“You’re such a downer Peter –” Lucas lets out a chuckle, leaning up against the door frame. Peter was like him, rich and gay. Whether he’d admit that last part or not was a different story. “We’d be a total power couple – you’re just too blind to see it –”

Did it matter? Being this vulnerable in this empty house? Peter’s parents come home once every six months and they won’t be back for another two months at least and– the Bowers gang has long since disbanded. The thought made him sick to his stomach. 

Fingers run through Max’s hair, lost in thought, lost in memories perhaps best left forgotten. 

Max leaned into the affection, idly taking Peter’s other hand and twining their fingers together.  Lifting their joined hands, he pressed a kiss to his fingers gently.  “Penny for your thoughts?”  He asked softly.  Max could practically hear the thoughts churning away in the other boy’s head.

All his attention is on the car, admiring it with a smile. “She’s pretty.” Restored completely and Peter can tell that whoever drove it before at least attempted to keep the inside of it cleaned– besides the gentle initials carved into the dash board. Peter doesn’t ask about that. “Camaro right?”

Talking about the car too much at length tended to bring up a pain in his chest that Max didn’t like.  As public as the car he drove was, it felt still like a very private thing.  It was a piece of his brother that he was able to keep with him.  The emotion didn’t show on his face all the same, that almost bored expression still plastered across freckled features.

“Yup.”  He needed to get out of this line of conversation if at all possible.  “I’m Max.”
