This one’s a bit old by now.

Most of my edits were focused on making Azula look more like an actual teenager and emphasizing how much she resembles Zuko, but I also really like the headcanon of her being tall and more “strong-built,” just like him.

Both Ursa and Ozai are tall, and Zuko is already tall and strong at sixteen. And just like he trained a lot, I can easily see Azula training just as hard—mainly to earn her father’s approval. So the idea of her being just as strong as Zuko kind of stuck with me for a while.

In LOK, Zuko looked like he was at least around 1.75m (I was basing it on Korra’s height at the time, around 1.70m), so I just assumed he had grown a bit.

Ursa and Ozai also seemed tall in their appearances, but maybe that had more of a symbolic meaning in how their kids saw them.

And I could no longer relate to short king Zuko, as a 5'3 man.

Oh well.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with teenagers wearing makeup. What threw me off is how much it changes Azula’s appearance—I actually thought she was Zuko’s older sister when I was a kid.

I like to think of it as an AU where Azula isn’t constantly trying to be perfect, more like Zuko—still sharp, but in a defensive way sometimes.
