Is that really a fact, or just a rumor? Anybody got any solid information?

I miss "William Holden Apprecation" so much, my Tumblr world has become poorer.

Bonne fête nationale !
“Bill is larger than life. I’m a fan of his, and I’d hate to see him in anything but a large, important role. He couldn’t play an ordinary sort; he has an heroic quality.”
“When we worked together in the 50’s, I was rather new to films, and the prospect of working with Humphrey Bogart was frightening; when we met, he didn’t take very well to a newcomer. But Bill was my ally and my tutor, and so handsome and witty (his hair was dyed blond)…”
“We worked together in the early 60’s, and by then we felt like old friends. He had matured, as I had, and he was a perfect leading man and friend.”

Happy 4th of July, America!
When I visited the battle-weary men in Korea, I decided not to wear GI fatigues which had been in vogue for entertainers at the front. I had an idea - born, I suppose, of what I considered my own knowledge of what America means - that the boys would get more of a feeling of identity with home if I wore some sports coats, if I walked around dressed in the civvies celebrated in the conversations and dreams of homesick GI’s. And I think I was right.
GI’s would come up to me and shout, “Hey, what did your sport coat cost? Man, is that sharp!” Or they’d ask about the sport shirt, and inspect my attire as a symbol of the kind of life that was waiting for their return.
“I can’t wait to get back to the States to get one of them,” they’d tell me.
For me, that experience caught some of the meaning of America.
