Hi everyone! Mod Katie here. This is gonna be a little long, but in the interests of transparency, I have a lot to say, so please bear with me! So due to personal reasons, 2 of our artists– Bhai and Syd, specifically, have had to leave. As always, this zine functions on the premise of real life first, and is wholly a passion project, which means that we didn’t hesitate to let them go. Health– mental and physical– will always come first.
That in mind, we plan to open up artist applications again! A big part behind what makes this zine so difficult, I think, is the commitment we are asking for. Most zines will typically only ask for one piece, however because of the length of the fics for this one– as previously stated, around 10k words at least each– artists are asked to make 2 to 3 pieces, with at least one full page work. Furthermore, the artists and number of fics are a little unbalanced, so those who can do more are asked to do so, though we do allow artists to partner up to make things easier! As it is, we will probably need to postpone our release date by a few months to accomodate the new artists we choose to accept, so we hope all of you can understand!
This zine is very much a do-what-you-can project, and we all plan to split the profits evenly in the end. However, I feel I should make it clear that, again, this is a PASSION PROJECT. We can make no promises about the success of the zine, and since we only plan to produce a digital one, we have somewhat low expectations for the sales. We all work together and help where we can– one of our current artists doubles as beta for example, and another is doing layout. Our writers frequently discuss their works together and build on each other’s works. We’re a happy little family, and we put in our efforts because we enjoy it and are excited to share this zine with you. Still, we don’t want any of you to apply under the wrong impression. This zine is a little more work than any traditional zines, but from our perspective, it’s worth it for how much fun we’re having putting it together.
Also, while we do put life first and don’t mind if you occasionally need to be late or take breaks– we don’t really have solid deadlines truth be told– because this is our second run of applications, please be certain you will be able to follow through with the project if you apply! Thank you so much!
