Braxton and his siblings grew up in a chaotic and unhealthy household. Their parents were very emotionally and physically abusive people but they weren't always like that. It started when Braxton was very young, around 5 years old, when their dad was caught stealing money from the company he managed and getting fired and blacklisted as a result. Forcing their mom to find any job she could on short notice and instead of looking for another job their dad stayed home and started drinking. Eventually their parents slowly stopped performing their parental duties causing Cyrus to step up and take care of Braxton and their sister.
The abuse wasn't a gradual build up but happened over night. It was as if their parents just snapped and would often abuse Braxton and his sister since they were the ones home more often than Cyrus was. Cyrus would step in and protect them when he could but more often he was using his mutation to heal his younger siblings so they wouldn't be in pain.
Cyrus tried often to reach out to any trusted adult that he thought could help them but no one ever stepped up or believed him due to his delinquent behavior and lack of attendance in school. Cyrus worked hard until he was 18 and old enough to get them all out of the household and continuing working to provide for Braxton and their sister.
