I think one reason Sunflower/Dandelion is so good as a ship is bc Sunny and Basil have literally seen the worst in each other and love each other regardless. Like we know Sunny feels affection towards Basil bc they hug in the good ending in Sunny’s dreams (showing what he wants to happen), in Headspace their power move is them holding hands and it’s literally op, Basil is literally the first person Sunny smiles at in over four years. Basil clearly still feels affection towards Sunny bc obvious reasons, including the fact that he held Sunny on such a high pedestal that when Sunny left him, it sent him into a spiral where he managed to convince himself that Sunny was completely innocent. they both have literally seen the worst in each other. But they still find it in themselves to smile at each other in the end- a small symbol of hope.
