"He picked up this Elmore James guitar thing which really knocked me out when I first heard him play it, because I'd never heard anyone play it live before – I'd only heard it on records. And it was really good."
- Mick Jagger on Brian Jones
Happy birthday to Mick Jagger! Wishing him more joyful years. I always appreciate how he managed to keep the band longer 🎂❤️
Today marks the passing of the founder of The Rolling Stones, Brian Jones.
Even living a short life, we remember him as part of the founding sound of the band and his great music abilities. There will be no stones without Jones.
Rest in peace Brian Jones. (1942 - 1969) 🕊️

"I picked him up with his girlfriend, Suki Potier, and noticed that yet again Brian had become involved with a woman who was the mirror image of himself. Women seemed compelled to look like Brian; it was as though they were worried that he was more beautiful than they. They´d all cut their hair into long fringes, like his, and they would wear Moroccan clothes borrowed from his wardrobe. Brian had once come out with some garbled theory to me about how he believed most beautiful women were narcissistic and they dug making love to him because it was as close as they could get to making love to themselves. The theory had sounded faintly ludicrous, but I had been unable to deny the extraordinary sway Brian held over women. He once told me he had slept with sixty in a particularly energetic month, and I´m certain he was telling the truth."

"For Brian, I think his friendship with Tara was a safe haven with all that was going on in the studio, with all that antagonism. It was difficult because Brian was very sensitive and I think he recognised that Tara was sensitive, too. Brian didn't have many friendships. It was unusual that he let someone so close. In the end, he didn't have any friends at all, except people who worked for him or people who used him to procure drugs and girls. But at that time he was lucky enough to have Tara."
- Anita Pallenberg on Brian and Tara's friendship
"Anita was a great inspiration to him and if one should not live and love dangerously then it would be better not to live at all."
- Stash Klossowski de Rola on Anita Pallenberg being an inspiration to Brian
Happy heavenly birthday to Anita Pallenberg! ❤️🎂

"He had the face that beamed out. When he smiled, everything was great, the sun was shining."
- Shirley Arnold on Brian Jones
I'd like to dedicate this to the women who were part of Brian's life. As we know some of them had good and bad moments with him. Let's appreciate them for their love and strength. They are so much more than a girlfriend, they are also successful in their own right and some are wonderful mothers.
Happy international women's day!
