Missed Connections

âOh no, definitely not running the center yet. Hopefully someday, though.â Jade laughed. âI still enjoy it just as much as ever though, and enjoy the kids even more. Derek and Emmelineâs kids still come sometimes, especially with whatâs been going on recently. Theyâre still my favorite kids that I see at the center,â She said, and it was certainly true. They were very cute children, and it only made her want some of her own even more - even if watching their parents relationship deteriorate had shown her just how hard it could be. âEven big lawyers can be late sometimes, I guess,â she teased, happy to know that life was apparently working out so well for him, and going just as he had wanted it to. âAll Iâll be doing is trying to figure out what song to use next for a dance routine for the kiddos, so essentially no, Iâm not doing anything. At least nothing that would be more interesting than getting a chance to catch up and see what youâve been up to,â she grinned, hoping this meant that maybe, just maybe, they could have a second chance to try and make things work again, this time without losing contact with one another
Brandon nodded along a solemn look on his face. Heâd forgotten for a second that they had had friends in common, especially the two mentioned. âThatâs good. Iâm sure those kids need it right now.â He knew things were hard over there and it made him feel better to know that Jade was there for them. He tried to be himself whenever he and Derek hung out. Laughing Brandon nodded his head. âIt could be worse, I could be on my way to court, then that would be bad. The judge might have a warrant out for me.â He kept his eyes trained on her hoping for her answer to be one in his favor. His smile lit up from ear to ear as he looked at her and nodded. âGreat.â He took out his phone, scrolling through to find her contact, and pulling it up, showing her his screen. âIs this still you?â He cocked an eyebrow, waiting to hear from her and smiling. âWe could maybe grab dinner or something?â He hoped his tone wasnât too hopeful, but seeing her again, he wanted to see her later, he wanted her to say yes. He was wondering why he hadnât talked to her again after that first date. Wondering how it hadnât gotten further, but glad to run into her now. âIâm hoping for a yes here.â He spoke, turning on the charm.
