Yes, I know it's been ages since I tried to finish this drawing, but I had stopped drawing for a while and, combined with my busy life... yeah, I might be way behind schedule 🫠

Seldom brings Wendy back to town (the only town that doesn't chase Seldom off the second he steps foot in it) and he sees the local doctor about his memory and his back injury (under the read more). They can't figure it out, he gets patched up, and then he's off to the tailor to get some clothes that aren't a big, soggy shirt. They both stick around town for a while, Wendy doesn't know where he came from so he doesn't know where to go back to. Seldom is cagey about what he does for work once Wendy starts thinking of looking for employment. Seldom also doesn't reveal that he can't stay in the town forever and that Wendy can't rely on him, but he keeps making exceptions anyway.

Wendy acclimates to the town, he cuts his hair, he gets to know some local trolls, he finds out he's really good at playing the fiddle, and he starts falling for the cowboy who saved him. The day he confesses to Seldom is the day that Seldom tells him that he sells explosives for a living and that a lot of his job is spent traveling. Wendy says he'll go with him, Seldom says it's too dangerous. So, Wendy gets a job in the glitter mine that the town was built around, seeing as he has few other skills. Seldom tells him that mining is dangerous too, but the operation is run by an old friend of his- Dinah- and she promises to watch out for Wendy.

Well, Seldom sells dynamite to the wrong customers one day and they use their explosives to steal from the very mine that Wendy is working in. They blow up the whole cave to make their escape and many of the miners don't make it out. Seldom comes back to town just a day after the robbery and when he hears the news he heads straight to the mine to go dig Wendy out on the slimmest chance that he survived. When he arrived, Dinah is waiting there. She tells him not to even try, that there's no way anyone survived and if he tries to go in, she might as well just shoot him now. They have a stand off all night until Seldom accepts the truth.

After that, Seldom didn't go back to that town, he never went back to the mine, and he sells to whoever gives him the most money so he can pay for whatever will make him forget. He still wonders about where Wendy came from, if he had family that wondered about his fate, but even if he could find them, how would he explain that his own selfish attachment got their son killed. They knew he was dead even before Seldom found him in that river.
