Let's talk about crystals and Pantone's 2017 #colouroftheyear, the springlike shade of #greenery. The colours of the year are meant to reflect and forecast the mood of current culture. It's about energy - just like crystals!

Pantone describes "Greenery" as being: - refreshing - a revitalizing shade - symbolic of new beginnings.

This feels perfect to me. So what #crystals relate to these qualities?

GREEN CALCITE This stone comes to mind not only for it's green colour, but for its relation to renewal, letting go of old habits and things that no longer serve us, restoring balance after moving out of your comfort zone, and for clearing the environment of negative energy. It is also a stone of prosperity and abundance.

PERIDOT Not everyone knows about Peridot off the top of their head, but it is one of the most radiant gems of the Earth. Associated with well-being and warmth, Peridot is associated with the Sun and positive, light-oriented energies. Keep it nearby to stay mentally stimulated and refreshed, and tune into internal awareness.

CRYSTAL SELF CARE: SLEEP THERAPY

Moving in to the new year, it can feel like we’re still trying to catch our breath from the holidays. The pressures of getting it all together can be difficult to balance - and sleep can suffer as a result. As always: there’s a crystal for that!

How to do it:

Lay your crystals out on a grid before bed, arrange them on a nightstand or even wear them to bed. Some people like to put a few crystals together in a pouch and keep it by their pillow. In general, just keep them in your bedroom.

Crystals that help with sleep can be selected for their calming and grounding properties, and they can also be chosen intuitively. For me, this would be rose quartz.

Grounding crystals are excellent for clearing the mind for rest. They take excess energy out of your head before and during sleep. We suggest: Black Tourmaline Amethyst Smoky Quartz Hematite

Other stones helpful for clear, deep sleep include Quartz Crystal, known for facilitating pleasant dreams, and which can also be used to heighten the vibration of any other stones.

Selenite has is also often recommended for insomnia, known for its encapsulating protective energy and aura cleansing properties.

#wintersolstice is upon us - the shortest day of the year. But don't despair in the dark: this is the perfect time to turn inward and find our own little light inside - and to let it shine!

TAKE AND MOMENT AND GET YOUR INNER GLOW ON.

Taking a moment of quiet with your favourite crystal will help you find that inner glow that will warm you the rest of the day. Try this relaxing, enlightening and cozy crystal meditation and see if it might become a winter ritual!

> Choose a stone that evokes a sense of warmth and light. It might be a sparkly gold citrine, or it might even be a dark and earthy piece - it doesn't matter, you can't do it wrong!

> Take a quick 5 minute time-out to close your eyes and keep your mind on the stone in your hand. It's ok if your mind wanders. Bring it back to the stone.

> Meditation not your thing? Place your pieces of #light anywhere where you can see them often - your desk, a windowsill, a grid, or your night stand. Every time you see them, take a moment to visualize that light inside you.
