         With her lips still curved into a smile, JJ found herself nodding at his words. “Well, what are we still waiting for then? Operation Pumkinspice Latte is a go!”

❀✿  No  footsteps  are  perceived  ,  but  they  could  be  muffled .  She  slowly  steps  back  until  she  is  in  a  corner .  The  hints  of  shadow  conceal  most  of  her  form .  Instead  of  talking  ,  she  softly  whimpers  into  the  phone  as  indication  she  is  listening  to  him .  Eventually  she  hears  footsteps  and  her  heart  races .  When  she  finally  hears  a  voice  ,  her  body  jolts  and  her  fingers  curl  tighter  around  the  weapon .  Her  guard  only  falters  when  she  realizes  Spencer .  She  softly  sighs  and  tries  to  regain  her  composure .  Her  instinct  says  to  hug  him  but  she  knows  now  is  not  the  time .

“  In  the  direction  of  the  bathroom .  Sounded  like  glass  shattering .  The  window  ,  someone  could  squeeze  through  it .  ”

She  slowly  extends  her  arm  and  her  fingers  gently  grip  his  sleeve .  She  felt  awful  dragging  him  into  this  ,  but  was  grateful  for  the  security .  her  blue  hues  glance  downwards  and  she  lets  go  after  a  moment .

“  Please  ,  be  careful .  I  -  I  can  be  right  behind  you .  ”  

he grips her shoulder before pulling his weapon from his side, moving in the direction she’d spoken of. “i’ll go check. you’ve not heard anything since?” he asks smoothly, looking around the room, and decides to hook her arm through his, using one hand to keep the gun poised ahead of him. he slowly sulks to the room, letting go of her arm he enters the room to see no one around. “maeve, there’s no one in here.” he sighs, tucking his pistol away looking around the room. he steps on the glass from the widow, seeing a small hole in the glass. he looks to the ground to see a envelope below him, taking a step off of it to pick it up. 

“Fine. Lemme see your keycard, because that had way too much detail for it to be the truth.” She held out her hand expectantly, fingers wriggling to break the tension. Generally speaking, she didn’t care if she was lied to. What she did care about was being lied to badly. It was like, damn make an effort, or something. And if she could catch you, it wasn’t enough effort. “And yeah, you could. I live nearby. It ain’t difficult.” Reel it in, no one needs to hear the twang at work.
