This is "Dude Where's My Car?" by on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.
The making of this final project was a long process. I dissected the work into three parts: Creating the beat, Recording the song, and compiling the video. All of which was followed by extensive editing on audacity and premiere pro. I think this project turned out very well, although there are some things that i wish i could have done differently. First of all i would have liked to actually have used recording equipment for this project instead of using my iphone headphone mic. The quality of the lyrics would have been substantially better if i had real equipment. Second of all i wish i would have used the cameras from the All Media club, instead i used an iphone; the quality is still good it is just a little more time consuming to use. In conclusion i am happy with my final product and am excited to share it with the class.
Harsh Patel - Course Reflection
My overall appreciation for music in multimodal projects has increased throughout this course. I didn’t really notice the music in all of the different types of videos, games, etc. before this course because I just expected these things to have music. I loved listening to music and just kind of expected it to be in most videos, and games that I watched without realizing that it was completely changing the way I felt when watching those things. I didn’t realize that the music was actually impacting the way I viewed and experienced the project. Everything about the music affects the way you feel when interacting with a song, video, game, and much more. Things such as the tempo, the instruments used, the volume of the track, and much change your experience of the project. All of these things help to give a message that the music gives you and changes your emotions to fit the project. Finding synch points within the music and video is also important to make the video seem more cohesive and put together professionally. It is also important to iterate on your work and see what can be improved upon to better help send the message you want to.
I used these ideas when constructing my final project. I took a video of a story and created my own music track to that story. The music was up beat and built up throughout the course of the video until the climax. I used music with high tempos that were loud to create suspense and make the video more thrilling. I also used synch points so that the project looked better put together and flowed more cohesively. I added sound effects of the swishing hoop, dribbling, and the ball hitting the backboard or the rim tog I've it a more realistic feel. I’m very new to filming so it took me a very long time to film this project, I took over a 100 clips to make sure I had enough footage to make the story that I wanted. I also had to then take all that footage and find the ones that were good to use in my project which also took very long because I’m not used to it. I think the song is good because it helps to build up suspense and give a feeling of an up-tempo video. However, I did have a problem with the wind in my shots because it would sometimes take over and be very loud. Also, it was tough to get my friends to act the exact way I wanted them to because I wanted it to be a serious film but it was obviously funny to perform those acts so they couldn’t help but smirking or laughing at certain points. It was also hard for me to make the music because I’m not very good with creating my own beats and have never done it before this class. But, I think it came out good. I think that I could’ve made it so that there was more of a structure to the song with a clear cut chorus and verses. Music is very important in our lives and can therefore be used in projects to help completely change the way that the project is perceived. Overall, I am very pleased with my final project and know that I definitley could not have created it before I took this class. The class has taught me a lot. Thank you Professor Lindsay for a great semester!

The music was suppose to seem relaxed throughout the video because it didn't give any intense feelings at all. I added changes by Tupac at the end when the interviewees started talking about memories and what they'll miss about the dorms. I thought using interview's with people could help the viewer see the emotions better. I also asked questions that would help stir some emotions. When we worked on a  short documentary, I liked that we did interviews to talk about the subject. I didn't like giving long intros or changing the mood.  I used music that had a message within as well. I used walking on a dream which talks about living in dream, and changes which talks about how everything is changing around you. I made the music low enough to keep it from distracting the viewer from what the person was saying, but still present. I wanted the interviews to intersect with footage of a few of the experiences freshman year to help break up the video, and give visuals on some of the experiences a freshman might have. In my other projects, I learned to understand the synchronicity of music and video as well as the synchronicity of music itself. It is important for these things to match up with each other for them to be more entertaining. In film, I learned to depict emotions through the different varieties one can shoot a video through the different shots and various genres. Most importantly I learned to understand some of the emotions that are depicted in video, music, broadcast and video games and how to emphasize them to a greater extent.
Feedback part 2
 1.    Eminem remix revised- I think the song has a great beat and good rhythm. It also gives a good variety of sounds, but it sometimes sounds a little off beat.
2.    Narrative video by Harsh- I think the song you added is a good emotional matchup the video, but I think you could have kept that same song going throughout the whole dream.
3.    Narrative video by Jin yoo- I like the music you added to the video. It gets more intense as the film goes on. I think you could have transitioned these songs a little better however.
4.    Narrative video by David- I like the songs you added to various scenes, but I do not think the song that plays in background when the books on closing in on the main character.
5.    Lab 12 by david- I think the video could have had more sound scoring at the beginning. I think you could have added your own score to the mix as well.
6.    LAB 12 BY HARSH- I THINK the score had a great build up and you did a good job not adding sound when the main character was shot, because it makes a dramatic effect.
7.    Lab 12 by Jin Yoo- I like the music you added because it is lightly suspenseful at the beginning then it gets deeper which gives a build up. I also like the suspenseful hard drop at the climax of the video.
8.    Video game score by harsh- The sushi score is very appropriate to the type of game it is. The transitions are smooth when the score changes and ends.
9.    Scratch score by Jin Yoo- The transitions between the score and the end of the score are smooth. The score matches the emotion for this type of game.
10. Our Short film- We could have done a better job getting the shot we wanted. I think giving some close up shots would make the video more intense. I also think we could have added more sound effects.
Harsh Patel Reflections
Narrative Video – I think we did a good job overall as a group in creating this short film.  I think the sound cold have been lowered a little so it wasn’t really loud. We did a good job matching the sounds to the emotions that we were trying to convey in the video. Adding music in certain points helped to intensify the feelings of the scene.
Enclosed James - I like the sounds you used, they matched the feeling of the video. I also liked the synch points you created, starting sounds when scenes switched. I think you should have added music when you were opening up the books because now that part doesn’t make much sense.
Enclosed Jin - You used very unorthodox music for this film. I think that the music didn’t really match the emotion of the video and confused the viewer. I think you could’ve used music that was fit the feeling of the video more. I also think you did a good job at synch points but there are some spots that you could’ve improved on that as well.
Enclosed David - I like the music you used. The song in the beginning gave a mysterious feeling and the song when the bookcases were closing was very intense. You did a good job with sync points and making the music come in at crucial points in the video.
Filmscore David – I liked the music you used because it made humorous video even funnier. I think you did a good job lining up music with important points. But, I think you could’ve made a greater impact by adding more music like when the guy faces his paint or shoots the other guy.
Filmscore Lab11Finished – I liked the music you used for the video because it matched the film.  The tones you selected help intensify the feelings when watching the film, mysteriousness in the first two tracks and dramatic in the last one.
Filmscore Baugh basement with original score – I like the deep and dark tones used because they make the video suspenseful. I also like the low drum and the chiming keys because it adds to this feeling. The vibrating adds on to it even more. The scene does a good job at building up tension and suspense.
Loop James - The loop was created perfectly. it can be played over and over without any hitch. I think that you could’ve placed the “hey, whats up” somewhere else in the loop though that would make more sense for the loop.
Podcast James - I like that you introduced a guest to the podcast to get more views on this subject. I think the music you used worked really well in the podcast. The content of the podcast was hilarious. Kept me interested!
Podcast David - I love the intro it made me want to continue listening and gave me a good laugh. Also I like the topic you chose because everyone can relate to music so this podcast can be meaningful to everyone. I think you should incorporate more music into it but other wise it was really enjoyable to listen to.

Harsh Patel - Video Game Score
Harsh Patel - Videogame Score
My video game score is similar to traditional ones because I wanted to set the tone of the game. I wanted to change the way people felt when playing the game by adding in sound to help guide peoples feelings and reactions toward the game. The game fits the score because i added calm and simple music in the beginning to make the game joyful but put in intense music when the levels got more difficult. I also added a pop sound when the sushi “died” and cheers at the end when the game was won to let the user know what was going on by sound. The game is supposed to be relaxed and playful but get a little more intense once the levels get more difficult at level 6. I didn’t make the loops mesh in to the other because it depended on the player. The loop changes once the player reaches level 6 so the first loop would be at different points of the loop depending on how fast the user plays. So I just added a new loop that was much more uptempo to increase adrenaline.Â

Reflection:
The route i took for this scoring project was to create an emotional response from the audience. In the video One friend is shown killing another friend over.... Oreos. Now, this may not seem very sad, in fact its goofy. So what i wanted to accomplish was make this piece emotional. The first song i chose was by the Crest “Kill em”. After the friend sees the text that his oreos were gone, the screen goes black, and the song plays. The audience is now shocked by the foreshadow that this friend intends on killing his pal. The second score comes right after the shooting, a very emotional song called Hide and Seek by Imogen. This song has been linked to many sad videos, and as the friend lays on the floor dead the song continues to roll on, creating a sense of sadness in the viewers mind.
David Narrative w/ Sound Reflection - Lab 9
The video turned out better than what I expected when we wrote it out on a storyboard. The different shots all were fluid along the arc of the story line. There were two additions i added in this lab. I added the song In the Air tonight by Phil Collins when Wilson is first seen in the dream state, i wanted the audience to experience the dream like state from the slow drums of the song. I also added the song Coming Undone by Korn while the shelves are closing in because I wanted to convey to the audience that wilson was afraid. The loud metal music conveyed this well.
