Ooh this was difficult, I feel like I know a lot of songs but not a lot of artists, y'know? Anyway, I won't be beating the emo allegations after this.
Fall Out Boy
Panic! At The Disco
Will Wood/Will Wood and The Tapeworms (counting them as one cuz it's the same guy)
Bear Ghost
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
Lowkey forgetting all my mutuals uhh @bush-hobo + everyone else I most definitely forgot
I have wayyyy more than 5, but currently, at this very moment the ones that I'm listening to the most, not overall favourites are probably
Grizzly Bear
The Strokes
Broken Social Scene
Charlotte Sands
and Nils Frahm
@radiantlobster28 @marauding-almond @quehecke
Firstly, when you get this, you have to answer with 5 things you like about yourself, publicly. Then, send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool) <3
Thank you so much for the ask!
1. I like my hair ever since I cut it.
I cut my hair short on a whim when I was 14 and then regretted it immensely bc I missed having long hair. I tried to grow it back to the way it was despite everyone telling me my hair would look better short and in the end I cut it short in March of this year and it looks good.
(Even better : the last song that played in the hair salon while I was cutting my hair was Good Luck Babe! and then when I left there was a nice breeze that lifted my hair up I felt like I was in a movie it was awesome)
2. I reread one of the fanfics I wrote recently and despite a few glaring typos that I fixed, I was proud of how much my writing has improved. Usually when I reread stuff I wrote a while ago it makes me cringe (the pjo self insert fic I wrote when I was 14… it’s never seeing the light of day that was embarrassing) and who knows maybe in 5 years my writing will have improved again and I’ll cringe at that fic too but it’s a sign I’ve improved nonetheless and that’s good too.
3. I love that one of my middle names (I have two, one in French and one in Mandarin) was chosen by a Chinese astrologer and one of its first meanings is literally “gay”. I am aware they meant gay as in happy but let me have this. I was always meant to be gay it was written in the stars.
(This is an explanation of what my name means written by my grandfather. I looked at it recently with my friends to show them what my name meant and had a good laugh at one of the first definitions being “gay”)
4. I went to my grandparent’s house (I’m there right now) and they kept some old class photos of us when we were younger. I looked so adorable as a kid.
5. People often tell me I have nice handwriting and I love that. (It depends though, when I need to write fast my handwriting greatly deteriorates)
Tagging @seolihexagon @knighthans @lady-of-the-pomegranates @intothepast9 @darcycarstairs @outromoonyy @percyseas @sebastianscouch @imthe-devilwho-wearsprada + anyone who wants to participate!
This is really lovely and thank you for the tag! Your handwriting is gorgeous and that's so cool about your middle name! I'm blatantly doing this 6 months late because it showed up and I felt too shit about myself to do it 6 months ago.
I feel like I actually am smarter than I was a few years ago, or at least I think a bit more critically than I did. I've recently passed the age mark we count as brain development (though... people's brains don't actually all stop developing on their 25th birthday exactly haha). I was afraid I'd feel mentally stagnant after that, but I don't; I can see ways I've grown similarly to how I could as a teenager.
I find shit i say and think funny. Idk if others do but I'm the only person who's around me 24/7 so I matter more than average here. If we're imprisoned without our own consciousnesses at least i can usually find mine amusing <3
I read a lot of nonfiction, and I've learned things from it. Anyone want a fun fact?
I try things out that I'm kind of shit at. Like... I don't know, the chance to be kind of in over my head helps me learn things
I've gotten a lot physically stronger and healthier over the past few years. I do strength training now, which i never would have done as a teenager
No pressure but this wanted to send you this if you're interested! Open to anyone though! @toastedmooshroom @sidelit @pandalilslover @starless-gaze @pinknbae
@koolkuteklever @lovely-lavender-sunshine @goldfishinabottle
Thanks for the tag :D
(@intothepast9 regarding your number 3, yes I would like a fun fact)
I love that I love to learn about stuff and collect random knowledge that will literally never be useful, but it's fun and makes me happy.
I'm so fucking weird, and I mean this in the best way possible. I am so fucking WEIRD. And it's AMAZING. I don't know what the hell is going on with me 99% of the time, but I am VIBING and it is GREAT.
I'm so much better at taking care of myself than I used to be.
How passionate I get about things, even if they're only hyperfixations and I forget about them after a week.
My piercings. I don't usually change out my studs, but I love having a whole bunch of metal shoved through my ears. I feel like it shows off a part of my personality that I'm proud of.
(No pressure <333) @lastpigeonparty @constantlymusing @knighthans @bookishbabe27 @ashylittlebookworm @high-on-kaolin @getsquashedbug @sockssketchingshack @kiraandhervibes @ramblingsfromthytruly

i just wrote the first things that came to mind
my appreciation for normal things, just the way i look at everyday things sometimes
my love for listening to new music & albums
how much i love writing & regard myself a writer (regardless of good i am, or how much i actually do it)
in general how i am not a doom-y/pessimistic person to be around
taking pics, something i've been doing more frequently over the past 2 years

Thank you for the tag Mithi 🩷
1. How much I love learning new things
2. I actually like how I look nowadays which is cool
3. How excited I get over cool things, big and small
4. That I like helping people
5. That I don't want to die anymore
Gonna edit with the people to tag in a sec because I can't remember names
@thekamikazepigeon @that-dam-heartstopper-fan @haventhefrog @dandelionsgivelifemeaning @fictionalsimp09
(apologies if any of you don't want to be tagged)
Thank you for the tag!!!
Right let's see
1. I like that I am getting better at sewing and that I've found something I really enjoy doing
2. My general appearance now that I cut my hair and got a nose piercing, plus a whole ton of cool button up shirts
3. My music taste. Call me emo all you want I will love Fallout Boy forever
4. My imagination. I'm having such a fun time out here thinking about all my fanfic ideas and stuff I can sew and how I can get it all to work
5. The way I move when I dance. Oddly specific, but there is something beautiful about being able to create art with the way you move, y'know?
@bush-hobo uuh can't think of anyone else who hasn't already been tagged right now
Thanks for the taggg
Erm, I. Random, but I like my hairline? Very straight, very pleasing to me.
2. I kinda like how I look at the moment? Leaning more fem man than masc woman which is fire and the aim. Also summer freckles. Tuff.
3. I like my creativity. Kinda cheesy but I love making shite sooo much, and it's wild that I'm able to make money off of music and art! I love my instruments and all my hobbies and everything. It makes me so happy. And playing a couple paid gigs last year, and selling my first piece to somebody, OUTSIDE OF MY FAMILY was crazy!
4. I like how I talk. I like being a little articulate, and my general accent. I love learning about language and etymology and studying other languages and seeing that come across in day to day conversations.
5. I love my fitness or something? I guess? I've been doing a lot of tramping and running and stuff recently, and I love it so much. I love being able to run and feel fast, I love being able to carry something heavy for days and days and being able to climb mountains and still have energy after walking for 12 hours. I love being able to race my friends and win, I love being able to move and run and climb, and I'm so grateful for my body being able to do all this amazing stuff. (Though currently stuck with 3 overuse injuries in my foot. But we shall return and conquer soon.)
(6.) I love my ability to somehow weirdly gather all these incredible people around me. I'm so grateful for my amazing friends and the various groups of humans I've stumbled across. I'm very lucky.

Books You Read in 2025 Tag Game
post some of the books you read last year, then tag others to do the same!
Thank you so much @ampersands-and-ellipses for tagging me in this game! You’re very right, I do like this :) I read 34 books last year, so here’s the graphic Storygraph made for me!!

i usually keep excellent records of all the books i've read, but weirdly, i didn't do that last year. so here's some of the ones i remember, i know i'm missing a lot of excellent ones though
One of my favourite books of the year was a book called (I think) Royals, about a friendship between a young queer fashion designer and a depressed rich girl in 90's London, but I've forgotten the author and can't find it anywhere. (If this reminds you of anything please let me know!)
@ramblingsfromthytruly @thekamikazepigeon @ravensncrowsx @fictionalsimp09 @caramello-koalas-for-feminism + anyone who likes books!
Please excuse the hideous formatting, I made it on my phone on ibis paint
I only read 39 books in 2025, and 32 of them were BL. Wow. I need to branch out again. (Is this better or worse than my 2024 stats of over 100 books and over 70 BL?)
Anyway reading is great and everyone should read Peerless because it is a great series
@bush-hobo + anyone else who likes books
Hehee I made you read one of those. I didn't count how many books I read last year at all. A lot of them were graphic novels, and reallyyy shite but very entertaining young adult books, and a few poetry collections and philosophy and shite. I'm so very literary trust. Totem and taboo made me less angry than beyond good and evil so it made the cut. Honourable mention to 'the Sunbearer Trials,' not incredibly written, but oh my god having a trans masc main character was so good. I think including everything it'd be around 50? Including graphic novels though, prolly only about 20 real books. R.I.P. I'm just gonna do my top favourite novels, David Mitchell you are a gift to my poor, fried brain:

Diary log #1067: 1:52am
Successfully gaslit family into thinking hair was always curly
Perhaps can do same with gender?
flinched when my brother went to kick me then remembered I don't have balls
Roads
The road beside my house has always been rather quiet.
A dull, concrete river wrapped around the bays, fitting rather nicely into the scenery. Less of a scar, perhaps a stretch mark. Growing pains of Otago.
I get off the bus about 2 minutes walk from my house. 45 seconds at a desperate sprint with my cello. 30 if I’m carrying nothing, feet drumming against the pavement as I race the bus home.
I have won twice.
I don’t tend to run the distance much anymore. I take it at a quiet pace, one foot in front of the other.
Perhaps I will push my brother up the small incline, his scooter wheels crackling, spitting stones at my shins. And maybe when we reach the top and he starts to coast, gathering speed, I shoot after him, a small part of me afraid to be the one left behind.
But mostly I walk alone. A quaver rest from the noise.
And when I’m quiet, dragging a stick along a fence, misjudging a kick at a stone, I can hear the road. The warm potholed concrete, I am drawn to it, to meet it, to stand in the middle, looking straight down the bay, to coax the roaring metal around the bend, and the road whispers back, “How long can you wait?”
So I stay.
Every day I stop a little longer, a slow spin across the midlines, a pebble grabbed from cracked tarseal. Scurrying off as an engine sounds in the distance.
But the road, the void, drags me back. So I return.
Each afternoon, a couple seconds pass, motionless in the middle of the lanes, listening to its quiet voice.
“Stay.”
I pause, hands falling from my instrument’s straps-
- just before I can kneel, follow the quiet in my head, a gull cries.
Or the neighborhood cat swans down the path and my friends' faces dance into my mind's eye.
I stumble back onto the pavement, my cello groaning as wood hits wall.
One foot in front of the other.
Speech I did for school
On Second Chances
Winter is around the corner.
Perhaps, it is already here. I can smell it when I step outside, rotting leaves and icy mornings. I so enjoy the quiet way winter creeps up on us here, how it seems to hide in the cracks in the road, creeping out from under the hedge, slowly, slowly it rises, and the world is covered in the calm blanket of a Dunedin winter. But the seasons seem to speed up every year, until I’m blinking in flashes of blues and golds and greens and reds, faster and faster and faster and fast—
There is one constant in my world.
A dull reminder at the back of my head, leaching into the technicolor acid trip of the teenage experience.
I am not infinite.
We, are not infinite.
And suddenly, the seasons do not seem so beautiful anymore.
They are dark things, lurking either side of a road I am sprinting down with my eyes closed.
One of my worst fears- though, a privilege to even have it- is that I will spend my personal infinity on the wrong things. That I will live and die in the boxes given to me. I have built up these standards of grandeur, these ideas of what I must do to have lived a full life. But those musts, those standards, were never once a true requirement.
I am alive.
I can climb trees, and fall from them too. I can chase my friends through the school to the great dismay of the teachers, I can throw paper darts from cliffs, watching them spiral into the grey of the approaching clouds, I can scramble onto my roof and yell at my friend across the bay.
I can run.
I can feel.
I can love, laugh, cry, scream. And when I slowed down enough to notice, that was all I ever needed.
This speech is a letter to my friend.
On June 8th, 2019, at around 1pm, she was found dead at her own hand.
My friend, there is so much left. And I wish you would have stayed. Dear god, I wish- I wish you would have stayed.
But you are gone. She is gone. And now, I must look with two pairs of eyes. I watch everything so carefully, collecting memories like river stones. Holding them in my mind’s eye, bright autumn colours, mountains, towering buildings, animals. I smooth them and tuck them away, a catalogue of reasons I will never get to show her. She is not here to listen to my thesis on why it’s worth it.
But I realise, through my grief, through my desperate attempts to convince another that all of this is enough, that this world is bright and hopeful despite everything, I have somehow convinced myself.
And it wasn’t as hard as I thought.
I cannot tell her, I seem to have already told myself, so, there is only one left.
This speech is a letter to you.
It’s beautiful here.
And maybe, just maybe, if enough people listen, if enough people stay. It’ll make the empty chairs hurt a little less.
So listen.
You get to be here, you get to laugh and cry and feel. You get to get your feet wet, to fuck up, to start again. You get to bite into crunchy fruit, stay up all night working on stuff, stumbling through the next day. And it is so beautiful, everything, is so stupidly beautiful. These tiny things, these little, inconsequential things, they make this world worth it.
And they make us who we are.
We are all mosaics, pieces of everything we’ve seen and experienced, sewn together by the thread of what we were, what we are. We are the heartbreaking text posts found at 3 am, the smell of wet concrete. We are election anxiety, corporate greed. We are clouds. We are our great grandmother’s tears, our dying lawns. We are street lights flicking off at precisely 7:43am. We are our world, the sky, the oceans, everything perfect and everything broken and all the shades in between. We are this messy planet, shooting through the aether in all its writhing beauty, and you would carve yourself out of this artwork?
Stay.

So turns out 80% of life's problems disappear when sun friends and beach
Almost drowning brings you closer to god
So turns out 80% of life's problems disappear when sun friends and beach
truly dads with new born babies v dads with children are two completely different people this man used to strap this child to his chest with a double chest wrap because he was terrified of giving her shaken baby syndrome and now he just kinda hucks her , I'll be sitting on the bed and all of a sudden my child just comes soaring towards me
Husband when child was newborn: you are my beautiful soft amazing little creature and I will be so gentle and lightly clean you softly and sing you sweet songs
Husband now that child is 4 years old: carries feral child upside down into the bathroom telling her she is a smelly little beast and she has to wash her butt while she sings him songs about spraying him with the shower head
Husband when child was newborn: "bath time and bed time is my special one on one time with my sweet baby angel where I tell her how special and soft and sweet she is and spend much needed time relaxing and getting her to relax and snuggling"
Husband now that child is 4 and "sturdy" (his words not mine): "bath time is my special time for hand to hand combat with my warrior princess where I teach her how to throw a punch and try to exhaust her enough that she passes out until tomorrow, and if that doesn't work I just start making deals like she's a mob boss and I am a desperate flunkie"
My four year old daughter and I have the exact same dynamic, and it is glorious.
My dad threw me when I was 4, and broke my arm which without context is a wonderful story to tell people.

My childhood fixation book series that got me into reading was percy jackson, what was yours?
I think it was dork dairies, but my brain don't go that far
Making this a tag game:
@biggestqiblifan @fukurouonthesea @deciduowl @caniac-in-chb @your-local-depressed-fangirl @linlovesnoodles
I honestly don’t know why I love reading so much. I never had a particular series that I had to read over and over before Percy Jackson so ima just go with that 👍
@rougenightowl @krowturnedkid @loveution @supermarket-in-california
I don't think there is a specific series that got me into reading, but I can credit Aiden Thomas’ books for that.
@the-viola-urge-to-be-cesario @sunmoonyandstars @foundheaven013
my school’s library had a ton of Nancy Drew books, i think that’s what got me into reading
@redwinesupanover @xoxo-iv @drpeppercreamsodaa
percy jackson definitely
i still reread my pjo and hoo set at least twice a year 🤫
@grim-hedonism @mossycereustea @whoa-axel-chill
thanks for the tag pepper :D
well.. by the time i read percy jackson i was already into my reading phase. honestly, i think the book series that got me really committed in terms of reading full series was Goddess Girls :)
(do any of yg know that series? 😭 i was literally addicted, i would read every single book even though they kept making more)
also that was when i got really into greek mythology which eventually led to pjo lol
no pressure tags: @its-morii @pomeqranatejuice @sweaty-toothed-mad-woman @tasty-cilantro and anyone else who wants to join!!
mine were Harry Potter and magic treehouse (both in first grade)
but wings of fire was my life. Wings of fire was so good I wrote fanfiction before I knew what it was.
npt: @atlasoflanternlight, @sweaty-toothed-mad-woman, @mothwingsmayy
ty for the tag!!
mine was either magic treehouse or a-z mysteries (forever mad the cover design was changed for the worse), though I always loved reading and would always read whatever books I could get my hands on. but those were the first series I read all the way through.
npt: @ellsmarox @landofshazza @quillkillerblack
Ahh ty!
Oooohhh, this is hard. I've literally been reading for as long as I remember. What got me into liking books was probably Harry Potter bc my mum would read it to me and my sister every night when I was like...7? But first independent reading would be the Billie B Brown series. They were my everything in year 3.
Nptttt! @asserting-my-dominance @oh-my-lord-its-an-american @folkloresencen @artanarchyandarchery @missmelly-69 @knighthans @siriuslydepressed12 @in-your-wall-s
It was the Wings of Fire (which I’m currently rereading) and the Knights of Emeralds

Ooh this is tough because I inhaled a million books in my early years...
I think Magic Treehouse and Warriors, mainly, but honorable mentions to I Survived, Diary of a Whimpy Kid, some random cookbooks, Wings of Fire, and R.D. Henham's 'Dragon Codex' series, though there's a ton more that I've forgotten.

tyy and also ty @knighthans for tagging!
I kinda always really loved reading just about anything
I think it was really mainly Emily Rodda's books though, especially 'The Glimme' or 'His Name Was Walter' or 'The Magic Faraway Tree' series and then Harry Potter ofc :)
@starmanbutitsregulusblackk @thekamikazepigeon @salmadoesshitsometimes + open!
Thanks for the tag :)
I consumed books at an unhealthy rate as a child, but the first book I remember reading and really enjoying was Thea Stilton: The Secret of The Snow. After that I was a big fan of HTTYD and Percy Jackson books as well, plus a lot of David Walliams books.
@marauding-almond @sensationalstardust @bush-hobo + anyone else :)
Thanks for the taggg Mine was Guardians of Guardians of Ga'Hoole, The Church Mice, Jaqueline Wilson books, and the Moomins... Extremely literary choices.
