I know it’s not really outright stated, but I feel like Necro asking Neow “is it even possible?” seems to me like she knows she’s faced off against the Architect several times and is frustrated that he isn’t dead yet. I don’t feel like that’s something she would be as likely to say if she thought this was her first climb — I think she would be more blindly optimistic and confident that she would be able to successfully pull it off. She’s endured countless failed climbs and probably feels like the task is impossible now because of her numerous failures. Plus Neow saying “Architect…weakening…we stronger…” implies that she feels like with the knowledge Necro has gained from past ascents, Necro will surely be strong enough to annihilate the Architect this time (though I suppose you could also interpret this as her trying to give Necro sans-her-memories-of-past-climbs an inflated sense of confidence in what she believes to be her first time facing off against him). Furthermore, Neow telling her “he…still…breathes…” seems to me like she’s aware that Necro knows he isn’t dead yet. She knows that Necro has tried (and failed) in the past and is trying to fuel her rage further so she doesn’t give up.

Also, I feel like it only adds to her vengeance and rage against the Architect further if Necrobinder remembers and is unable to forget her past ascents. I think she’s fully aware that Neow is reviving her, but rejects the “puppet” label for herself (see above: one of her interactions with Orobas) as she believes she is fully in control of her own autonomy; she probably sees Neow’s revivals as a way to better ensure her success. From Necro’s point of view, Neow is not controlling her; she willingly decided to make this deal with Neow reviving her out of her own volition. Plus, she’s an undead lich now, so she no longer has a normal human brain that can be as easily manipulated by Neow like Ironclad and Silent. I feel like she’s in a similar situation as Defect (a construct, also rebuilt itself differently so Neow can’t wipe its memories anymore) and Regent (Starrian, of a different species, can regenerate himself). I wonder if she obsesses over her mistakes from her previous climbs…what she could have done better…and if that only makes her more restless because she can’t forget.

This Epoch with Pael is probably weak evidence but to me I sort of imagine the extended dialogue to be more like this when Necro approaches Pael:

Necrobinder: I’ve tried so many times to kill the Architect and I just can’t seem to do it. Every time, I keep failing. What do I even do?

Pael: Killing Father isn’t the answer.

Necrobinder: You call that thing your father!? Look, I’m sorry, but your father killed mine. He killed my whole family and everyone I care about. He must pay for everything he’s done.

Pael: Killing him won’t bring any peace, though.

Necrobinder: It will bring me peace once I know he’s dead.

Pael: I still don’t agree, but if you so insist…here, take a part of me. Any part you like. This will help you get his attention…

If you disagree with me/see them differently that’s fine as long as you’re respectful 💖 it’s really not that serious lmao these are characters from a silly roguelike game with hardly any canon lore to them I won’t be mad these are just MY opinions and how I PERSONALLY view them)

Ironclad — bisexual and has been aware of it since before he made the pact with Vakuu (he’s had crushes on both men and women in his clan) but never really acted on any romantic/sexual feelings he had for anyone because of the ongoing war against the Valleyguard. Never really had a chance to act on it much after making the contract either (for a good long while) because well…Vakuu encompassed and controlled all his thoughts.

Silent — bisexual demiromantic. Despite her being the oldest of the cast, she doesn’t even know what love or romance really is. She’s very much a lone wolf and keeps to herself (very easy when you have vowed yourself to silence, for speaking is weak) so she never had the chance to really form deeper bonds with anyone or even think about her sexuality until she meets the other slayers while climbing the Spire. Her sister issues have made it difficult for her to trust others as well, so falling in love is a very slow process for her. And when she does realize she is in love (it takes her so long in the first place to even identify that what she’s experiencing is indeed love — she knows about the concept, but doesn’t think it’s ever a thing that can happen to herself), the feeling is entirely foreign, confusing, and a little scary.

Defect — definitely asexual, as for romantic orientation…I want to tentatively say panromantic? I ship it with Flaw mostly and Regent (both in a cutesy fluffy way). I don’t think it really cares what gender its partner is; if it’s happy with them it’s happy

Watcher — honestly the character I’m the least “decided on” in terms of sexuality (with her I’m probably the most “open” or “flexible” to whatever other hcs people have for her, even if they “go against” what I’m about to say as it’s not really “set” in stone for me). I’m kind of leaning towards bi but idkkkk. She’s absolutely 100% sapphic (to me, I like Necrowatcher and Silentwatcher too much) but she’s a little in denial about it. She’s not aromantic like she thinks she is (I can see demiromantic though). And she’s not in denial because she thinks that being LGBTQ+ is a sin (it was instilled deeply within her to always be kind, respectful, and tolerant to every person no matter their background — it’s something she’s internalized deeply especially since she is blind and very visibly disabled), but because in her order, she was taught to forego and abstain from earthly pleasures such as romance to maintain the most emotional control possible. Having strong emotional control is essential to her being able to use the divine Stances to their fullest extent so she kind of has to ignore her feelings for the most part and channel them into something else. I also kind of think she’s somewhere on the asexual spectrum at least — I’m not sure where — but she’s not allosexual.

Regent — gay. Like how do you look at Regent and not think he’s a gay man lmaooo. I do think he’s slightly in denial about it for some reason though (despite being aware of it on some subconscious level since his creation/birth). Not sure why I feel this way about him even though Starris is 100% an accepting planet where anyone can be whatever gender or sexuality they wanna be lol (and no one will care)
