I really used to shit on people who would bitch about Anime not covering everything in the manga/not doing the story justice/"you have to read the manga bro" but fuck if Berserk hasn't changed my mind about that. Guts was raped as a child and his experience with SA and being sold off by the person who was supposed to protect him is core to his character. I haven't done the research to see why it was cut(I'm guessing there was no way it would have gotten aired in 1997 Japan with that in it) but it really removes understanding of Guts and understanding of his relationship with Casca. Trying to read discussions about Berserk from people who have only seen the anime is pissing me off so I figured I need to put this out there.
