Been watching the Pokémon anime with my bestie for awhile now and we just finished S1

Leagueshipping (Ash x Ritchie) is so fucking good I need you all to see the vision
They meet in Ritchie’s first episode, realize they like each other like immediately and are like freshly dating by the next episode in which they are paired against each other in indigo league
They go into the battle with the promise to make it the best battle ever, and an agreement that the winner take the loser out on a date after.
But Ash is so crushed by his loss the next day that he ghosts him afterwards.
But inevitably through the plot of the episode they realize they still really really like each other and get back together.
But only briefly because by the end of the days events they determine that they care more about their respective journeys.
They hold hands during the final ceremony, and a tender kiss under the celebratory fireworks.
They part with the promise of meeting again and having a epic battle,
And they do a few years later during a league tournament, and despite the time apart the feelings are still there.
They finally go on a real date, and rekindle their romance, and determine they don’t want to separate again and decide to travel together.
Best part? If you watch the actual episodes they are actually improved by the dating HC and it lines up with some of the dialogue and plot beats really well :)

I have been consumed by the thought of Ash and Pikachu in a spinoff game because i realized wait this plot works for ash and this could be really cool and as such have written like 3,700 words of story... and over 900 words of notes.
I don't want to say which spinoff it is publicly yet, and if this does become a thing I'm probably gonna wait until it's at least a third of the way done before I start posting.
What I will reveal at this point:
It's one of the shorter and less densely-packed spinoff games.
I've chosen to set the starting point of the story in early Sun and Moon, after Ash catches Litten but before the trip to Akala Island.
I've realized that with all the different ways you could interpret Ash's character and have it work that the statement of the story working well with Ash is incredibly vague and this gives essentially no indication of what's actually going on, and depending on what direction you're thinking of what I'm actually doing could catch you completely off-guard.
... Don't think I'm in any hurry to change that, though.

on multiple occasions i have seen people on socials excited for palworld 1.0 and it has taken me a moment to realize they aren't doing a bit and are genuinely excited
Do you know nothing about capitalism. This is coming from an avid anti-estabishment. More competition is good for us. This is a marathon, not a fucking sprint. Read a book.
see, here's the thing: it is absolutely possible to create a monster capturing game that could compete with Pokemon. It wouldn't win, it wouldn't even come close, the sheer market dominance of Nintendo and The Pokemon Company is too overpowering for any competitor to have a reasonable chance of doing that.
The problem is that nobody is going to do that because every attempt to do so is an attempt to compete with the superficial elements of what Pokemon is now, rather than following the how and why that led to Pokemon to become what it is. The objective they are chasing is how to compete with Pokemon, which is no objective at all. The only way to create a true competitor is to build the equivalent to Pokemon again from first principles.
There are plenty of other good monster catching games (as people have mentioned in the notes) and if anything we could do with more of them - it's an underexplored genre IMO. But Palworld isn't that. Palworld is Pokemon as imagined by a modern gamer who believes Pokemon should have completely altered its gameplay style to match modern trends. It's the sandbox gameplay loop soup idea of what Pokemon should be. It's slop. It's the gaming equivalent of a protest vote.
