Lens flares commonly perceived as mistake in film but recently used to make synthetic things appear realistic. Contrasting real world lighting accidents with computer generated imagery allows films to become more immersive. However the oversaturation of lens flares nulls their effect and is becoming slightly taboo in some forms, mostly big title films like Star Wars or some photorealistic video games.
A .gif to demonstrate current work in progress for an interactive webpage to used as an artwork or to hold art work virtually online.
This website is hosted by Tumblr and I have recoded the entire page to show only as white, with a black square present which a user can click and drag to move around the page.
Second image is later version with more images and text added
Netart For Thought Digital image 2016, 1600x1600 pixels QR code which displays text by artist when scanned. Artwork exists as elaborate black and white pattern and also as data which can be accessed through certain know-how of technology.
I was originally drawn in to QR codes by their uselessness. A re-imagined and more promising form of barcode capable of holding much more information, but never taking off into the mainstream.Â
With this itâs almost as though technology moved too fast and missed the QR codes, so I created a new QR code, much larger than the usual codes you see around which often reveal short messages or link a device to a webpage. Within this code, a pattern is generated encoding a paragraph, a critique of art in a sense but not too serious, more an inquisitive tone is set.Â
A knowing user can acquire the tools within minutes on a portable device to scan and de-code this image to reveal data which otherwise would be undetectable.
Transcendental Meditation Installation, 2016 (Tree, fire blanket, 25 double sided inkjet A4 copies of Bill Gates).
156 Arundel Street, Polymath Collective - Something is wrong
Following from a cynical attitude between the art world and my experience, I created this piece to convey tones set from Samuel Beckettâs play, Waiting for Godot. I used the imagery of the play to create imagery within a sculpture and left the piece to be purposefully ambiguous, giving no explanation when asked as to hear what others thought it meant. The play follows two tramps waiting for a friend, Godot, whom never arrives but seems to convey a sense of higher hope. As with the play, it toyed with references to politics and religion amongst other things but had no original purpose other than to see what critics and reviews thought it had meant. With this, I was able to use imagery which interested me and perform a pseudo-critique of contemporary art. Not a critique in an anti-artworld sense, but a critique in the critique of art. A critique in the way art is interpreted and meaning is always sought; and not many can leave an artwork feeling they appreciate it until they understand it, or think they do.
10 Banners (Installation View) 2016, Minecraft World
In-game, Banners can be âcraftedâ as blank 1x2 vertical decorative pieces and later crafted with various materials and colour dyes in game to create layers of effects applied stage by stage, by combining colours and pattern, it is possible to create several various abstract pieces in the virtual space.
Using a videogames in-game âartâ making system which relies on material input to generate pattern over several layers, each banner is a result of an unknowing and knowing in creating a series of virtual objects arranged in a 3D cubic space to parody and look cynically at contemporary art and how it is displayed.
Iâm also interested in how the realness of virtual spaces come into play and the unique experience a person has with encountering things digitally. Creating a realistic space within the confines of this massively popular video game with audiences from 3 - 80 years and use levels from entertainment to education, I had attempted to make a synthetic space with synthetic art which held no substance both physically and contextually.

Desktop Party
Video, 2016 (Run time: 5:03 mins)
Interested in the use of Vaporwave aesthetics, with empty corporate and computer related imagery along with imagery which represents popular imagery spread on blogging websites like Tumblr which create new and short-lived subcultures such as Vaporwave.
Playing within a desktop, the orbs spin and music plays, dull, monotonous and seemingly ârandomâ, or rather, without purpose. Serving no use and somewhat having no actual message to convey, a viewer finds their viewing experience to be cumbersome or nullified.Â
Content is spewed up in its millions of Terabytes of data and the vastness of content online can never be all viewed by a single person. This video attempts to exist on YouTube as non-content and a parody of all current content. It carries a parody tone through its use of cynical subculture references and stresses a lack of utility.

This experiment has ended. Thanks for being part of it!
Mobile company Verizon create mod for video game Minecraft where real world video calls could be made to phones and messaging apps via the video game interface of a giant phone with usable buttons. Web exploration was also possible, entering URL would pixelate the webpage into Minecraft blocks and at a resolution which fitted the screen.
