what medium do you use most (if applicable, what software)?
A: I use photoshop most as a digital artists. I’m hoping to try and use CSP more in the coming year, I hear so many good things about it!
most popular piece?
A: This piece from 2018, one about cutting my hair! I’m so happy it reached so many people, made them feel known. Also very funny to know I wrote it while Cis!
3. your favorite piece(s)?
A: Ooh a hard one! But this lovely minotaur stays in my mind, the colours and linework!
4. piece you wish got more love?
A: This piece about my OC Novel, only because I love the panels and the ideas behind them! And I love my lil bug
5. how would you describe your art style?
A: Mmm, very colour heavy, detailed and organic!
6. favorite thing to draw?
A: Mmm, i do love making backgrounds, building houses and rooms that represent the people in them! And designing oc’s, always very fun!
7. easiest thing for you to draw?
A: People! I love drawing people, and fantasy people especially.
8. thing you struggle to draw?
A: Oohhh, cars, they are terrible terrible creatures.
9. whats something you always come back to when drawing?
A: Light, and usually feminine forms! Always fun to draw!
10. how do you deal with artblock?
A: By sitting back, reading other peoples comics and taking a breath. An artblock to me, is a hint you need to look away, and take in other artforms, before picking up the pen again!
11. do you listen to anything while drawing?
A: Usually listen to tv shows and podcasts! Music is for my travels!
12. describe your process while drawing
A: Mmmm, thumbnails, sketches, lots of flipping the page, lines and colours and lighting!
13. talk about a wip you like!
A: My current WIP I like is the comic pitch I’m working on.
14. whats your favorite thing about drawing?
A: Being able to translate, fun ideas from my head, into something people can see!
15. least favorite thing about drawing?
A: Waiting on responses from clients, and sometimes, my own perfectionism. It’s hard for me to let go of something that doesn’t feel quiet right, even if it needs to be put down.
16. how do you motivate yourself to draw?
A: Well as a freelancer, the rent is the loudest voice! But, a lot of the time, when it’s commissions, I love knowing I can bring something to the client, that reflects their imagination, their love of the character, the world they have made. It’s truly wonderful, to be able to gift that to someone.
19. where do you find inspiration?
A: My favourite comics (Some of my favourite creators are Emily Carroll, Mike mignola, Junji Ito) And reading new ones. I also find inspiration in various mediums, like movies and cartoons. It’s good to have a wide array of influences, it helps you to grow your own vision.
20. is your workspace, digital or not, organized (not neat, organized)?
A: Fairly! There are folders for everything!
21. what do you think your artstyle would taste like?
A: Taste like? Hm, something crisp but warm, like, a stroopwaffle dipped in tea.
24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?
A: This is hard, I have so many wonderful people leaving sweet things. I think in general though, when people pick up on small details, that I don’t expect to have been seen, it makes me feel known. And when people extrapolate on the themes? That’s so wonderful.
28. whats a piece you would like to redraw at some point?
A: I need to redraw Undyne soon, it’s my continual redraw!
30. whats something youre proud of about your artstyle?
A: The lighting, I’m proud of being able to bring warmth into a room, or into a scene. And the amount of detail in my backgrounds, I take pride of my backgrounds.
31. which fandom have you drawn the most for?
A: Mmm, most likely art for the Adventure Zone! I love my Taako!
34. whats something you still like from your old art?
A: OOoh, i think I love, my lines from older art. But mostly, I miss how much spare energy I had to draw for fun! ;o;
35. if you had one piece of advice to give your younger artist self, what would it be?
A: Don’t overwork yourself and don’t underestimate what you can create.
