How no one put it all together was anyone's guess. People start dying when two brothers come to town bearing the same names as thier supposed ancestors...they didn't even TRY to hide who they were.
She took her precautions. Vervain necklace, vervain bracelet. Hell, she even had a toe ring in case the other two got removed. She ingested it too. She was practically sweating it out of her system when it got warm. She kept all her weapons hidden. Every bit of research was memorized instead of taking notes. Salvatore might not be able to compel her, but he could compel others and she didn't want him going through her things in her room to see what information she was getting about the town. About them.
This town was a bonafide vampire snake pit.
"Got work to do," she looked him over when he finally approached her, "You can't seem to stay away either. Days of hiding in the shadows. I hope you were intentionally letting yourself be noticed. Would be embarrassing if you weren't."
She smirked and took another drag of the cigarette in her mouth, "What do you want?"
Damon was already annoyed and the conversation had just started. He was not exactly in the mood for bullshit, but it always seemed to find him. He'd taken mental notes of her appearance in the past few days. She'd continued to annoy the hell out of him and he made sure to return the favor. "Work? Looks like loitering with attitude at the moment," he retorted, glancing at the cigarette between her fingers and then back to her eyes.
He uttered a laugh at the letting himself be noticed comment. It really wasn't important at the moment. "And as for can't seem to stay away, I kind of live here you know. I wouldn't call it lurking." Even though, that's half of what it was. Surveillance. He had to be in the know after all if shit was going to go down.
Katherine rolled her eyes slightly at his words, as she took the seat next to him. "If I wanted Stefan, I know exactly where to find him," she said, looking over her shoulder slightly to look at Damon in the eye. If only for a moment before she turned back to the bar and held up her hand for a drink. "Though if you wanted to make it paradise, you could go find him," she said the words out of habit now. Just to get a dig under his skin after a moment of honest. She could understand why at the end of the day he didn't trust her.
"Not paradise for me," he responded, almost immediately before taking a long drink. He then put the drink back on the bar, one hand around the bottom. "And maybe you missed where I said I hadn't seen him since yesterday afternoon, anyway." He then took another drink, sighing before his gaze moved from the back bar to Katherine. "What do you want from little old me, Katherine?" He knew it had to be something. It always was. Then again, he's been surprised before.

"All things considered," Elijah agreed dryly, before he allowed Damon to continue. His tone when he spoke again was not entirely disinterested. "Your brother? No, I can't say as he has. Given his most recent run-ins with Niklaus, what do you think would possibly possess him to visit? Perhaps you should get a little microchip for him, for when he falls off the wagon. Then again, when that happens, I'm sure you could just follow the bodies. Has something happened?" No, don't get sucked in. Not your problem. Nothing happening in Mystic Falls or frankly, outside the city of New Orleans, is your problem.
Damon was already well aware this was probably a bad idea, but it was fine. He let out a short, humorless laugh at the initial suggestion. This is pointless. "Right, because nothing says brotherly love like a GPS tracker. So helpful. I'll get right on that," he says, his hands then slipping into the pockets of his jeans. "Great, great follow-up question. He hasn't exactly been Mister Stability recently given you know everything. I've been following his usual haunts, yet to see him."
"Aw, you think I'm perfect like Captain Marvel," Buffy teased. She unceremoniously sat down on the couch and faced Damon and folded her legs underneath her. "Most likely. So, if it's just us, why are you in host mode? It's not like we don't see each other all the time...."

"Host mode? Me?" he asked, then shrugging at the question. Damon uttered a light laugh after, sighing once. "Guess that's true, oh well. Anyway. Anything fun happen on patrol?" Truly, she didn't have to tell him if she didn't want to. He knew there were things that she did not want to talk about, it was something that he could relate to immensely.

"Dork," Buffy chuckled, shaking her head at Damon. "I'll be patrolling, you know." She used to patrol at the Bronze. There was no reason she couldn't patrol at the Grill. She would probably be able to concentrate better since no bands would be playing.

"Always on the watch," he jests, shrugging as he opened the door and waited for her. "Doubt you'll be needing much patrolling at the Grill. It'll probably be me, you, and a few casual drunks. Maybe Ric if he pops in, but I haven't heard from him today. Who knows." Then again, it was Mystic Falls, stranger shit had happened.
