FOG ON BRIGHTER DAYS

Once I feel like my head is correctly on my shoulders I will be working with staff to prepare for our continuation and get better organized all around. I have been given some really promising ideas on how to proceed from here! I’m beyond thankful for those who have volunteered their time to helping me. It turns out that there’s still a lot to learn about running these projects and because I learn from hands-on experience it takes plenty of trial and error.

A big reason I want to keep this project going is because of the community we have created and the endlessly wonderful ideas our players have brought to the table. While things may change about our approach, I really hope this can stay collaborative and be worked on in a satisfying manner. I don’t want to shelve everyone’s hard work by any means.

I apologize for the recent silence here. As previously mentioned I restarted college after a two year break the day after roleplay opened in server (September 1st) and I am still adjusting to my schedule. Things have been… hard beyond that, to say the least, but I am determined to run this rp and I am very thankful for the understanding that has been shown when I’ve expressed my anxieties. Things have slowed down in server as well, however, a lot of fun threads have been started (and completed!) and we’re still going! We’re all adults with lives outside of fantasy cat roleplay so I don’t want to worry too much about slow progress yet.

Starting tomorrow we will enter a (delayed) week 3 of our first moon irp! Weekly updates are supposed to be made at the start of each week in server, but because of my absence I haven’t had the chance to write the next two out until now. So, I am extending our first moon just a little. We will be trying a four week rollover for our timeline, but threads in previous moons/weeks do not have to end during this time; they can go on as long as players want them to! Just remember to record them when they are completed or stopped.

I have recently introduced a character Q&A in server as well that will update, at the most, three times a week. Questions are written primarily by staff and I, but player submissions are allowed and highly encouraged!

Another thing that I wanted to mention is our plot suggestion form, which was made for players in server to suggest, theorize, and help with future story details. We have space in the form for both larger plot and character-associated plot submissions. We have gotten a couple submissions so far and it is something that will always remain open! I want this story to be as collaborative as possible, and I love hearing all the ideas we can add as we go. No matter how active you are or how “big” your character is, everyone has the opportunity to submit something cool.

Lastly, I am officially uploading our waitlist! If you are interested in FOBD while applications are closed, you are welcome to submit a form here! Once submitted, please send an ask to this blog, as I don’t always see notifications with google forms and I don’t want to keep people waiting too long. If you are seen as a fit for our community, you will be added to this doc. I don’t have an estimate on when we will start accepting people from the waitlist, but I will say the earliest will probably be early or mid-October. An announcement will be made when the time comes.

Happy to say things have been going well within the server. We’re adding final touches as staff and players have been busy making and discussing their characters. It was decided that the roleplay will officially be starting next Monday, September 1st. We already have some fantastic plots ready to act out and I’m really proud of the server for planning as much as they have. We will be starting very casual so players have time to test the waters, and goals for arcs one and two are written down. We have a good amount of space for player-suggested stories between these goals, plus a form (that will be posted in the server very soon) for event/plot suggestions to be submitted through.

Besides that, I have been working on a large timeline for the roleplay with contributions from players. It will be linked here and on the website once it is fully updated for the start. We are also planning to add encounters (including predators, prey, and herb collecting) for the ttrpg side of things, thread starters/prompts, and a daily(?) character questionnaire! It’s all very exciting.

For those curious about the waitlist— I will be adding a link to our current queue and its respective form on here sometime after the roleplay starts. As mentioned previously, everyone who wasn’t invited this round was added. I cannot give an estimate on how long the wait will be, as we have a lot of players and many more characters already, but I will do my best to update when we have a better feel for what’s going on.

I am so happy with everyone who applied. There were some tough decisions to make— even then we ended up with 19 new players! 23 people auditioned in total. This leaves us with a server of 30 active players.

Hi! This will be something that is continuously developed by players over time. As of the start of the roleplay, the TwilightWhims and JaggedCrags occasionally rely on each other for resources and information but don’t really have a lot of interaction otherwise. They can be invited to each other’s holidays and celebrations, though the clowders and their preferences on it change every year.

The JCs are sometimes stereotyped to be rugged and a bit edgy due to their circumstances and isolation, but they are known and respected for their creativity and resilience. The TWs are sometimes stereotyped to be decadent and naive, but are also respected for their hospitality, resources, and creativity.

For high ranks, I believe we don’t have any submissions yet for the TwilightWhim Seer— they are a cat in the clowders apprenticed to the Oracle, representing their group’s spirituality and doing readings when the Oracle isn’t there to provide. They are the ones that would be receiving any potential omens/prophecies. Other than that, every high rank has at least one application, which is awesome.

We are currently at 21 applications total, 16 of which have been accepted into the server already. We got a burst of them last night and definitely expect more. Everything is looking fantastic!

With that being said, I may have to put some people on a waitlist, which is something I really don’t want to do but I need to leave the server accessible to the staff team and me. I did not expect as much attention as this has gotten, which makes me very happy don’t get me wrong, but players each have 9 character slots and we have 36 members right now. That’s a lot of potential cats! I’m hesitant to change the limit because people have already made extra characters. I will be thinking about this today and tomorrow morning before I make final decisions.
