What if every time she walked by a river she felt something she couldn’t place. Like forgetting the lyrics to a song but humming the melody. What if she tried to pull on the string of those buried memories but they wouldn’t unfurl. What if she knew, deep down, there were places where the veil between realms was thin but never searched for them. What if she never tried to find magic again and just went on with her human life?

Sometimes I feel like that. Like I know there’s something more. Something other, better. Like maybe I’ve had adventures I can’t remember with friends who are now just faceless silhouettes in my mind. Like maybe my cohorts are just waiting for me to remember them. To get away. To come back.
