Itâs a scary time to be a trans woman. A lot of people might be scared to go on estrogen because they have unsupportive people in their life.
You can go on estrogen and hide it, you donât have to come out in order to go on estrogen. Itâs easy to diy and most of the effects are subtle, if youâre particularly gifted with boobs that might be a concern but youâd be surprised how much a sports bra can hide.
Just, donât wait your whole life for the time to be right. You can start medical transition without social transition.
I was on HRT for 3 years before I came out at work. When I finally did I had long hair, ear & nose piercings, painted nails, and wore a 36D bra. ONE person at work had any suspicions at all. People see what they expect to see and that can be helped along with a compression bra and loose t-shirts.
Start HRT now.

persona 3 doodles
Some sketches inspired by @marsotrix Ctrl+C fan art, about Annabelle's first few repairs. Her first eye reattachment was probably an *ordeal* Sorry Ann, I hope you enjoyed all of the silly gay side doodles, but unfortunately you are in an existential crisis comic. I'll definitely be touching on this idea more in the main comic, there's so much good trauma+trustbuilding opportunities.
I might be in the minority when I say I actually donât mind that we donât get any kind of actual âbackstoryâ on Pomni aside from the little lore drop about her occupation and hobby, because I appreciate how much that tracks with her character.
Pomni not having anything resembling a life outside of the Circus (at least from her perspective) is probably the reason she became so resigned to her fate so quickly compared to the others.
There wasnât anything necessarily wrong with her life. She had a stable job, enough freedom to indulge in personal enjoyment, but itâs clear from how she talks about it that she wasnât exactly happy about it.
âIf it has to be my homeâŚâ
This line from Pomni from ep 2 was always so telling to me because just the way she casually describes whatâs essentially her imprisonment gave me the impression that she really didnât have anything she was striving to go back to.
Yes, she was desperate to leave in the Pilot, but I think thatâs a very natural reaction. Especially if the place she suddenly found herself in is incredibly overwhelming and existentially horrifying.
But after all of that panic wears off, when the confirmation of no escape sinks in, whatâs left is justâŚresignation. Because what exactly was there for her to mourn?
No friends and no family to wonder or worry about her. All she truly lost was her reality, her identity, and her name.
Pomni also doesnât strike me as someone with actual life goals like Gangle or Zooble. Or someone aiming for a chance to get out of a bad situation like Ragatha. Or part of a career sheâs genuinely passionate about like Kinger. Hell it doesnât seem like she has general passion for anything outside ofâŚdocumenting places that have been abandoned.
And thatâs why I think her mood improves upon realizing she can still try and be someone to someone else. Why just having a friend would be enough to help her endure this new kind of monotonous horror she has to live in. Why sheâs so keen on building some kind of community with people she has no choice but to be stuck with.
And her lack of meaningful connections in the real world explains why sheâs honestly kind of bad at it.
And Yâknow what? I genuinely love that about her.
I love that we get to see how Pomni is not that great of a friend in the series, because of course she would be. I love that she struggles with doing the right thing, doesnât think things through enough, makes the wrong choices, is late with apologies, has awkward interactions, and bets on losing dogs.
Her social life was practically nonexistent, you really think this girl knows how to be a therapist of all things? Sheâs just trying her best, and her best is not always gonna look good.
But the important thing is that she keeps trying. Keeps trying to be a better friend, even to people who feel like they donât deserve her friendship. Pomniâs fear of being forgotten has always aligned with her inherent desire to create connections. Itâs why sheâs so adamant about getting these people to just talk to her, because how else is she gonna understand them better? How else can she figure out the best way to connect to them?
Idk maybe I just like the fact that Pomni isnât a perfect protagonist. Her being very passive most of the time feels on brand for an adult whoâs so bored with life but not actively doing anything to improve it. And when she does try to do something to improve it, and it ends up not working out the way she was hoping for, she would take it incredibly personally. Hence her breakdown in the finale after her plan to help everyone failed. She wasnât crying for herself, she was crying for them.
So for her âhappily ever afterâ in the real world to simply have the reassurance that sheâs made more genuine connections in her life, is pretty damn heartwarming.
But have you considered that ann just found a marker and has been adding a freckle a day to count how long she's been in here?
I think she'd lose count pretty quickly. But solid chance the freckles are drawn on It turned from a time counter to an art project by about day 17

Hey, man, c'mere. Listen. Get in real close, this is important.
You're gonna make stuff again. You're gonna make stuff you're proud of. You're gonna make stuff you're excited to share. You're going to feel that overwhelming drive to create, not just the frantic I want to want to you're stuck in now. You're going to have awesome ideas, and you're going to make them into reality. You're going to create again. You're still an artist. You're still a writer. You're still home to the same passion you had before. You'll find it again. It's not gone. It's just resting. Let it rest. You're going to make stuff again. I promise.
that post about âyou get bandits when you cut soldiers loose without payâ reminds me of the Thirty Years War, because one could say that beneath all the religious schisms and diplomatic jockeying, the heart of the thirty years war was âwhat happens when you have a state with just enough capacity to raise massive armies but without enough financial capacity to actually pay those armiesâ and the answer is that the line between professional armies and roving gangs of bandits disappears and every time you try to raise an army it just becomes another independently acting wildfire devouring the countryside. No matter how bad things get, every day I wake up and thank my lucky stars that I do not live in 17th century Europe. Or 17th century China. Or the 17th century Americas. Or basically anywhere in the 17th century.
One of my favorite little anecdotes about ancient mercenaries is that it was tradition for most of history to give your mercenaries two wages- "Bread" and "Gravy." Both were set at a daily value, but where "Bread" was intended to cover regular maintenance and life stuff and therefore paid out frequently (Here's your week's meal and gear repair budget!) the "Gravy" wage was paid out exclusively at the end of the contract as one lump sum. So like, your gravy wage and bread wage might be one silver coin per day each, so you're getting a handful of coins every week to cover food, and then at the end of an 800 day campaign, you get a wheelbarrow with 800 coins.
Employers liked offering this structure because then they didn't have to like, try to guess how long the invasion of spain will take and then carry 800 coins per soldier around the battlefield where it could be captured. It also gives them the chance to budget around the assumption that they take an enemy city and *find* vast sums of treasure even if they don't have the full value at the beginning of the war.
The main flaw of this system is that it's very easy to end up in a scenario where if you have, say, 50,000 guys that have been fighting for 800 days, you now owe 40 million silver to your army, and if the budget has not worked out to a 40 million surplus, you literally can't afford to end the war, but you can probably afford to pay them for a couple more weeks. So then you have to start thinking creatively.
Anyway across all time and history a lot of generals were ultimately beaten to death by men chanting gravy.
