The Little Things. Newt x Reader
He didn’t know what it was he did to deserve to be where he was in this exact moment. Laying on his bed, you tucked into his side, sound asleep. He watched you intently, his eyes never leaving your face. Your nose scrunched up a little, making him chuckle softly, his lips turning up in adoration, his eyes lighting up even more. You worked hard, probably harder than anyone, and the day had worn you out. You tried your best to stay awake at the bonfire, and for the short time you were awake, you were helping the clearly nervous and shy greenie. As soon as you sat next to Newt, however, your head hit his shoulder, and your voice was soft in a whisper as you two quietly chatted. He wrapped one arm around your shoulders, the other rubbing your knuckles softy. Within a few minutes you were silent, and Newt knew he should take you to bed before anyone could wake you up. He picked you up, one arm under you, the other holding your head to his shoulder. He didn’t notice, but some of the other gladers watched him take you off, small appreciative and loving smiles on their faces as they watched you two go. He lay you down on his bed, pulling the sheets and blankets over you two. He was content watching you sleep, the stress and tension completely gone from your features and your usually tense muscles at ease, if only for a few hours. He didn’t know what it was he did to deserve to have this, to have you. The small smile stayed planted on his face, even as he drifted off into sleep.
