Kyuhyun quite literally doesn’t know what he’s doing or what he’s feeling sometimes around you

He is feeling ever possible emotion he could feel while not knowing why or what it is that is causing these feelings and actions

He’s used to be the confident one in a relationship

Always being a bit flirty and teasing and getting a rise from his partners

And during the talking phase with you he had been doing the same

Or at least that’s what it seemed like when you two would text or talk on the phone

Now that you were activity dating —and had been for two months— he wasn’t sure if that was the case any longer

You don’t react like you had been prior in person

And it throws him off his game

The confidence shatters so quickly it seems nearly impossible for something like that to have happened to him

Kyuhyun quickly becomes the shy one in the relationship

He accidentally brushes his hand against your handing you the coffee he’d brought back from the cafe counter and is now a blushing mess

All while you’re sitting there with a pretty smile and kind eyes

And he blushes even more

He knows that two of you are dating

You two have made that more than clear to one another

So why is he the only one being affected by any contact and affection?

It’s driving him crazy

Do you not see him as attractive?

Are you not romantically interested?

Did he misunderstand you when you agreed to be an item?

Did you misunderstand?

You are over there as cool as a cucumber after brush past his front to get to the other side of the kitchen counter

And he’s standing there a blushing mess trying to not get a hardon and failing miserably

He can’t take it anymore

Forcing you to sit down

Red faced and all

He needs to get to the bottom of this

And it only leaves him blushing more

“I think you’re cute when you’re flustered.”

“I put on a good act huh?”

“Don’t worry. I can be the confident one this time if you want.”

Dear lord give him a break before he cracks

But this only fuels him

He will find a way to fluster you even if he turns into a tomato himself

“Is that poison?” you heard Heechul ask from over your shoulder as he peered into the pot on your stove.

“No!” you were quick to defend, slamming the lid onto the pot. “It’s just not ready yet!”

Heechul arched an eyebrow at you before stepping away, moving to the living room where he had been nearly the entire time since his arrival, much to his dismay as all he wanted was to be next to you.

“If you say so~”

You watched as he sat down and began cooing at your cat, who was enjoying all the attention she was getting from the man that had slowly become a more frequent member of your household. In all honesty, you wished you could be her right at that very moment instead of biting yourself for the horrible stew that was brewing on your stove top. Wanting to impress your boyfriend with a hearty meal, you’d invited him over for dinner. It wasn’t until you actually began cooking that you realized many of the ingredients you needed you didn’t actually have so you were substituting —something that should’ve been completely fine….until some of the flavors didn’t play well together and the texture started getting weird. What else could you expect from making an ethnic dish outside of its original homeland in a country that didn’t sell most of the ingredients?

The only cooking skills you would be showing off would be the ones to not do in the presence of your significant other.

Taking a deep breath, you eyed the number of a takeout place on your fridge.

Only as a last resort, you promised yourself.

Your eyes were drawn back to the pot as the lid began to vibrate as the stew continued to simmer, bubbles and an odd color made you cringe. Maybe you were indeed making a poison instead of a stew.

“How about we order in?” you asked as you turned off the stove, throwing in the towel on your dinner attempt. “On me.”

Heechul looked over at you and nodded, “If it’s better than poison…but I’m paying.”

Finally the smell of good food.

The aromas of your take out wafted all around, completely masking the odor of whatever your concoction ended up being.

“I’m really sorry,” you said as you grabbed two plates and began plating your meals. “I really wanted to make something you would enjoy.”

“I would’ve eaten it anyways,” Heechul offered, moving to grab two glasses.

“No you wouldn’t have.”

“You’re right.”

You laughed softly, slapping his arm as he feigned dramatic injury.

Plates full and glasses ready, you both moved to the dinner table and sat down ready to eat. The soft scraping and humming filled the air in no time as you both dug in. Small talk filled the silence that wasn’t filled from noises related to your eating habits. Heechul placed a piece of his beef on your plate, encouraging you to try it, smiling when you finally did and offering you more.

You two quickly finished eating, opting to do the dishes together after Heechul refused to be sequestered to the living room once more. The first few dishes were fine. Quickly lathered up with soap and rinsed clean. By the time you were halfway through however, Heechul had other plans.

He’d moved far closer to you than necessary. His thigh pressed against yours. 

It was quite intimate.

As you rinsed the final dish, a spoon, he placed his arm around your waist pulling you and nuzzling his face in your neck, pressing kisses to the warm skin.

“Heechul!”

He hummed, biting your flesh and sucking on it gently to ease the pain. His hand was creeping up your shirt, playful fiddling with your bra clasp. His nimble fingers toyed with it, moving as if wanting to unclasp it before pressing against your back. You let the spoon fall from your grasp, your wrinkly hands going to his hair as you lifted his head in order to kiss him. His hands moved to your hips, squeezing roughly as he pressed you against the countertop, quickly lifting you up onto it and standing in between your legs.

“God the things you do to me,” he whispered against your lips. “I’d take you right here if you let me.”

“Would you really?” you teased, pushing his face away gently and tugging on his shirt, “Even after I nearly poisoned you?”

“You’re the only poison I would continuously willingly eat for the rest of my life.”

“Fuck me.”

Sooner said than done.

Heechul’s hands were quick to travel back up your shirt, unclasping your bra and ripping out from under the fabric, immediately moving to tug said fabric off your body as well before there was a loud pounding at your door.

“I know you’re in there!” a very familiar voice yelled. “I’ve been ringing this doorbell for 10 minutes! Open up!”

For this specific headcanon, we’re gonna say there’s some mutual friends that you aren’t aware of

How they manage to keep thing a secret is beyond me

But they do

Onto the whole lead up to the date

For a while they are being quite weird

Asking very odd questions that are just not normal

“How do you feel about dating a celebrity?”

“Ummmmm”

Just to give an example

They set you up on a blind date

Much to your initial displeasure

And then they are involved in the entire preparation leading up to it

They are helping you plan your outfit

Accessories

“Oh! He would love that on you”

And then they proceed to throw you into the deep end as they drop you off at the restaurant with nothing more than a table number and reservation under their names

When you get to the table you have half the mind to turn around and walk out

Because why is THE Lee Donghae sitting there?????

They are getting a stern talking to

For whatever reason you sit down

Awkward moments of silence ensue where you are planning the many ways to murder your dear friends and hide their bodies

That is if you don’t die first from the smile Donghae keeps sending you as you both start holding a mindless conversation about who knows what

Dinner goes over smoothly

Pretty soon you find yourself forgetting the fools who dropped you off until you realize you don’t have a ride home

Donghae refuses to just leave you to the wolves and offers to drive you home

You are hesitant because he’s a celebrity

And you just met him

You settle for a ride to a convenience store a few blocks from your home with the promise to let him know when you get home

You two are chatting up a storm that night

And the next morning your friends are being chased by you as you throw slippers at them

Dongwook winced as he heard the violent coughing coming from the master bedroom. The little girl, laying against his chest in the baby carrier, was calm despite the harrowing coughs from the illness you’d developed about a week ago, just days short of reaching one month postpartum. Her head nuzzled against his chest, rooting for what he could only assume was your breast.

“Hold on,” he whispered softly, placing a light kiss to the crown of her head. “The bottle’s almost ready.”

She whimpered just as he heard the violent hurling of you in the bathroom. He’d have to see if it could get his mother to come over for a bit so he could take you to the hospital as soon as he could. The little one’s whimpers quickly turned into full-blown wails as she grew impatient and restless against him. He bounced light from side to side as he waited for breastmilk to reach the right temperature after having run it under warm water.

Pouring a little drop of the milk onto his wrist he sighed as he began carefully undoing the carrier, taking the one months old out of it and resting her comfortably in his arms as he carefully waited for the bottle to slip past her lips —an action that happened fairly quickly, silencing her cries as she began eating, her hand gripping onto one of his fingers. The soft suckling made him smile as he stood in the kitchen simply feeding her whilst leaning against the counter.

“Dongwook?” he heard your frail, hoarse voice call out.

He looked up from his daughter and saw you. There was no denying that you were a beautiful woman inside and out. But right now…right now you looked like absolute shit. And there was nothing he could physically do about it at that very moment. He made a note to run your bath as soon as he set the baby down for a nap in a few minutes.

“You should’ve rung the bell,” he whispered, worriedly looking at your unstable footing. “Do you need some tea? Soup? Change of clothes?”

You shook your head slowly, giving him a weak smile, “Why don’t you take a break? I can watch over her while you rest.”

His eyes widened at your request, “I’m fine. You need to rest.”

“All I’ve been doing is resting,” you voiced tiredly. “I feel so useless and guilty for not being able to do anything.”

Dongwook’s gaze softened as he looked at you, taking a few careful steps over as he continued feeding the babe in his arms. Adjusting his hold on the bottle with one hand, he reached out to you, running his knuckles delicately along your cheek.

“You aren’t useless and you have no reason to feel guilty for needing to rest in order to get at least a bit better. You’ve done so much for her —for us— the past month. You need to take care of yourself too.”

“But she—”

“She’s fine. There’s enough milk for us to use right now from your extra supply. You don’t have anything to worry about right now. Just take it easy.”

You looked at him before letting your eyes wander down the now sleeping girl in his arms. You cleared your throat in an effort to suppress a cough.

“How is she already this big?” you whispered, reaching out your hand before taking it back. “She doesn’t like the bottle does she?”

Dongwook shook his head, “This is the first time she took it willingly in the past week. The desperation must’ve finally hit her and she accepted her fate for the foreseeable future.”

“Think your mom would be-” you turned coughing violently causing your daughter to stir and make a face before Dongwook settled her, her suckling continuing.

“I’ll call her in a bit and ask her to.”

You nodded, retching and going over to the kitchen sink and vomiting. Dongwook’s borrows furrowed in concern again. He’d be calling his mom now.

“The flu?” you asked, looking at the doctor before you. “The flu’s what’s causing all of this?”

The doctor nodded looking down at her clipboard, “You happened to get a much stronger case, probably due to being only a month postpartum. Your immune system still isn’t completely back to normal. We’ll be keeping you overnight for observation and to aid with the slight case of dehydration you have.”

Dongwook smiled and gave a soft thanks as she turned to leave, “Well it looks like we’re both getting some time to rest.”

You looked at him wide eyed, “No, you have to go back home to be with-”

“My mother would sooner skin me alive if I went home and left you here alone,” he interrupted. “They’ll be fine for the night. I need to make sure that you’re okay too.”

You bit your lip in worry.

He said your name softly as he took a seat on the edge of the bed, placing his hand on your knee, “Don’t feel guilty for needing to take some time to look after yourself —for me choosing to stay here with my wife to make sure she's okay. The two of us need to be okay in order for our daughter to be okay.”

“You’re right, but I just…”

“It’s okay. Just try to get some rest. I’ll call my mom and let her know we’re staying until morning.”

Hyukjae looked at the reporters all sitting below them from where they were on the panel. All of the active members were present at the moment, Siwon sitting directly in the middle in the midst of answering a question. They had all been on some high alert paying attention to every single word said by the reporters in their questions. None of them wanted to even entertain any questions that weren’t related to their upcoming comeback.

That time for those questions and answers had passed.

Much of the attention from his initial relationship leak had already died down, a few articles were published here and there but nothing that gathered much interest. Siwon had done a good job at handling the press and shutting down any rumors and attempts to slander you and your relationship.

A new reporter stood up, mic in hand in order to be heard by everyone.

“Do you believe your ‘cradle robbing’ image may affect the sales of this comeback?” he asked without an ounce of hesitation in his voice.

Siwon froze as he stared at the reporter. His mind stopped running, shutting down as he processed the question that had just been asked. He looked like a fish gasping for air as he opened and closed his mouth a few times before Heechul answered.

“‘Cradle robbing?’” he scoffed. “You say it as though they aren’t two adults capable of making their own decisions. Now, we’re not here to talk about how our private lives impact our sales. We’re here to promote this comeback. Any other inappropriate questions from you…or anyone else for that matter?” he looked at the sea of reporters. “No? Good. Because rest assured that if any of you do even think of sneaking in a question pertaining to the matter we’ll have you escorted out.”

Jeongsoo cleared his throat giving a tight hosting smile, “Next question?”

On and on the questions came and went, no one even daring to broach the subject after Heechul had spoken.

Siwon leaned back in his chair, hands going to his face and covering his mouth as he mouthed a quick ‘thank you’ to his elder member. The elder merely raised an eyebrow before turning back to answer a question that he’d just been asked.

Once back in the dressing room, all the members sat down with deep sighs leaving their mouths.

“You don’t think they’ll talk about that question do you?” Donghae asked no one in particular.

Jonghoon shrugged weakly as he rolled his shoulders, “If they know what’s best for them they won’t. I think it’s safe to say that none of us will let it slide.”

There was a hum of approval.

“How is she doing now by the way?” Jeongsoo asked, not having had a chance to speak to you directly since the leak started. “Is she holding up alright?”

“Better than a few weeks ago,” Siwon answered, grabbing his jacket. “I think she’d like to meet up with everyone, if you all have the time that is.”

No one gave an objection as they all rose, quickly grabbing their things.

Siwon’s eyes widened, “I didn’t mean to-”

Kyuhyun looked at him blankly, “We just want to see your better half. Make sure you aren’t keeping her locked up in some dungeon. Then we might really need to stir some public opinions.”

Donghee snickered as he shrugged on his coat, “Who’s buying?”

They all looked to Siwon, who sighed, “I’ll order once we get to my place and she decides what she wants to eat.”

“How are you holding up?” Siwon asks as he sees you sitting on his couch completely zoned out despite the book resting in your lap. “Are you comfortable here or-”

You looked over at him, seemingly just now realizing that he had arrived, “What?”

Siwon stopped speaking as he looked at you steadily for a few moments before setting his things down and moving over to where you sat, crouching down before you. Taking your hands into his, he looked into your eyes silently, thumbs running over your knuckles.

“Where’s your head at?” he asked softly.

You sighed thinking back to the entire week that the two of you have battled after his private Instagram account had been hacked and, consequently, your relationship had been leaked. Siwon had advised you to stay away from social media in general until things calmed down some or at least until the agency handled the more malicious commentators. You didn’t heed his advice.

“I’m not sure,” you said softly, forcing your gaze from his, hands remaining in his. “I know you told me to not lurk on the web- please don’t make that face! -but I did look and…is our age gap that off putting? I mean 11 years is quite large but it doesn’t feel like it’s large to me? Does it feel large to you?”

Siwon gave a tight lipped smile as he brought your hands to his lip and placed kisses on each knuckle.

“Let’s get one thing clear,” he says. “I’m dating you for your age. I’m dating you because you are an incredible woman that has won my heart over with her personality, mannerism, and character. Your age doesn’t play a role in that. You could be 11 years older and I would still be dating you for those reasons and those reasons alone.”

“But the criticism-”

“-means nothing. I love you. My parents love you. My sister and niece both love you. The boys? Adore you enough to go to war for you. In fact they have- we have.”

You sigh and look down, only for his fingers to lift your chin instantly.

“I know you’re not used to this and I can’t expect you to ever get used to this, but I need you to know and understand that I will always, always, defend you. We will always defend you. None of us are ashamed of you- I will never be ashamed of you.”

“Promise?”

A - Attractive: What do they find attractive about each other?

Kyuhyun loves your legs in anything that you wear, but that’s not the only thing he’s attracted to. He loves your ability to find the good in people and be optimistic even when times are tough. You can’t help but find his ability to multitask as well as his bluntness that can come across as off putting to others attractive. You two balance each other out pretty well

B - Baby: Do they want a family?

I think since his sister had his nephews he does find himself wanting a family more and more. Seeing the level of fulfillment that he sees them get out of working together to raise two human beings into what they hope will be respectable and loving boys is something he can’t help but want one day

C - Comfort: How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

Also takes on comforting you in silence or with a soft and repetitive melody for you to focus on that he hums so you can feel the vibrations through his chest. He doesn’t ask anything until hours later or until you bring it up, but he’s all ears the second it’s available

D - Dates: What are dates with him like?

Part of me swears that this man will take you to arcades and fairs just so he can win prizes for you. But I also believe that cooking together at classes or at either of your homes is a thing. Sometimes you two get confused as a family with his nephews because once you two get pretty serious he introduces you to them and dates become much more frequent to say the least. All of his dates a intentional and thoughtfully planned

E - Equal: Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

I think Kyu is rather dominant in the relationship. He likes being the leader among the two of you, but he isn’t opposed or suppressive of the things you want and say. He does his best to think about you and what you would want when making decisions on his own when planning and stuff. Kind of gets off on you being dominant too

F - Feelings: When did they know they were in love?

I have to go with something involving his nephews (he loves them!). I think it has to be some interaction with them, whether it’s just something they say or do (like going to you for help before going to him) or hearing about something that you did for them that makes him realize just how integrated you are into his life and how much he values not only your presence but the joy you bring to him and his family. I think it really clicks when you go into “Mama bear mode” during some incident with the boys and he happens to be watching. Despite being stern in how you handle it, you make it known that you love them and care for their safety. He swears he sees the future right before his eyes in that moment

G - Gratitude: How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He’s very perceptive of everything going on around him. It may seem like he’s not paying attention or doesn’t notice at first, but he does and his heart swears each time at the thought of you doing these small things to make your lives run smoother. He writes little notes to you and thanks you for it as often as he can, honestly this might be while some of your dates get more and more intricate and thoughtful as time goes on; why he’s slightly more dominant in the relationship

He can be secretive but he finds himself just naturally telling you things. Not out of habit either, he just feels so comfortable telling you a lot of things without a second though

You inspire him to let go of the past and the fear of falling in love. He inspires you to the same. The two of you, I guess in a sense, inspire one another to put your past relationships and the feelings associated with love aside and learn to appreciate and welcome the feelings you two will experience together

Not very easily, but when he does he revels in it for a bit before brushing it off. You tend to send him a little look that say all he needs to know in order to feel more secure. He will swoop in a rescue you from any unwanted attention

K - Kiss: Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Pretty good kisser. He knows exactly to have you begging for more from him. The first kiss leaves you want just that, more, as you feel every nerve in your body tingle with excitement and joy from the touch of his skin on yours

L - Love Confession: How would they confess to their s/o?

He tells you straight up. No gimmicks or jokes. He wants you to know with there being no question or doubt about it

M - Marriage: Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Just like the family question, yes, but more so after seeing the level of joy and fulfillment it brings. He’s ready for a new chapter to start at some point and he sees that happening with you. His proposal is very sweet but intimate. It’s more than likely going to be just the two of you and you’ll tell family and friends at a later time. Married life is filled with teasing and sweet affection but you two do buttheads quite often, all of which is quickly resolved through conversation and letting each other cool off

Him: Baby, Hon, your name

You: Kyu, Hyun, Mr. Simple

O - On Cloud Nine: What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

I think he’s a bit shy and reserved. He’s not as chaotic with the members which throws them off a bit. It’s like he’s suddenly too mature for them. He strikes be a physical and acts of service type of guy, leaving to more phyical

P - PDA: Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

PDA is hard no unless it’s just holding hands or having an arm near you. I don’t think he wants to brag or anything but his hand placements does let everyone that you two are together

Q - Quirks: Something you do that he loves

He loves when you play with your hair deciding on whether to put it up or leave it down (long hair) or running your finger through it. Bonus points if it’s connected to some pavlov classical condition where you have made it a pattern to always do this before giving him head

R - Romance: How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

Not too romantic, don’t get me wrong he does do some sweet things and always wants you to be happy, but he saves the really cliche romantic things for special events he wants to be the most memorable

S - Support: Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

He does, but he doesn’t want to be overbearing or like he’s taking over. He’ll let you that he’s got your back, but it’s your hard work that will get you through to the end

T - Thrill: Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

A mix of both with a tendency to spice things up more often than not

U - Understanding: How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

I think his nephews have definitely made him more empathetic and understanding. Empathy goes a long way and makes it a thing to treat everyone he cares about with it. Especially you on the days where you need a break

V - Value: How important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?

Depends on the seriousness of the relationship really, but also there are things that come first before you, especially if you aren’t married or in a long-term committed relationship of sorts. If kids are present they are first, then you (if the above is true), if not close/immediate family. But you do hold solid ground and he’s there when you need him

He feels alive and rejuvenated. He’s not just trodding along, he’s living

Very silent as he constantly checks and waits for responses from you if you’re geographically distant. I also think he would cope by imagining what you could be doing at that very moment. He knows your schedule and thinks of the memories

A - Attractive: What do they find attractive about each other?

You have this way of making Heechul run to you and be at your beck and call. You’ve had him wrapped around his finger from the start. And the fact you know exactly what you want in life. He loves a determined woman. You are attracted to his slight chaotically normalness. He keeps things very interesting

B - Baby: Do they want a family?

A part of me wants to say no, but that’s from societal pressures to have one. On his own terms or with someone who does and is ready, yes. He’s not sure how good of a parent he will be, but if it’s something the two of you want at your own pace and when you’re both ready, he’s down

C - Comfort: How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

I feel like Heechul is a silent but physical comforter. He doesn’t say much at the start other than reassurances and making a “shh” noise, but he keeps his arms or hands on you in a rhythmic pattern. When you calm down enough he starts talking, wanting to get you somewhere more comfortable and soothing

D - Dates: What are dates with him like?

They are very homey. Movie nights (children’s movies are fun), dinner dates, sometimes you guys do couples classes for a random thing you want to try together. Netflix and chill ;)

E - Equal: Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

Pretty passive but also soft dom? Like I mentioned above, he’s at your beck and call and running after you all the time, but he’d got a mouth and he’s not afraid to give orders and have you at his beck and call within moments

I imagine Heechul realizing he’s in love one day in the middle of watching a movie with you. Everything just feels right

He can certainly come off as oblivious but he knows and makes sure that you know that he knows. He does what he can when he can for you or just flat out takes over when you’re in the middle of a chore or making dinner. For you he will cook

Pretty secretive but not without reason. He keeps a lot to himself and a part of this is just him being used to having to keep this wall up, but he slowly breaks and spills more and more regularly

He might lose a little bit of clean freakness. JUST A SMIDGE. He’s more tolerable of messes and not being in a completely white place. You add a lot of color in his home. And he’s starts getting more serious about things he does and wanting to be more demure

Not a very jealous type, but when he gets jealous he’s jealous. It shows on his face, in his stance, in the way he talks and interacts with others. Sometimes he needs some good reassurance to get over it other times you just need to let him wait it out

Def a good kisser (and removes your bra while at it). Your first kiss is heated. More like a make out session tbh. It’s like the two of you have waited forever and no longer want to waste time getting to know each other in this manner

I can see him being nervous to tell you he loves you. Why? He’s wondering what about you makes him scared to say it. And it’s the thought of you rejecting him or not feeling the same that scares him. He’ll dance around the topic for a bit, before saying it very quietly to the point where you almost miss it. When he says it more boldly, he realized based on the smile on your face that he had nothing to worry about

M - Marriage: Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Siwon practically threw himself onto the couch as soon as he’d finished mixing the masa, being told by your mother that he needed to rest for a bit before you could start making the tamales. His back was aching from the position he’d held over the large bowl and somewhat low table where he’d been hunched over mixing everything that your mom had brought over to put in. At first he hadn’t much trouble, but as the masa came together and grew thicker, got heavier, his wrists were the first to tire, followed by his neck, and then his back.

“She didn’t think you were gonna hold out until the end,” you whispered entering the living room with a glass of water and a plate of cut up fruit. “She thought you were going to quit before even reaching the halfway point.”

His eyebrows furrowed as he accepted the glass, “Really? She thought I wasn’t gonna make it?”

“It’s essentially a rite of passage to have the partners of one’s kids to take part in the tamale making process. So far you’re passing with flying colors. Snack on this before we have to take making the three hundred and some odd tamales. You think you’re in pain now? Just wait until we’re really done.”

The growing chatter in the patio space in the middle of the house had been making Siwon nervous the more he spent hidden away in the kitchen helping get the just finished tamales from the vaporera. He couldn’t say the name of the tamale steamer for the life of him, but he was the only one who could reach the bottom of the pot from where it sat on the stove. He’d immediately taken over upon seeing you and your mother struggling through the hot steam and your vertically challenged statures from where he had been helping your dad set up tables and chairs for the guest who had yet to arrive at that time.

Now that everyone was there, surprisingly having arrived on time for once, according to your mom, he was afraid that him not being out there was giving the wrong impression. Heck, for all he knew, the little bits and pieces he could make out from their conversation could be about him and how he was a horrible partner.

Surely they wouldn’t be talking about anyone else but him, right? He was the object of question since his existence had been made known by you to your family in a group chat a while ago.

“Fueron a matar la vaca o que?” he heard a male voice ask jokingly from the patio.

He’d heard that phrase from you many times. Quite literally translating to ‘Did you go and kill the cow or what’ you often used it when he was taking a long time in making dinner…or when Jeongsoo – who had treated you like a little sister from the start – took too long with anything he was cooking for you. 

Your mother responded with something very quickly, and given her tone, she was not happy that he was complaining about waiting when he wasn’t the one helping in the kitchen.

“Protective already,” you mumbled, bumping him with your hip. “I think that should be enough for now.”

Placing the lid back on the steamer he grabbed a platter from the counter and waited for you and your mom to start making your way out of the kitchen before following. The second he stepped out, all conversations ceased as all eyes turned to him.

“Achis achis los mariachis,” he heard someone gasp. “You pulled him!?”

That was the start of the questioning and the interrogations where he was deemed guilty until proven innocent began.

Your father had been right.

His brothers were not easy to crack.

Every little thing he said in response to their questions was scrutinized and picked apart in an attempt to catch him in a lie; to find any form of deception in his intentions and words.

None were found.

But that didn’t stop the older men from testing him. It was borderlining on hazing as they kept giving him drink after drink once the men had moved to the back garden, the rowdy dog he’d met the day before calmly resting at his feet (not before peeing on him the moment he’d entered from excitement with elicited a number of laughs).

“You know,” the oldest of your uncles began once the conversation had died, taking a sip from the beer bottle that had been resting at his feet as he sat on a white bucket. “My brother’s daughter is very precious to all of us. She’s the only niece we have among us on our side of the family.”

“She’s had us wrapped around her finger from the moment she was born,” another uncle added. “And you’re the first man she’s ever mentioned to us. The first she’s ever brought home.”

“Our Nena is someone we ask you to treat well. To love and be true to. She’s got a big heart and we’ve seen her after she’s handed it over to boys who didn’t deserve it,” a third continued. “I guess what we’re trying to say is-”

“Don’t fuck this up,” the oldest finished. “She loves you dearly and I don’t think she’ll be the same if you aren’t in her life, Mijo.”

Mijo.

The word alone resonated within his chest as he let it sit there before looking back to the patio where you were sat next to your mother, holding your cousin’s daughter as she slept despite the loud chatter. You happened to look over in his direction, meeting his gaze and smiling brightly at him.

“No need to worry,” he whispered. “I’m going to marry her and treat her like the queen she is.”

It was silent for a split second as he looked back at the men around him before one opened his mouth making a sound of disbelief he’d heard many times from you. ‘That sound discredits everything said before it,’ you had told him once. But this time it didn’t discredit anything.

“Better do it before she beats you to it,” one of your cousin’s joked. “She has never been one for tradition.”

You bowed as you returned the final dog to its home after the daily walk you gave her along with six other dogs. To any other person, that phrase would make you seem crazy, but having a love for animals and knowing that they listened fairly well to you, being a dog walker walking a relatively large number of dogs at once was not difficult by any means. Not to mention that it was a good cover for your other job.

Delivering food.

Specifically in the more exclusive area of the city, seeing as most of the dog owners lived there anyways. You got paid and got familiar with the ground and area you’d be expected to make a quick escape – delivery! – during different hours of the night. Getting familiar with the escape, delivery, routes would make your times much more efficient and ultimately benefit you more.

But seriously. You needed to get your mind in check lest you slip up and blow your cover.

Walking away from the home’s front door, you stuff your hands into the pockets of your jeans before looking up the street eyeing the villa that lay just behind a close gate at just briefly opened revealing the extensive driveway leading up as a car exited, slowing down once it reached where you stood. The window rolled down before you could turn away and leave.

“What are you doing out here?” Hanseo asked, looking at you with the puppy eyes you’d grown accustomed to seeing every time you saw the head of Babel. “Aren’t you going to be late for your other job if you don’t get to your apartment soon to wash up?”

You took your hand out of your pocket and looked at the time nodding at his comment, “Guess I lost track of time walking the dogs. Mind giving me a ride?”

He opened the door from inside the car scooting over to the driver’s side letting you get in. Giving the driver the street to your address you set off, listening as Hanseo began complaining about his older brother.

Your target.

The driver didn’t pay a second thought to anything that was being said by his employer, focusing on driving and pretending as though neither of you were even in the car as he drove.

“He’s going insane,” Hanseo whispered. “Hanseok is going to end up killing more people than any of this is worth. And I know for a fact I’m on that list.”

A part of you felt bad for him. He wasn’t meant for this life. The betrayal and cover-ups weren’t something he should have to be dealing with. But ultimately the life he was born into and the way of business he’s enabled during his time running Babel. Much like how you were using the boy to try and gather as much information on your target once you realized it wasn’t Hanseo.

“Why don’t you leave?” you offered, without thinking. “Get away from here as as quickly as you can. You have more than enough money to buy yourself a new identity and start a new life without any fears.”

You have the luxury of being able to do that unlike me.

“I wish I could do that,” he uttered. “But I can’t. I have to make things right before even thinking about leaving.”

Raising an eyebrow at his words, you nodded, reaching for the door and opening it as the car stopped in front of you apartment building. “Right. Well, good luck with that.”

Cutting the engine to the delivery bike, you grabbed the order from the back of the insulated pack and made your way inside the rundown building scanning for the law office where you were to deliver the jajangmyeon orders. A part of you was curious to know what Hanseo had up his sleeve, but that wasn’t the nature of your acquaintanceship with him. He sought you out whenever he was lonely, needed someone to vent to (the perfect time for you to gather more on Hanseok and his mental state to play your moves just right), or needed advice.

What fool would take advice from an assassin for hire, you don’t know, but Hanseo would more than likely take even if he knew of your real job. Not that mattered at that very moment.

Spotting the name of the law firm, you rushed to the entrance and knocked on the closed door, pulling out your phone and tapping something on the app just before the door opened. Lifting your gaze from the now black screen, you didn’t doubt that your eyes widened by the smallest amount at the man before you – who clearly hadn’t recognized you or if he did, completely ignored that detail.

“Four jjajangmyeon and an extra order of pickled radish,” you called back the order just to confirm, voice as steady as can be until you saw a familiar face poking out from behind Vincenzo Cassano. “You’re making things right by helping a law firm?”

Hanseo’s face lit up as he recognized your voice and took in your familiar face, breathing out your name as he pushed past the consigliere you’d come across more times than you would like while carrying out assignments. One of which you still clearly remember him saving your life after the police had been tipped off.

“Come on in and join us for lunch!” he offered, already pulling you into the space, your glove slipping off just enough to expose the tattoo on the side of your wrist, small enough to go unnoticed by most and easy enough to ruin in the event that you’re about to be exposed.

Now he remembered you by the looks of it.

“I’m sure she’s got other deliveries she needs to make and doesn’t want to lose her… job,” Vincenzo spat out, eyes narrowing at you. “Do you mind if I go down to get your plate number? You got here a lot earlier than we were told. Put in a good word to your employer.”

You gulped, covering it with a smile, “As long as it doesn’t take long, I do have another order in the box.”

Hanseo’s face fell, mirroring that of a kicked puppy’s as you turned to leave, before going back in with the food they’d ordered.

“You’ve grown some,” Vincenzo offered as the two of you went down an extra flight of stairs to a lower floor. “You were what? Sixteen the last time I saw you?”

“Seventeen,” you corrected. “You look older yourself. Is that a grey hair?”

He shot you a glare as he stopped in the middle of the dingy hallway, “What are you doing here? I thought I told you to get rid of that thing and stop getting involved in that business. Gave you enough  money to help get you started somewhere else too.”

“I did, up until a few months ago. Some clowns  thought they could get away with killing my ‘aunt’ in some medical trial. I’m merely offering my services to others on the same boat.”

“Babel?”

“That obvious?”

“I’ve kept some tabs on you.”

“Then why are we having this stupid conversation?”

He took a step closer to you, forcing you to take a step back, pressing your back against the wall, “You’re playing with a devil whose one a different spectrum of evil than anyone you have been hired to kill before. Take some advice from me, for once actually take it, and stop while you’re ahead. Hanseo doesn’t deserve you to be using him like this and you deserve to live a better life than one on the run.”

“I’ll stop running once Jang Hanseok is dead.”

He closed his eyes for a few seconds before letting out a deep breath, “If you were to kill him, how would you do it?”

“I’d let a drill slowly impale his body bit by bit so that suffers for everything he’s done,” you responded without batting an eye. “Might stay and watch too.”

Vincenzo stared at you long and hard for a hot minute before stepping back, “You know, I could use your skill to gather more info on him and get rid of some other road bumps we might come across.”

“Do I get another identity?”

“I can pull a few strings.”

“Give me names.”

Hyukjae finds your mind and determination the most attractive. You have such incredible thoughts and constantly wow him with your mind blowing conversations. They always leave him starstruck and looking at you with the biggest googly eyes known to mankind. You are most attracted to his casualness and down-to-earth way of being. He’s so real and tangible that it just makes your relationship feel just the same and that much more real

He does. I imagine dates with Hyukjae do have a very casual or intimate feel. Weekend getaways to local port towns, camping trips, picnics, all very down-to-earth. They allow for the two of you to relax and have a taste of different aspects of relatively normal lives. Honestly they’re very sweet and really help you two grow close in the early stages. Although during that time you each have separate rooms and tents

Equal with more dominant tendencies. He’s the man and will take the protector role very seriously, but he also recognizes and values you being your own person and handling things on your own. He realizes when, and this is gonna string a nerve, but when you show up for him and his family during a rough time (iykyk). Yet seeing you be so present and physically interacting with his family in ways that showed you just wanted to help them get on their feet in any way you could (ie. bringing meals, ushering them to go out and wash up, just being a listening ear or holding them). He's silent but active when showing his gratitude. He sees everything and really wants to tell you verbally but he gets shy so he usually ends up writing a thoughtful thank you note and buying you something to take with you to work or enjoy during a relaxing bath. He’s big on giving you massages too

He does tend to hide things to not be a burden for you, especially early on. He’s already afraid that he could be too much for you considering he's already an idol with dispatch breathing down his neck for the next bite. He keeps things to himself, in his mind, for your benefit and sake of mind. This is something that can easily be addressed with a conversation about it though. The second it’s brought up he’s gonna change and adapt to what you wish

Gets jealous relatively easily, but mainly because he’s afraid that you’ll find someone who can give you the life you deserve without media scrutiny. Everytime he sees a man approaching you that, in his mind, fits that bill, he closes off. Becoming distant and keeping away from you until he notices any signs of discomfort from you or when you explicitly call him and introduce him as your boyfriend. That always makes his heart swell

Not at first, but with everything practice makes perfect. But the first kiss with you is very messy and rough to say the least. Neither of you know to give or take control without making it seem like neither of you are disinterested. It’s quite funny to say the least. A redo is in the works and that one, whew, boy oh boy is that one for the books

He confesses in the midst of the whole realizing he’s in love you thing. Once he realizes just how short life is, he doesn’t waste any time. It may not be the best time, but if there’s anything he’s learned it’s to not wait. He needs to let you know and whatever happens happens, but at least you know

I feel like he does, but he might be a bit afraid to tackle it because of his job in a sense. A lot of reassurance would be needed but once he’s decided to propose and go through with a wedding there’s no going back. The proposal is very grand but on a small scale if that makes sense. Like you guys do a lot of things leading up to it. Close family is present from both sides and a few close friends. Marriage with him is very similar to Donghae’s, he’s going to be present both in body and in the household. He takes on chores and will never let you lift a finger to do the dishes if you’re the one who cooks (even if you aren’t to be exact)

It’s kind of obvious to those close to him (super obvious to Yesung). He’s also much more standoffish for a bit when asked about his private life. Blatant lies and stuff as he tries to avoid giving away anything or saying too much. Laughs a lot more too

I think Donghae would be most attracted to your calm demeanor and the goals you have that you want to fulfill within the next few years. Something about you having your dreams and aspirations is just incredibly attractive to him. As for you, what about him isn’t attractive. He’s just so genuine in everything he does even if his intentions don’t always come across. He always does things either meaning well or for the sake of making you smile. His effort just never fails to make you fall for him again and again

150% wants a family. I believe he once said he wanted 3 or 4 kids by the time he turned 34 but I don’t remember. He dreams of the day he can be a father and raise a family that he can devote himself to and find a new sense of accomplishment and love from that he has only ever dreamed of

Very vocal comfort is provided from him. He’s consistently voicing small phrases in a very steady and soft voice in an attempt to give you something to ground yourself with and let you know you aren’t alone. Also very physical and nuzzles with you

Dates with Donghae are very sweet and thoughtful. He tries to plan them to be something that you two will both enjoy based on mutual likes or be as memorable as possible. He also constantly asks if you’re enjoying it and each time you say you are, he’s just beaming and getting more and more excited about what’s to come

Equal with some passive/submissive tendencies. He’s a golden retriever boyfriend who will stop at nothing to please you and make sure you are as happy as can be. Tell him anything you want him to do or get and he will do it without question

I think he would know the second he starts thinking about your long-term future together. Apart from being happier and much more lovey dovey with others. He’s picked up some small habits of yours like always having hand sanitizer on hand, hand lotions, having hair ties around. I wouldn’t say he gets jealous easily, but it does happen more than he would admit to. He gets so pouty and clingy with you, yet at the same time he also closes off a bit, not wanting to talk about it because he knows it’s a bit ridiculous

The proposal, while simple and sweet, is very memorable and romantic. It is very well thought out in his end as he interwove some of the memorable aspects of your relationship present.
