Ace AIR: Boys Forever
Program: 40 Years / 40 Nights Location: Ace Hotel London Date of Stay: 10/23/16 Artist: Patrick Doyle and Mark Amura (as Boys Forever)
While not-sleeping at Ace Hotel London, Patrick and Mark got busy making a hand sewn collage book, hand screen printed and marbled badges, and screen printed acrylic and watercolour works, which we’ve got detail shots of here.
Patrick Doyle is a photographer and multi-instrumentalist, working in various cities and recording music under the name Boys Forever, as well as making work in collaboration with Mark Amura under the same name. Their work often involves traditional marbling and screen printing, combined to produce new techniques, most recently utilised in a limited run of t-shirts and sweatshirts for House of Voltaire.
An Artists in Residence program sprang up at our New York property in 2014 and this year, we’re taking the concept on tour with our friends at Printed Matter, Inc. 40 Years / 40 Nights celebrates the institution’s 40th year by showcasing a new crop of 40 artists from around the world across 2016.
Printed Matter, Inc. is an independent 501©(3) non-profit organization founded in 1976 by artists and art workers with the mission to foster the appreciation, dissemination, and understanding of artists’ books and other artists’ publications.
