it's still insanely funny to me that oceangate was named that. like i think if you call your controversial company something that already sounds like the name of a major scandal you're basically asking for it

Wild how people can openly say "a show/book/movie etc including a character from a specific country or mentioning that county at all is propaganda" and "media shouldn't be normalizing specific nationalities" and their posts will get thousands of notes agreeing as if that isn't some of the most blatant and hateful xenophobia imaginable.

it is of course easier to performatively ban children from social media than to do things like "actually challenge and regulate the abusive tactics tech companies use to extract people's data and money via social media" but if we did the second thing we wouldn't have any excuse to force people to use digital ID :(

one thing i wanna say though is data centers being built in rural areas is environmental racism + classism so when i see ppl bitching about locals bitching about data centers im like oh it’s literally because it’s not your backyard being demolished and your air not being polluted and your waterways not being ran dry and your soundscapes not being raised to unhealthy decibels ….
