I need to stop taking it personally when smart, creative women choose to have children. Many women actually want them, and I am the anomaly. But man. It sucks to see that reinforced all the time. I'm not saying mothers are disappointing to me, but rather I react to the outward sign that I am not a socially acceptable woman in many ways. That is only one of them. Same when smart, creative women shave their whole bodies, wear faces full of makeup, have traditional het weddings, or parrot talking points that show an uncharacteristic lack of analysis on their part. Like little betrayals! I will never be rewarded by society for being a good woman. Maybe this is good, but it is alienating, too.
