your heart leapt in your chest for a moment at your boyfriend's voice. hell, you nearly forgot you had a boyfriend with how stressed you've been.

"yeah, it's open," you called out, barely having enough energy to lift your head to speak before your face was immediately buried in your blankets again.

a soft creak from the door, and then a sigh.

"oh, baby. you good?" eijirou asked, taking quiet, careful steps towards you as if you were a skiddish animal who would run away if he approached too fast.

you mumbled something he couldn't quite understand before you shook your head, a quiet groan escaping your lips.

you felt the bed dip as he sat next to you. "you wanna talk about it?"

you shifted so you could lay your head in his lap, a small pout on your lips. "not really, 'm just so tired..."

he ran his fingers through your hair, nodding. he felt his heart cracking in his chest at your words, you were so exhausted and it felt like he couldn't help you at all. "that's okay, baby. i understand!"

his cheerfulness made your eyes well with tears. exhaustion makes you emotional over the silliest things, yeah? "w-why are you being so nice to me?" you hiccuped, your hand clinging to the fabric of his pants. "i've been so distant, you should b-be mad at me..." you spoke softly, if you spoke at a normal volume it would have been too obvious you were about to cry...

eijirou's shoulders sagged at your words, a sad expression on his face. "oh, y/n. you don't have to apologize for that—i know you've been super busy, baby."

a small sob escaped your lips. "i'm scared it's always gonna be like this, that i'm never gonna have time to myself for the rest of my life..." your eyes squeezed shut before more tears could fall. "i miss spending time with you, with my friends, doing my hobbies..." your hid your face in your hands and groaned. "this suucks..."

eijirou keeps caressing your hair gently, trying to relax you. "i think you need to talk to your agency about working less hours, it's not realistic for you to be working this much while still being in school." he leaned down and gently kissed your temple.

"i know, i should... but if i do, i feel like i'm a failure. if i can't handle this, how am i supposed to handle full-time hero work?" your voice cracked as you overthought.

"don't talk like that," he quickly shut you down, squeezing your shoulder gently as you lay in his lap. "you're not a failure, baby. this a lot for anyone to deal with. if you asked me, it's super manly that you've been dealing with all of this for this long!" he gave you a toothy grin, showing off his spiky teeth.

you choked back more tears, the reassurance making you emotional. "thank you, eiji..."

he laughed softly, shaking his head. "you don't have to thank me for anything, baby. i'm just telling you the truth." he quietly played with your hair.

"how about i get a bath going for ya, yeah? i can put one of those sparkly bath bombs mina got in it! i'm sure she wouldn't mind if i borrowed one." another toothy grin from your boyfriend. "i'll go get us some food while you soak, too!! anything to help you feel better, babe."

you felt your eyes well with tears again, and eijirou simply laughed and caressed your cheek. "don't cry, babyyy, i know you're exhausted, so i gotta do whatever i can to help you! what kind of man would i be if i just let my partner suffer?

you sniffled and shook your head. "no, no—it's just... you're the best boyfriend ever, eiji." your voice cracked again, a soft expression appeared on eijirou's face.

"what?! no i'm not, this is the bare minimum!"

"eijirou, stop. i'm gonna cry again."

he laughed again before leaning down to give you another kiss. he adjusted your pillow and effortlessly scooped you up and laid you down on your bed instead of his lap, standing up quickly.

"i'll get your bath going, y/n. you just wait there, okay? and where's your water bottle? i'll fill it up!"

you felt your lip quiver. "it's on my nightstand."

"awesome! be right back, baby." he gave you a quick forehead kiss before running off, grabbing your water bottle and quickly heading in the direction of mina's dorm, probably to go ask her for one of her bath bombs.

you wrapped your arms over your chest and sighed, finally letting a few tears slip down your cheeks. they weren't sad, they were more akin to... pure relief.

you weren't any less exhausted, but maybe, just maybe... you'd be okay after all.
