This is the first sentence of the book Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children. I read this sentence, and it resonated with me so profoundly, that I just had to share it. I haven't read much further yet, so I don't know how the rest of the book is, but I do know that this is the best opening sentence I have ever read. I think it would make a great daily affirmation, as well: wonderful way to begin a book, even better way to start a day — with the reminder that we shouldn't ever resign to a life that is less than what we wanted, less than what we feel capable of living; a reminder to ourselves and and the world around us that we are open to changes and new doors opening. (Then of course there's the small detail that we really *should* be open to them, if we want them to manifest! 😉) Have a beautiful day, friends.
