It had been almost three and a half years since heād had his weekend fling with Lisa Braeden. After the attack on 9/11, Dean had felt a call to enlist and help out the country, plus the familial pressure from his father who had been in the Marines. He enlisted in the Army, and two weeks before he shipped out, he met Lisa at a bar and they spent the weekend in her apartment.
It was 2004 and he had gotten one of his buddies in intelligence to use his skills and track her down. Heād come up with an address, sheād moved out of Cicero and there wasnāt a phone number or anything else he could readily find. So Dean decided to write her a letter. It was cheesy and maybe a bit of a long shot - who knew what she was doing now, she could be married for all he knew.

Dear Lisa,
I donāt know when this will get to you, the post here is pretty slow to get out, and I know we havenāt spoken in years but Iāve been thinking about you. Itās lonely out here, and hot and my weekend with you was literally the last time I got laid. If you donāt want to talk to me, I get it, and I donāt expect a reply to this if youāve moved on with your life. Anyway, I guess thatās it. We had fun together.

āIāll be okayā¦Iāll work this, I promise.ā He told her with a small nod.
She nods, kissing him tenderly, āI know. Youāre gonna do amazingā¦ā
āWith what? The kid or not drinking?ā He sighed softly
āBoth⦠but weāll deal with the drinking firstā¦ā she smiles sadly.
āNo, this baby, I wasnāt here last time. Iām focusing on youā
āIf that helps you stay sober then thatās good...ā she says softly, moving his hand hesitantly to her stomach, āIām 7 weeks... I donāt know exactly when that wouldāve been... do you remember? It wasnāt a make up sex night was it?ā
