— SUMMARY : ni-ki, wanting to pull a prank on his best friend jungwon, writes his phone number on the wall of one of the girls’ bathroom stalls. what happens when y/n, who happens to come right after him, notices it and decides to text that unknown number ?
chapter 9 : coup de foudre
"thank you baby," ningning said as she playfully pulls you in for a side hug while you two were walking down the street. "i love you."
you scoff, "and i don’t…" you say, a small smile on your face at her lively nature. "in fact, i low-key don’t like you…" this statement made her look at you with a pout on her face. "—to be honest ! i’m an honest person you know !"
you hear your phone ding signalling you somebody sent you a message ; "oh uh my mom wants me to go get her some eggs …" you stop walking to go back to the grocery store. "wait i’ll go with you."
"no, it’s okay ningning i don’t want you to miss your bus ! thank you," you smile at her and hurry back in the grocery store.
a storm breaks out as you walk out of the store. you curse under your breathe, "why does this only happen to me…"
you find refuge under a nearby store’s shelter, and heavily sigh waiting for the rain to calm down a bit.
seeing as 20 minutes passed without the rain getting any calmer you decide to just (by hook or by crook) run to your place, grunting out of displeasure.
you try to use your hands as some kind of replacement for an umbrella as you didn’t bring one, nor did you think of bringing a jacket : to no use.
the ground is slippery, your feet start to tumble and you ridiculously fall down, face first, in the middle of the street. "fuck, fuck, fuck !"
you curse as you feel no rain falling down on your skin anymore, "i think i needed this before i fell down and embarrassed myself…" you think.
you start to get up and look up to see the person you least expected to see, holding an umbrella above you to protect you from the rain.
"jungwon—" you say, still sitting on the wet ground. he holds his hand out for you to take, "get up."
you take it and clumsily get up, your feet still slipping on the ground.
"are you hurt ?" you look him in the eye, eyebrows slightly frowned as if trying to understand the reason why he decided to help you. all he does is look everywhere but your eyes.
"you know … you shouldn’t just run when it’s raining like that."
"you looked like a fucking maniac."
"… yeah i guess so but —"
"no really i got extreme second hand embarrassment when you fell down on the ground."
"jungwon stop —" you say as you punch him on the shoulder, "i already feel extremely ridiculous right now so don’t add fuel to the fire, please…"
he lightly laughs and you just scoff at that as you quickly walk past him. "wait!"
you turn around to see him holding his umbrella out to you. "take it. i think you’ll need it more than i do."
you both feel your hearts syncing to the raindrops’ beat as you look into each other’s eyes. suddenly, a thunder breaks, but you just lightly gasp at the sound, too engulfed into the eye contact.
you take the umbrella as you look at him go away.
a/n : i got inspired by the umbrella scene in miraculous yall 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 im sorry i just love it AND ALSO the french expression "coup de foudre" literally means "hit of thunder" and it represents love at first sight and i love the analogy so LOLOL also this chapter is kinda bad but its okay cause y/nwon content amirite
