrugged. She’d never had a taste for cigarettes, or their smell. They just looked good on camera if anything. Watching him lie in the middle of the street while smoking one seemed like a true death wish if she’d ever seen one. She watched the smoke curl in the dark. Holding her fingers up in two L shapes, she tried to frame the scene as if she was getting ready to film it. The camera followed the smoke as it dissolved in the air. “The human race kills itself and nature rebalances? Poetic.” BV rolled her eyes at the wink once he turned away before saying, “If you ask me, they both were. Anyone who will lie in the middle of the street has to have been smoking something good.”
