Today, I talked with an incarcerated man named Shan Carter. He is on death row in North Carolina. He needs your help to share his story. He wasn’t given a fair trial and he has proof that he is innocent. His legal representation is ignoring him. His case is filled with so much corruption. This is serious, you guys.

“Shan Carter’s family and friends love and miss him. We will never stop fighting to prove his innocence and until justice is served. I’m not just saying my brother is innocent just because he said so, I’m saying he is innocent and wrongly convicted because there is documentation and DNA test to prove he is innocent. All Shan and his family wants is justice to be served and to prove the corruption in his case so that no one will have to go through what he is because of the corruption in the system. Thank you to all that support him!”

Shan Carter Matters. He deserves a fair trial. He deserves justice.

stan culture is more toxic than cancel culture

people who have committed crimes shouldn't be cancelled, but should get fucking arrested

stop apologising for offending people and start apologising for being racist

people can mature and develop sure, but growing up and watching racist content during your formative years can have lingering effects in your present day self. people should apologise for the shit they've done and prove - through action - that they've matured and changed

stop putting strangers on pedestals, it's goddamn creepy. also, don't act all surprised when they don't reach your impossibly high standards

there's no such thing as a unproblematic fave - all humans have flaws, so stop pretending your fave is perfect

yeah, we've all fucked up in the past, but not all of us filmed that shit, made money off it and now live in multi-million pound mansions cause of it. people with public platforms should be held accountable for their actions, past and present

STOP APOLOGISING FOR OFFENDING PEOPLE AND START APOLOGISING FOR BEING RACIST

a single person of colour doesn't speak for every person of colour. just cause your friend/cousin/sibling says they weren't offended or that they've forgiven the public figure, doesn't make them the spokesperson for EVERY PERSON OF COLOUR

people all over this site have had traumatic, shitty childhoods and amazingly, they're still not racist, transphobic, sexist dickheads

learn how to google; if you can ask someone, "wait, what happened, what did i miss?" on tumblr, then you clearly have the ability to look up the person's name on google, tumblr or twitter. stop forcing other people to do the labour for you. if you really wanna learn, put in the work

but if you're a rapist, an abuser or a pedophile, then you should get arrested. you belong in a prison. as someone who cares more about victims feeling safe, who cares more about getting them justice and closure, i really feel that these criminals should be removed from society to prevent them from committing further crimes.

i don't care if that makes me unempathetic, i don't care if that means i'm a cold bitch, i just don't give a shit about people who could abuse their supposed loved ones or violate another human.

but when one of my classmates speaks arabic in public to her family, she gets strange and disgusted looks. no one asks to be taught arabic. no one says its cool that shes bilingual

It’s not as if French has any cultural cachet.

There’s nothing that makes these languages different in the eyes of Westerners apart from race; not ease of learning, not education, not linguistics, not legal systems, not culinary practice, not history, not cinema, not theology, not tourism, not finance, not lineage not comparative influence, not personal choice or preference nothing.

white people consistently gravitating towards another white person telling the story of a brown person and giving themselves a pat on the back for basically telling their white experience through a brown mouth. white people, please understand yall are part of the problem and you need to be conscious of the work you’re consuming and making.

then there’s poc content creators giving accurate deep portrayals of their experience who get little to no exposure and who’s legitimate stories get swept under the rug.

this is about latinx, indigenous, black, mixed, asian, and other racial/ethnic minorities (espeically those who are disabled and/or lgbtq+)

accountability > punishment

healing that focuses on victims and community

universal healthcare

accessible, affordable housing for all

increased living wage

free, accessible treatment for addiction

free college tuition (sense a theme yet?)

gun control

compassion

not treating anyone as if they're disposable

I am extremely annoyed by how FTM and MTF spaces are being flooded by non binary people who join for whatever reason and get offended when we use gendered language. If you don’t want to be a man, DO NOT JOIN A FTM SPACE. And vice versa! In some group chats I am in, we can’t even mention gendered terms anymore because a bunch of sensitive immature kids are offended by the word “man”. I cannot stress this enough. If you are not binary trans, STAY OUT OF BINARY TRANS SPACES.

you are like cats crying at a door until you open it and then you just start crying to get out. fucking stop. i don’t care about how special you are. If you need a new gender identity as your sole purpose, sweetie, you have no purpose. There are more productive things to do.
