Meet the Artist: buriandfriends 🐠
Lo! The name's Miguzi (she/her, 26). I'm a digital artist and graduate student who makes a lot of character design and concept art illustrations. This blog @buriandfriends is dedicated to Zatch Bell/Konjiki No Gash!! and Code Lyoko (but expect to see more as I see fit). You might have noticed but my username is based off of CN's Miguzi block haha. I have so much nostalgia for this era and it truly sparked my love for animated shows and anime-esque media. I mostly work with 2D drawing programs (Procreate and CSP).

You can find me on Reddit, Twitter/X, Bluesky; and Instagram, Tiktok for more reels and humorous edits.
My goals for this year are two-fold: (a) Show my love and appreciation for Zatch Bell! a series that has captivated my imagination since 6 years old. This series deserves so much and the fact that we have a sequel in my lifetime?? I can't believe it; (b) Improve my art skills and experiment with new concepts and techniques (I would love to do more animatics :)
Some random facts to get to know me:
--My favorite human/demon team is Tio and Megumi. Fun fact: I've met Megumi's English VA at a convention a few years ago; she was there for Naruto, so I did not ask about her Zatch Bell roles lol. But I did get her signed autograph with Sailor Mercury on it, another voice role she's done. Oddly enough, this moment resparked my Zatch Bell interest years later.
--One team I would love to see in the sequel is Reycom and Hosokawa, just to see how the "evil" pairs have changed over the years. Ice powers are so fun to me.
--Other media I enjoy: Code Lyoko, Totally Spies, Class of 3000, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, Prince of Tennis, Winx Club, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, YuGiOh. I have an affinity for 2000s dubs that people hate; I can't even blame nostalgia, I just think they have a charm about them that is so specific to that time.
--Gemini, INFP: I am curious, inquisitive, and emotional. Bear with me.
--I also sew and cosplay :) One of the things I love about ZB is the character design, there's a bit of an anachronistic feel to it. The demons feel both old and modern in a sense, and I think it speaks to the craftsman/fashion history nerd and sparks so many theories about the origins/time/place of the Demon World within the story.
Join me on the journey, won't you?
