that part at the end of hollow city where emma is so exhausting that she can barely move or make sparks, let alone fire, and jacob has to hold her up just so she can stand. she’s not impenetrable. like, her personality and her determination is far bigger than herself, you just rarely see that bc she’s very good at keeping her guard up and putting on a face.

I’m just gonna post this now before I move back to emma’s page, but if you are genuinely interested in writing with me, please actually show me that you are. I haven’t mastered the art of telepathy, and enthusiasm goes a long, long way. I know I seem confident, but I am very insecure and I like to be encouraged and reminded of my partner’s interest in our plots and dynamics because it keeps me interested, too.
those ray ban bots hacking people's accounts are back, so gentle reminder: DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINKS YOU DON'T TRUST.

me flirting: I don’t want you to die
Weren't most of the refugees that Wales took in during WW2 Jewish and Belgian? I didn't really like the film either and I get wanting more diversity and that POC did exist back then too, but having all the children be white wouldn't be such an inaccurate depiction given the time period and setting of the loop.
I didn’t really want to be online this weekend, so you’re picking a very good time to send me this ask. anYWAY. the loop in general was created for displaced peculiars as a means to keep them safe. over the years, it found and lost many children ----- especially during the war. it should be noted that while, yes, white jewish people were the most affected by the holocaust, they were also not the only people to have been viciously murdered for their race or beliefs. black people were hunted down, too, people who were romani jewish were also affected ----- both of whom are considered people of colour. is it possible that they, too, fled to the uk in order to escape persecution ? perhaps. you can’t rule that out.
you should also consider the fact that people of colour have existed in the uk, wales included, since, god, the middle ages, perhaps ? the existence of black people in wales dates back as far as the 18th century. additionally, many peculiars arrived in the loop AFTER the war, too, and immigration in the twentieth century began to grow after the war had ended. thousands of people immigrated to the uk from countries outside of europe, such as hong kong, india, pakistan, the caribbean and jamaica. they may not have all stayed, but they existed. the children who lived with miss peregrine were always seen as odd by the people of cairnholm.
by your logic, if wales back then was as white as you’re depicting it to be, why would the people of cairnholm not think it strange that these children of different skin tones ----- that maybe they’ve never seen before ----- were living with the funny woman in the house far away from the rest of the population ? as a person of colour myself, and someone whose family immigrated to the uk during the mid - twentieth century, I personally don’t see a fault in it. and given that burton said this after the film’s release :
I don’t feel at all bad about inserting poc into this story.
Hollow City - Ransom Riggs.
