âDepends on your sense of humor, doesnât it?â He asks, again, smirking to himself. Han thought he was funny, at least. As the body is torn to pieces, leaving a mess of flaky skin floating in the air and piling up on the concrete between them. Han doesnât seem affected by the flakes, every so often deeply exhaling as he attempted not to breathe them in. Heâs done worse than this, he silently reminds himself.
âItâs just to get rid of the body.â He further elaborates, chucking broken bits of the man into the garbage back. âIâm not going to stick around and roast marshmallows, I assure you.â But Yuki did have a good point about the head; right now it was still relatively distinguishable as his mark, but by the time he gets to his employer, itâll be a worthless hunk of dead skin cells.
He pauses in his work to tug out his phone, taking a brief moment to crouch down and take a photo of the face as proof of death before gingerly picking up the head and snapping it off the rest of the torso. âIâve seen blood lossâŚthis isnât just blood loss, this isâŚtotal loss of bodily fluids at a cellular level.â Han replies but does not further question it. Heâs not sure heâll ever be needing such a drastic process just to kill someone. âBut thanks for the headâs up.â
Yukiya cringes at the joke but shakes it off. âTrue. Most of the fluids went into keeping that bush alive.â He stands up and frowns again at the flakes of skin and whatnot clinging to his rubber gloves. The body isnât even recognizable now, broken into dozens of little pieces.Â
Another awkward silence falls upon them, broken only by the periodic sound of snapping or impact of a body chunk being thrown into a garbage bag. And though heâs been trying to keep his curiosity to a minimum for the sake of his own life, it gets the better of him. He canât help it; heâs always been a curious man.Â
â... So, why were you paid to kill this man?â He asks though he doesnât expect an answer. A threat, a vague not-answer, or just being flat out ignored, maybe. Â
dxspereauxâ:
Truthfully, Han doesnât care. He doesnât care what Yuki has to do after all this, or whether or not he gets caught dealing with his blood eating habits. Itâs not Hanâs business and heâs not getting paid for it, thus it promptly gets brushed aside in his mind. His usual way of dealing with witnesses was done in a similar manner; heâd get rid of them the same way as this body, although they may be alive during the process.
Han looks over to his new helper and smirks. âDonât look so glum. I could have shot you and asked for your assistance too.â Which, if Yuki didnât start hurrying up, he still might do.
âYeah, like thisââ He murmurs, crouching down to the remains, taking a firm hold of an arm and bending it back until the bone snapped and the paper thin skin shredded. He gingerly waves the arm at Yuki. Apparently hitman do have a sense of humor. âSee? Whatever you did to him made him fragile. Just put some muscle into it,â He bends the elbow back until the arm snaps in two. âAnd heâll make good firewood.â
Yukiyaâs face scrunched up with distaste. âThatâs not funny.â he said and stooped down to take hold of the other arm. He has done this before when he was too lazy to drag out the whole body at once. That didnât mean he enjoyed doing this, though. As he snapped the bone and tore the arm apart, he was reminded of the reasons why.Â
Flakes of dead skin fell away like snowflakes, catching in the slightest of winds. âLosing all of your blood tends to do that,â he murmured as he reached for the torso. It didnât take much force for his hand to just plunge right through. Another sour look crossed his face as he tore away a chunk. âI doubt this firewood would smell good, but to each their own.âÂ
Weirdo.
âYou need the head intact, right? You might want to put it in a separate bag or something. It might get a bit... powdery after a while.âÂ

âRight, you only read those âberriesâ.â He mumbled before taking his leave.
He knew he was being rude, appearing out of nowhere, making himself at home in a place that wasnât his home and now it felt as if he was trying to take over. Did it matter thought? That man was doing a horrible thing. He shook the thoughts away, and got ready to head out for a long walk.
It was dark by the time he returned. He was exhausted, but made his way to the kitchen and started putting all the food he bought away and thought about making something before he went to bed, but decided against it. Besides, the other was probably asleep by now. No need in risking waking him.
Yukiya only shook his head and sighed as he finally left. Finally, some of the tension left his shoulders. Even if it was only for a little while, he could relax without someone scrutinizing his every move.
He was in the middle of another book when he heard the door swing open and the rustling of plastic. "I didn't think you'd come back this late," He commented, standing in the entrance to the kitchen.
âWell this is your home, and it would only be right to get something something you would like as well.â Jonas responded, but new the other would probably still reject, so he quickly shrugged it off. âAt least tell me what kind of food you like so I can get it while Iâm out.â
âI donât like eating food so you might as well get whatever you want,â he frowned. âThe only reason i keep anything here is so people like you have something to eat when they come here.âÂ
Han has seen the worst of people, both in a physical and a mental sense. Heâs seen what machinery and poisons and knives and bombs can do to a body and it isnât pretty. Yes, heâs yet to see a man become mummified and harvested for blood but heâs seen people harvested for organs which is very similar and just about as unsettling.
And letâs not forget all the people who have hired him to kill relatives, children, people who trusted themâ usually for the insurance money and always told to be made to look accidental. Nothing really shocks him anymore.
ââŚAlright.â He nods, taking the answer as truthful. âNot bloodâŚeating. But itâs not such a stretch to think that for you, this is normal. For me, shooting people in the face for money, is normal. No sense in acting shocked out what life dishes out, you know?â
âThatâs logical,â he comments. He only wishes he could take things in stride like this. Yukiya has always been an anxious man. He canât remember the last time felt relaxed. Then again. Hanâs job probably had him looking over his shoulder all the time. Maybe. Speaking of thatâŚ
âYou might want to get that corpse out of here soon. Rotting blood doesnât smell good, especially when it starts coagulating.â He nods at the corpse hanging from Hanâs arms. âHow are you planning on getting it out of here without anyone seeing?â Heâs curious, and he could use a few tips himself.Â
âIsnât it?â How he smirks, one might take it as a joke. Yukiya would be very right about Han needing to stay vigilant, yet he doesnât seem to phasedâ then again, everything about him was also tailored to blend in. His clothes nice but drab, simple as simple could be and unremarkable.
Even the car he came out of from, the silver compact he rented for his time in the city was painfully plain (even for Han who may be spoiled with his racy sportscars in lockup). âOne always needs to be prepared.â He explains, body being dragged until he almost crossed the threshold back into the street, his car parked in front of the alley and blocking much of the view.
He goes round the back, opening his trunk where he was indeed, prepared. Trash bags, duct tape, rope, shovels, what looks to be a blowtorchâ all very sketchy and very obvious to anyone who looks inside, but alas, itâs all basic hardware that he can dump without a proper trail once this body was taken care of.
A bundle of trash bags were pulled out (along with two pairs of gloves), trunk shut and soon heâs snapping the gloves on. âHeâs brittleâ Weâll pull him apart, separate him into two bagsâ you did half the work, so youâre helping.â
Yukiya follows, but not before giving one last longing look to the deflating blood bubble bush. He'll have to take care of it before the blood starts stinking up the place. It's a simple task with magic, but it takes up a lot of energy.
He almost suggests doing the same with the victim's body until the thought crosses his mind that the merc might have his own way of doing things. And sure enough, he's well prepared. Handy tools are placed neatly in the trunk. Anyone would be suspicious of these if they saw them together like this, but Yukiya guesses Han has his way of dealing with these as well.
Han gives him an order and Yukiya has half a mind to tell him off. Why does he have to help some guy whose name he doesn't even know? He opens his mouth to protest, but quickly snaps it shut. Again, he's not in a position to refuse. That thought alone is enough for a scowl to darken his expression.
Yukiya would rather just sever the body into prices with the sharp spade of the shovel, but that would undoubtedly make noise in the alleyway and draw attention. He takes the gloves and slides them on though he's obviously not happy about it. "Do you have a specific way you want this done or..?"
âThe dead always knows. There is nothing you can hide from them.â He said as he stood up, then became annoyed when told there was only canned food. âReally? After the last time I was here, canned food is still all you have. Not only are you a bad host, you are terrible at taking care of yourself. I donât care what you say, Iâm dragging you to town and Iâm getting you real food.â He said as he stormed off to the kitchen. As much as he didnât like the man, this would be a good break for himself. He needed out of that house.
Yukiya rolled his eyes. He didn't believe in that stuff. He liked to think that his mother had nothing to do with him after he murdered her, and he did not want to think about her looking over his shoulder even after death. "I'm not trying to be a good hostâ" The witch had a good point though. Yukiya sucked at taking care of himself, but he had no desire to. "You're free to go. By yourself. Your problem with the food I have here is on you. Don't go dragging me into this," He said firmly.

Paper hearts are dangling from every surface, the numerous plants that littered their home were each adorned with them as wellâ itâs as if Cupid himself barfed all over the place. Despite the pink nightmare that was their home, the boys had enjoyed making all the hearts and were proud of their decorating job, so their parents werenât complaining either.
âWell, kids like sugar.â She muses, plucking a cookie for herself because the boys werenât the only ones with a love of sweets. Speaking of sweets, she damn near squeals as Yuki reveals his gift, her hands pressing against her chest the second she realizes their chocolatesâ handmade ones too! âOh, YukiâŚthatâs so sweet, oh gosh! That must have taken you so long to make!â She hugs her friend tightly, Leo letting out an annoyed mew as heâs nearly crushed beneath the two.
âHey, heyâŚwhatâs with all the lovey doveyâ are those handmade chocolates?â LĂĄzaro questions, looking suddenly intrigued. He quickly regrets his words as all three boyâs attention is caught.
âChocolates?!â Three small voice chime in, clearly excited.
Didi pulls away from the hug to law down the law. âNo chocolates until after dinner. Youâve had enough sugar for nowâ and what do we say to Uncle Yuki?â
Again, thereâs a chorus of three voices, âThank you, Uncle Yuki.â Although the youngest is really saying tank you, but itâs the thought that counts.
âIt didnât take that long,â He laughs softly despite the fact that they actually did. He messed up the first batch, mistaking salt for sugar. They look so similar, could anyone blame him?
Joyce sure did.
Yukiya feels a warm smile spread across his lips as the three kids chorus their thanks. They are such a beautiful reprise from the usual ghoulish children heâs grown accustomed to interacting with. Their beaming smiles heal his heart a little more every time he sees them.Â
âYouâre very welcome. Donât eat all of them at once though, okay? Your teeth will fall out,â he teases, but with all of the sugar theyâve already consumed, that might be close to becoming a reality.Â
Suddenly, he thinks of something.âHey, would you kids like to see a magic trick?âÂ
Han has seen the worst of people, both in a physical and a mental sense. Heâs seen what machinery and poisons and knives and bombs can do to a body and it isnât pretty. Yes, heâs yet to see a man become mummified and harvested for blood but heâs seen people harvested for organs which is very similar and just about as unsettling.

dxspereauxâ:
Despite his initial impression of a very angry, gun toting killer, Han still looked like a trustworthy soul. Kind eyesâ itâs hard for a killer to have kind eyes, but he did. His age marked his face, laugh lines round his lips, the beginning of wrinkles round his eyes, it made him appear far too normal. Itâs also what made him so sought after, no one ever expected the man that looked like a weary father who tells bad dad jokes to pull out a gun and shoot you in the face.
He doesnât react to the biting of theâŚfruit, aside the slight quirking of a single brow. That was new. He;s heard of thatâŚthat condition where people needed constant transfusions and such to live but heâs taking a wild guess this isnât the case with this man. âIs the desire to eatâŚblood a medical necessity or a compulsion?â Heâs rather blunt in his questioning; heâs nothing if not cautious about all strange, new people he meets.
Thereâs a quietness to Han's presence, so ordinary itâs unsettling. Thatâs one thing they share, at least. It pays to have a gentle face and a warm smile. People begin to think âthereâs no way this man can do anything wrong. He would never hurt a flyâ.Â
Itâs the first time someone hasnât been visibly repulsed by him drinking blood. A mixture of relief and curiosity stir within. What has this man seen to have made him so unmoved at such a sight?Â
Yukiya purses his lips. â... Compulsion,â he answers. Most people would call that a curse, but Yukiya doesnât have any strong feelings towards his condition. He doesnât miss being able to taste food; you canât miss what you never had. âAre things like these normal for you? You look awfully bored.âÂ

It wasnât a stretch to think that Didi was a fan of the pink, heart-shaped holiday that was Valentineâs Day. Of course, she loved the concept of a whole holiday based on love-based materialism. And of course, Yuki was to be included in this yearâs festivities; friend he may be, but he was not allowed to be indifferent or mopey on this day. No, no, heâs forcibly dragged by his small friend to her home, celebrations already underwayâ
By celebrations, we mean A Charlie Brown Valentine is playing on their TV, Didiâs children all flopped on the floor with their father, watching intently, eating heart shaped cookies decorated by the family. Sprinkles were haphazardly strewn everywhere between the kitchen and the living room and Didi ignored it for now as she led Yuki inside.
Upon seeing the family friend, LĂĄzaro waved and the three boys excitedly got up to crowd around Uncle Yuki, offering up more cookiesâ Didi explained that Yuki couldnât eat cookies yet (which prompted much groaning form the children) and sent them back to their father. âTheyâre a little excitable, non?â Didi questions with a smile, leading Yuki to sit by her side on the couch. âSee? Isnât this nicer than being all cooped up at home, hm?â
Even the family cat was in on the party, the boys having taped a number of paper hearts over his furâ thankfully Leo wasnât a very active cat and was content to roll himself up by Yukiâs side and refuse to budge.
Didiâs house was a lot pinker than usual, Yukiya thought as he was pulled through her front door. The house smelled smelled like sugar and icing, neither of which were particularly appetizing to him.Â
The children (who he actually dawdled on when no one was looking) adorably offered him some cookies. âO-oh. Not right now. Maybe later-â Didi saved him. It wasnât that he didnât enjoy eating sweets (okay, maybe that was the case just a little) but he just wasnât... hungry for them.Â
Wait. Did Didi still think he was a vampire? Heâd ask later.Â
âThey do have a lot of sugar in them right now,â he pointed out, hand moving to absentmindedly stroke Leoâs soft fur until his finger snagged on a pink heart. âThis is the definitely better than what I usually do on Valentineâs Day.â And what he usually did on this special day was not very loving at all.Â
âOh, right,â he suddenly straightened and leaned over to open his bag. âI brought gifts for all of you.â Rummaging through, he retrieved five clear plastic packages closed off with decorative string. Inside were heart-shaped chocolates of varying colours and flavours. âHomemade chocolate. It was my first time making them, but my taste-tester said they were good, so...âÂ

Š INTO MY EYES
dxspereauxâ:Â
Han has yet to come across something like this, this apparent plant that feeds off living blood in order to sustain itself. Itâs not like a flytrap that can live off the small life of a fly but needs a whole human host in order to live. Hanâs not a superstitious man but something was certainly wrong with either the plant or the man tending to it.
ââŚWhy do you do this? What does the continuation of aâŚbloody plant mean so much to you?â He questions before abruptly pulling the mummified corpse up from the dirt, limbs creaking as he manages to get it out. âIâve sent back worse. Accidents happen.â
Thereâs a chilling silence for a while. Yukiya seems to consider telling Han the truth, eyes downcast before they peer up to meet Hanâs. He walks over to the corpse hanging from his arms and plucks a blood bubble.Â
âWell, to put it simply,â He brings the red sphere up to his lips and tears the skin with his teeth. âa bloody plant like this means a steady supply of fresh blood.â He lets a few drops of blood trickle into his mouth before he (regretfully) throws the fruit away.Â
