a lot of bof tumblr dont know how to tag and its rlly bothering me 😭 @boftumblr.. please learn to tag!

ive seen several posts on the hanpo tag of people judging those who like it bc its a ‘straight rpf ship’, and there are several posts saying they just like their friendship and dont like when people ship them cause its weird, and also there are some that dont even talk abt them and only talk about popiso. you can share all of that without tagging hanpo. ppl who use the tag and look at the tag are doing it to find hanpo content! not to find unrelated content or ppl who dont like it!

(this applies to other bof tags as well if people do this kinda thing under them too)

sometimes I see (and ive only seen this on tt, idk if theres people like this on here) people try to say that they feel like anthony is too mean to hanbon and that they dont like their dynamic cause of that bc oh poor hanbon when not only are they all playing exaggerated characters, these people have been making content together for about five years now and have felt comfortable making those kind of jokes with each other throughout a lot of it. i also dont like how its always ppl saying that anthony is so mean and hanbon deserves better when hanbon is in on it too 😭 she is hitting him pretty much every video and he says “ow” repeatedly.. thats not to say that shes the rude one, its just to say they are obviously v close friends who enjoy being a bit mean to each other which is a common bit in a lot of close friendships. they will be fine

ppl are not entitled to like rpf but i dont like the behavior that “other content creators have seen ppl ship them together and it made them uncomfortable so they stopped being friends bc of it” around bof especially bc i see this a lot in comment sections about hanpo when these are two people who have been making content together for several years and people have made shipping comments abt them for a large portion of those years and theyve never felt entitled to address them and put an end to them. hanbon calls his mom “mom” and her literal nickname that we all call her by is based off of ‘anthpo’ 😭

these people are not going to see a ship edit of them or see a comment genuinely asking if they are dating and block each other (i know more depth goes into this kind of scenario, this is meant to be silly). also if they were super uncomfortable by it, i feel like there would not be several jokes/comments abt it on the literal bof channel “i think he likes you/do you like me hanbon/who do you find most attractive? - bon” like 😭 (this is NOT to say that i think people should be more outward about wanting/thinking theyre together in the sense of putting it in the actual creators comment sections and under bof videos ofc, i hope nobody misinterprets what im saying here, i am speaking abt general fandom content) (also begging other hanpo enjoyers on tt to stop saying you think theyll get married soon omg it makes me cringe so bad like that is smth i want people to stay away from completely. this isnt a common thing but bleh)

I think the reason some hanpo shippers feel like there arent a lot of shippers out there is bc there is not a lot of them in terms of fancontent. there are a lot of compilations, but those are clips weve already seen of them. there is a lack of actual fanfics and fanart and etc. on ao3, there is almost abt to be 80 popiso fics, while there are 7 hanpo fics, 4 of which are actually popiso fics (I am sure those are great and i am glad there is a fanfic community there, this is just to make my point), and so there are a total of three fics about them

like the fanfic community around popiso is so cool and ppl are very willing to support each other there. but there isnt really a community like that for hanpo shippers. I do think a lot of people are willing to write fics abt them, but bc there is such a ratio in fics and community, it can feel awkward to do lol. there have been times where I’ve seen tt comment sections talk about popiso fanfics and be very supportive about it (which is great!!!!), and then on other videos abt hanpo, I’ll see comments like “someone said they wrote a fic of them which is so weird” and more things along those lines so 😭 idk there needs to be more unity here. I need ppl to spread their hanpo angel wings and let themselves be.

(also i worded this all very carefully but to specify even more: this is not a ‘hanpo vs popiso thing”. these words are too niche for that to exist without being stupid. there are people who frown upon popiso content and that sucks and i am not denying that, i just didnt address that here bc this isnt abt that. and its also the multishippers who carry hanpo fancontent so i ❤️ you guys. shoutout to the popiso fic community. also side note: i want more non-ship fics as well.. give me more Will discovering magic is real or some bullshit idk.)

willbon (their personas) is adorable and i need them to have more moments together 😭😭😭 i loovee anthwill and yadayada but i believe will and bon should interact a bit more 👀👀👀

what i’m saying is that yes we don’t get popiso together a lot as a pairing but i don’t think its because of the shipping, rather i mostly think its because coy and anthony’s characters in bunch of friends are the ones who “get stuff done” while hanbon and will (who are also never paired together btw) are the whimsical and spontaneous ones, so it doesn’t make sense for either pair to be together during typical videos — they need balance in their dynamics for the structure of the channel and the expectations of the viewers to be maintained, every spontaneous character has their serious counterpart to keep them focused on the task more or less.

and the few times we see this broken is when there is an important task to be done or when the video isn’t their typical style for example in the driving till we run out of gas video we get willbon and popiso paired at the very end because there is an Actual problem that needs to be solved and it requires the two “serious” characters to work together to get them out of the situation with coy staying near the car (for safety of the car + bc of his prank leaving him unable to wander) and anthony going to get the gas. while will and hanbon get to complete the spontaneous side quest that they set up at the start of the video. as for atypical videos i think we can all agree that the jonas brothers video was a VERY different type of video than the others on their channel, it has a completely different atmosphere and the reason why is because they had to figure out s way to compliment the dynamics that were sorted out in the random decision, its a much calmer video lol.

i just think instead of jumping to the worst conclusions and fearmongering about rpf when we’re a pretty small community as it is just causes more harm and brings more attention to everything rather than thinking about the practical explanations of why popiso — and willbon lest we forget AGAIN that they do not get paired together either — don’t get one on one screen time together the same way willcoy, hanpo, coy & hanbon, and anthwill do.

in general the worst thing that can be done in an rpf space is make the rpf the main topic of discussion, its how it gets spread around faster and actually becomes an issue that the creators have to address. its important to be mindful of how much discourse is too much and understand that you can’t control everybody but making it a huge issue just makes it worse for everyone else involved whether they enjoy rpf or not — not to mention its really up to the creators if they want to address it or not, they have the power to shut it down or allow it and they also have the power to ignore it and in that case its our job to be vigilant and respectful.
