Hello there! You can call me Ray or Rayana if it’s easier. I may have lost sight which questions, but I do remember getting some questions about Yama? No worries tho, it’s cool! And thank you for waiting too, these ended up taking a couple of days to reply to. :D

What I like about them

That under all the yelling and all that apparently cold and insensitive attitude (most especifically towards Taichi but other people too), Yamato does care very deeply about people. It’s literally that his harsh approach comes, funny enough, from that observant and caring personally, that even in universe only seem to be understood and caught by those who truly are close to him.

It’s how he displays that caring. It makes me groan in frustration at the same time it amuses me to no end! Yamato is hella entertaining to watch as a character lol.

What I dislike about them

YAMATO IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE AT EXPRESSING HIMSELF. It does amuse me alright, but IT TOOK ME YEARS TO UNDERSTAND HIM Oh my god.

Don’t get me wrong, in 02 and tri Yamato does grow up to admit more of that sensive side of him, he no longer willingly pushes people away the way he did in the first season. Yamato DOES go after those he cares about (at last!), but what happens when he does? It’s so cringy at times, someone please save this kid!

When he first meets Daisuke, he almost punches him. When Meiko apologizes for missing classes and worrying the group, he doesn’t beat around the bush and tells her to never do it again. When Taichi clearly has issues he goes ahead and practically calls him a coward, aw man I just… Sometimes I wonder why he’s one of my favourites. Actually scratch that, no, I know. I’ve said it above. Lol

Favourite moment

Every single one of his antics with Taichi lol. 

Such as when Yamato challenges him to fight but ends up admiting after the homeostasis explanation about the origin of the Chosen Children that he doesn’t necessarily think Taichi is wrong. Episode 51 too, it’s when Yamato returns the group to fight Piemon and finds Taichi on the floor and finally opens up to him.

When Yamato punches Taichi in 02 and tells him to pull himself together lol. Then there’s that blush in that tri OVA he tells Taichi perhaps having more Ultimate digimon in the team will allow him to take it easy. Last but not least, when he picks up the goggles of the floor. You get the picture. XD

Least favourite moment

There aren’t many. Perhaps when he yells at poor Jou in the Digitamamon episode, although this is hardly his fault. It just was so messed up! lol

A situation with this character that I want to see explored more

I do have an obsession with him really caring about Taichi, so I suppose I can never get enough of that.

An interesting AU for this character

Edo Period AU! Because I really enjoy picturing Yamato in traditional Japanese clothing.

A crossover

THROW HIM IN THE STEINS GATE UNIVERSE. Let Yamato be the Christina Taichi has to rescue as he keeps watching Yamato dying over and over again in every itineration of the future he visits! >:D

Or some kind of Psycho-Pass AU, why not. I’ve had both scenarios in my mind for a while now lol.

An assortment of headcanons!

- In spite having an half-French mother Yamato doesn’t actually speak any of the language himself or grew on any western influence related to his family. He had a typical Japanese upbringing, so his personality and quirks are entirely to his merit (lol).

- Yamato can be neurotic about getting things right in music, tries his best, and even manages to create a good song sometimes, but he’s aware he isn’t particularly brilliant at it. He’s vaguely aware most people at school only seem to like his stuff for no reason other than thinking bands are cool. 

- Because of the above, Yamato only actually feels validated when even Taichi feels compelled to throw him some kind of compliment. Both Gabumon and Takeru have the decency of teasing of him so he doesn’t get too smug (lol).

- If Taichi were a girl, Yamato would have seriously proposed and perhaps even marry him.
