hello, stranger!

this is an old-ass main blog, so if you scroll back far enough, you'll meet a version of that me hasn't gone through puberty yet and thinks once upon a time is a hardcore grown-up show 🙃

that's it! I try to keep this blog a safe zone from real-life negativity and other doom scroll content, but all fictional angst is fair game! have fun!

Like, the reason she gives for being in Sam's body is to use it as a vehicle for revenge, which is why she goes after hunters / people who have hurt and wronged her in her old body. BUT whenever we hear her speak, she strangely doesn't linger on that. What she does instead is go on and on about nice it is to be in a body that no one wants to hurt.

Meg spends the whole episode begging Dean to kill Sam, her new identity, seemingly just for the thrill of knowing he won't.

She uses Sam's "dewey, sensitive eyes" to get access to every person she tries to kill and revels in their trust. It's so different from the way she acted in her previous body - prickly and hard to get, like she knew the world wanted to hurt her but was trying to outfox it. But now Meg's in the body of a man who is trusted, protected, and cared for by the people around him (at this point in the series lol). She enjoys respect and the benefit of the doubt.

Of course this is the body that she wants to stay locked inside of with a sigil. Of course she rejects the name Meg when Dean realizes who she is, saying "Not anymore. Now I'm Sam." She's already been called "not a girl" (by Dean) once before when she was exorcized from Meg Masters. He used it as an excuse to hit her: "You ain't a girl."

From this, Meg accepts that her identity (both as a woman and a person) can be taken from her any time it suits the desire of the one holding the knife. At this point, she seems to feel that it's not worth it to cling to her own identity if it's just going to be discarded anyway. So Meg becomes someone new instead: Sam.

(Add on the extra layer of text that Sam is protected and revered by demons as well as hunters, and Meg's got double the reason to use him as her own personal safe house.)
