One of my favorite scenes tbh, it’s subtle encouragement but it really means a lot to Abel, as I’m sure you can tell.

So we actually just reached out to the mods on r/choices and they agreed to create a special flair for our project! One of the member of ILP team will post a chapter discussion thread on the subreddit (similar to other Choices books) where you guys can discuss and theorize, as well as make regular ILW related poste, using the new “Fan Project - It Lives Within” flair.

I hate the smut books as much as the next person but this has just gone ice cold. Why is it suddenly so hard to BALANCE the books 😭

TBH valid take. I loved WTD for the world, the story, and the overall vibes but it does lack in the characters/dynamics development department.

Personally one thing that attracts me to life-or-death situations in fiction is the "Despite the hell, I'll love you til the end of the world" of it all. Romance is just better when y'all are doomed. Dead. Dying. Whatever.

WTD wanted us to be mediator for the hippies and the knights and for that irrelevant little girl so badly that they totally forgot about the LIs and that's where they failed, conisdering 90% of us are here to get down and dirty in the more-than-literal sense.

Surprisingly, I think that the best relationship the writer's developed was Dick Dirk's. He was obivously pissy about literally everything throughout the book, but he and MC were just at odds the whole time. The reasons were weak, but the betrayal made sense.

If I were writing this book, perhaps I'd let the new colonists come to us for aid, focus more on building the relationships simultaneously with the colony, and then have the player lock in an LI who then is kidnapped by the hive. MC's decision to save them would make much more sense seeing as they prioritize them over the rest of the colony, and that would ultimately set off Dirk's betrayal. Our LI lives or dies depending on how well we did with the colony. MC asks if he would have done the same for Brynn, seeing as she's alive, and the Big Decision at the end would be Dirk choosing to kill either Brynn or us. He can't do it, and so we kill both of them. Hm. Maybe in another life Dirk would have made a compelling main character.

PB is so focused on getting us to spend diamonds that they put all the relationship development behind paywalls. The problem is, if they don't get us invested first, then there's less chance we'll spend diamonds for those characters because we don't care enough. They're basically taking a gamble that we'll spend diamonds blindly in the hopes that the diamond scenes are worth it.

I reread some of The Freshman series a while back, and you can clearly see a difference. You get to go on dates with your LI and hang out with friends, chat with them and play games and get to know them. And then the diamond scenes are truly extra content: sex scenes with the LI, special make over sessions with your friends,....

It feels like the book is still worth playing without buying every single diamond scene in the book.

in all seriousness though, I just feel better about my looks when I’m wearing makeup (which is usually just eyeliner and maybe eyeshadow, mascara, and maybe highlighter)

They had put out bad books before but we still kind of read them and had the fandom to discuss how shitty they were - that was the whole point of choices.
