In a culture where people profit off of you hating yourself, participating in radical acts of self care is a necessary and vital rebellion. It is not a passive action. It is violent and chaotic to counter condition oneself to find time to work on your relationship with yourself. To shout that you love yourself and plant your feet in the ground when your mind starts trying to drag you into a spiral of self loathing. To forgive yourself for your weaknesses and to be gentle with your body and heart. What if we build a culture instead that defied limited views of love and beauty? What if we forged a new world that valued happy, healthy, authentic beings who honour themselves as they honour everyone else. What if this new world begins and ends in the simple, chaotic action of the individual permitting themselves to engage in rebellious, radical self care?
