oc yap!! tw for grooming, sh, underaged use of substances and continued underage sexual acts/abuse (no crazy detail but like. just incase)
so we all no my beautiful amazing oc david right?
^ here are some drawings of him!!
the story i primarily write david in takes place in 2010, where david is 21. but alot of stuff happened to him before that, making him the way he is (he was also predisposed to alot of issues but we can get into that later).
the first set of issues that comes up in davids life is kinda straight out the gate- his mom isnât stable enough in any regard to have a baby, and his dad and her have already agreed that they are not staying together by the time he is born. his dad has a house and his mother lives in assisted living under disability pay and a few other supports, so for the first part if his life he has joint custody, primarily staying with his mom for maternity reasons and stuff.
as stated though, his mom is unstable both mentally and physically so she is not always able to take care of him while he is with her, leaving David to be very self sufficient in a few very specific regards. when david is around nine custody switches up a little with his mom being deemed unfit to hold main custody, and he begins living full time with his dad, and only gets to visit his mom. his dad has a new family at this point, and though he doesnât abandon david, he doesnât offer any support that a father should. basically only making sure he is physically well, no quality time or anything.
aswell as this, due to his instability mentality and in his home life he has lots of issues at school and doesnât often get the accommodations he needs.
at this point david is a little unruly because of his general personality, mixed with what is probably some neurodivergence, and gets frustrated with boredom, causing problems for his dad. he forms a stronger relationship with his mom now that he realizes his father doesnât have any interest in him, and his mother encourages him to âfight for what is hisâ, which results in several incidents such as david breaking things, fighting his step siblings, and getting himself dangerous situations where his dad has to rescue him.
in davids roughly ten to eleven year old mind, this plan should result in his dad paying more attention to him, as negative attention is still attention. his father however, is dedicated to the bare minimum and only shows what is absolutely necessary. davids plan has failed.
around twelve he starts getting into drugs, small things like cigarettes he bums off of people. there is a gas station parking lot he finds out about where at night people smoke and talk together. david is desperate for connection so he starts sneaking out with a few bucks stolen from his parents to by snacks and later smokes off people outside.
he knows peoples, names there, they know he is, it feels good. there is syd and anchor and some other weird people, this older guy called sam who calls him âlittle champâ, and tells him heâs too young to smoke but gives him cigarettes anyway. later on, he meets a woman named lyndsey there. sheâs alone, and she has this big eyes and she smiles at david, beckoning him closer.
(here is my one shitty drawing of lyndsey)
they talk for a long time and she offers to buy him whatever he wants from the convenience store, including his own entire pack of cigarettes. david is overjoyed. lyndsey is probably the nicest person he has ever interacted with. she is funny, weird in a cool way, and she is incredibly open about everything. david feels like he doesnât gave to hide anything from her.
over the span of weeks david and lyndsey get closer. she is still an adult and about 16 years older than him but it doesnât feel like that to him. they feel like peers. he meets her roommate and friend johnny, and they spend most nights together, migrating from the parking lot to Lyndseyâs actual house. she gets him whatever he wants, as long as he comes back, and she and johnny feel like the only people in the world that matter.
(here is johnny, again in my very shitty style)
days with davids dad and family feel fake, they dont matter at all. david doesnât try to get his dadâs attention anymore, sleeps in late, skips the first part of school most days, and becomes a ghost in the house he lives in. when nine pm rolls around he climbs out his window, onto the overhang and jumps the roughly six foot drop(not great for his legs), busses to the parking lot where lyndsey and johnny would pick him up and drive back to their place.
it was fun. the three of them would play videogames or tell stories or get drunk or all three. there was always something new that lyndsey was doing. she was really the only person that mattered, to david atleast. when she told him she had a crush on him davids everything kinda went sideways. he really, realllyyy like lyndsey, but she was way older than him, and he knew that wasnât supposed to happen. he also knew that he did alot if things he wasnât supposed to, they were outcasts! thats what you do when youâre an outcast, you donât conform.
so david agrees to date lyndsey and everything is fine. its normal dating stuff. they still hang out and lyndsey still gets him stuff and he still busses out almost every night to see them but now some different things also happen, which isnât all bad. david had never really kissed anyone besides lyndsey but he imagined she was a pretty good kisser. it felt weird and wrong but that was what being a rebel was.
things got serious pretty quickly, but david didnât really mind, because it was all for her. he still got to hang out and play videogames and get drunk, just sometimes now when he was drunk lydsey would do things to him that he didnât really understand. it felt okay though, it wasnât bad. he was a rebel.
lyndsey gets him a dog. his name is bronze. fitting, as he is this weird copper bronze color. david likes bronze so much that he thinks he might actually die. he tries his best to help take care if bronze though he doesnât have a job. lydsey and johnny say they can take care of him, as the dog lives at their house, but david can tell they need some help. he does his best in pickpocketing and stealing from his dad, but he doesnât feel like its enough. heâs too young to get a job technically, but while he talks about it johnny brings up that if he really wants to help out that he knows a guy who pays alot for random favours. nothing crazy, just favours.
david skips school the next day and busses to the address that johnny gave him. its definitely a house and not a business, but that makes sense for what heâs been told. he gets let inside, and into the back yard. there isnât anybody else there except for the man who let him in, who told David to call him âdadâ. this is not his dad. heâs doing garden work, picking out weeds and planting flowers.
its hot out and he is really confused but he keeps working, âdadâ said an hour. david can hear shudder clicks from a camera, but he is trying not to pay attention. an hour goes by of this man taking pictures of him sweaty and gross feeling and David is done. âdad leads him back into the house, giving david about two whole seconds before grabbing him by the waist, lifting the hem of his shirt and burning him with a lighter, putting his hand around davidâs mouth when he goes to cry out. he turns david around, tells David heâs a good boy, and hands him three hundred dollars.
depending on when you see âdadâ he will want different things, so you never really know what is gonna happen, but as long as you donât talk about it he gives you a varying amount of cash somewhere in the triple digits. this works for David because he probably couldnât get a normal job even if he was old enough, so now he was kinda set.
gong to lyndseyâs after seeing âdadâ was weird because it felt almost the same. less awkward but now being with Lyndsey and johnny felt like an in, not friends. all the same things happened most of the time, he gave money to the two of them to take care of bronze, and they hung out, and they watched movies, this was fine. David stole movies from thrift stores and stuff because they had less security, so it was easy.
ILL DO A SECOND PART LATER IM SLEEPY
